Vote Blue in 2022!
Good morning everyone! Still on our extended trip and I’ve written a lot of this diary last week, so it may not be the most current news, but the sentiment behind it is current through election day!
On the day I wrote this diary my husband and I received confirmation that our vote abroad ballots have been received AND counted! It involved using a code we received from the county to access our online ballot. Completed the ballot and then had the hotel print it off for us, including the side of the envelope with places for our printed name and signature. We completed that portion, bundled them up and asked our friends who were traveling with us to mail them when they got home two days later. They had to cut out the envelope piece and tape it onto an actual envelope, put the ballots in the proper envelopes and mail them. Success! We could have faxed them in, but chose the mail in route. Our friend is a Judge, so we felt comfortable entrusting her to handle the task.
Our story highlights the ways forward thinking states view voting rights and encourage voting. They make it possible to help as many people vote as they can. We voted as voters temporarily abroad and it was as simple as changing on registration online. Once we get home we’ll change it back to permanent vote by mail. Easy peasy, lemon squeezy.
An encouraging start
x First day Georgia #earlyvote clocks in at 123,000, a 74%!!!!!! increase over 1st day 2018 and almost as many as 2020.
We will have more data soon but this a BFD. Folks are voting in record numbers people - make sure to #voteearly and encourage everyone you know to do so too!

Of course her republican opponent lied
x 🧵 Yesli Vega goes to great lengths to avoid the Virginians she claims to want to serve.
For 4 months, our team worked to lock down a nonpartisan debate. The Vega campaign has refused to cooperate. And Vega is lying about what happened.
So here’s what happened. — Abigail Spanberger (@SpanbergerVA07) October 18, 2022
Seriously, check in with your people and make sure they vote
x Today, I voted early in the 2022 midterm elections! I want to see you turning out to vote with your voting squad.
Barack’s in my #VotingSquad — who’s in yours? Tag them below and remind them to register and make a plan to vote. pic.twitter.com/Oo1KMGCbwn — Michelle Obama (@MichelleObama) October 17, 2022
Oooohhhh, I like the looks of this
x Y'all. The Oklahoma Governor's poll almost took me out. I recovered, so let's break down these numbers:
The poll (by a GOP org) shows Joy Hofmeister (D) with a 7% lead over incumbent Kevin Stitt (R)...
In state that voted for Trump over Biden by 33%.
HOW? Good question. 🧵 — Nate Morris (@_natemorris) October 17, 2022
I’ll close with asking everyone to please ask your friends and family if they have a plan to vote. It really will be about turnout this year and once again, (grrrrrr, looking at you, 2016!), we absolutely have to hold our democracy together.
