How to Respond to "It's a Mental Health Issue" [1]

I am tired of people dying because an insane person with a weapon of war goes into a building and decides to kill as many people as possible. This country absolutely needs and wants gun control but republicans won’t even discuss it. Every time there is a mass shooting, we hear the same thing, “now is not the time for politics” and “it’s about mental health.” I want to hear one reporter counter that argument with Ted Cruz or Greg Abbott or whatever politician is repeating this talking point. Just once I’d like to hear “yes, it is a mental health issue. Now when are you going to legislate background checks that would prevent mentally ill people from obtaining guns?” I have never heard anyone counter their “mental health” argument.
Of course it’s about mental health. No sane person is going to kill people with a weapon of war. Now these useless politicians need to do something about it!
