Frankie - 2007 - 2022

Frankie is in the spotlight not because he’s gone and I miss him (which I do, so so much), but because his silly pose made me realize I can no longer relax like that.

I just went for a brief walk in my own neighborhood, and a car came down the street toward me. It slowed as it passed, no doubt to pull into a driveway. Was my first thought “Oh, my neighbors are home”? No. It was “I have nowhere to run if they turn around and come back.”

I think I’m pretty reasonable. I have no enemies I know of (though I’m stocking up on Bud Light, which I dislike, doing my part to piss off the right) and I’m old and white. And yet I wondered where I could go to avoid getting shot.

Jesus. F’ing. Christ. Why are we living like this? Can someone explain it to me?
