I’ve been thinking a lot about the damage that has been done to our democracy because of trump’s lies about the election being stolen and the lies of people in congress and the media – especially fox, ONN and newsmax – by people who knew they were lies yet were willing to crater democracy to remain in power, get richer, or both. So I think that all judgments in the suits filed by Dominion because of these lies should be made public and sealed settlements should not be allowed. I think that due to the severity of their crimes, any host who knowingly lied on the air while acknowledging the proof privately, should have to:
Admit on air that they deliberately lied and knew the election was fair and there was no fraud
Display the text of their private correspondence, with its date, on one side of the screen and display the text of what they said on air, with its date, on the other side of the screen
The text they have to display should remain up during their entire show
The hosts should be required to read both aloud on air – it is newsworthy
The hosts should have to do the above for as many days as they spewed their lies on air
As the hosts knowingly allowed members of congress, lawyers, etc. to spew their lies on their shows, the hosts should have to display on air, the text from emails and text messages that counteract any lies these individuals spread and should be required to read both aloud – it is newsworthy
As the lying politicians keep getting elected, and the maga base only listens to these propaganda stations and aren’t exposed to the truth that has come out, I think the only way to try to reach people who believe these lies is to have them refuted from the same sources and channels that have fed them the lies. I believe that any damage done to the profit-line of these stations is nothing compared to the damage they have done to our nation.
