If Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov’s assertion today that Germany has agreed to send its long range Taurus missile to Ukraine(as reported by Chuck Pfarrer) then it would appear that the days of Russia’s Kerch Strait Bridge are truly numbered indeed. Not only that but the addition of the Taurus adds to Ukraine’s tool kit for actively taking the war to the farthest rear areas of Russia occupied Ukraine as well as Crimea … just when the counter-offensive in the South towards Crimea is showing real promise.
The Taurus is uniquely configured to do the job on the Kerch Bridge. No wonder Russia told Germany that giving it to Ukraine was a red line. That red line is about to be confined to the dust bin of history. According to the “Visit Ukraine” website:
“the German-Swedish warhead design technology has certain peculiarities. For example, Fabian Hoffmann of the University of Oslo in an interview with American Newsweek called Taurus "a more effective weapon" for destroying bridges(emphasis mine). Other Western experts share a similar opinion. The missile actually has two warheads - the first one explodes, removing a powerful obstacle on the way, such as the roadway on the bridge, activating the second warhead, which delivers a precise main strike, for example, on the bridge pillar," Markus Koypp, an analyst at the Military Academy of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich, explained in an interview with the German ZDF TV channel.” visitukraine.today/...
Hopefully the United States will also soon approve the ATACMS for Ukraine. Let’s end this war … soonest.
