WH Debt Ceiling Messaging Is Failing. A Fix Is Relatively Simple [1]

Not Rocket Science

I am a marketing and communications consultant who sometimes chimes in here On Daily Kos hoping a White House aid might catch my story by chance. (Overly optimistic is my super power)



The White House strategy of trotting President Biden out to a podium to talk about the debt ceiling is not getting any traction and not likely to work. I will offer a way to impact the public’s immediate understanding and maybe move public opinion based on a better informed citizenry.

Unfortunately the media is not covering this properly. Using both-sides narratives so as to not alienate part of their audience. Of course the right wing outlets are blaming Biden exclusively per usual. Here is the fix for the communication lapse.



President Biden can have a big deal prime time news event that is well announced in advance via a broad network of platforms. Including streaming and social media.

Its importance to the nation and each individual to be fully emphasized in the pre event announcements.

The President would make the introductory statements to open and then turn it over to former Federal Reserve chairperson and current Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen. Follow her with couple of well regarded economists, preferably one with a Nobel Prize on a resume to establish credibility.



These experts would

explain what the debt ceiling is, that it is not relevant to future debt, why it’s not in play for negotiation. This would serve to help educate people and expose the Republicans intention.

This is an opportunity to help enlighten the public that frankly doesn’t come up very often. People will turn in to these events when they address circumstances that impact their lives in dramatic and immediate ways. There is no American that would not be impacted negatively by a default.
