Olympic Museum will host Mijaín López’s uniform – Canal Caribe

The Greco-Roman style fighter Mijaín López continues to give prestige to Cuban sport, after learning that the uniform with which he won his fourth title in summer appointments, will arrive at the Olympic Museum in Switzerland.

According to the institution’s website, the Cuban idol’s jersey will become part of the Olympic heritage for posterity, along with 424 other pieces donated by the athletes who participated in Tokyo 2020.

In that case, in the exhibition that will be held there in March 2022, among other acquisitions, you will be able to see a shirt of the living legend of United States women’s basketball, Sue Bird and the outfit of the Swiss tennis player Belinda Bencic.

As is traditional, after each version of the Olympic Games, the Department of Culture and Heritage of the (IOC) compiles an important collection of costumes and audiovisual documents of the athletes that will summarize the fair for future generations. “The new collection that will grace the Museum and that we will show the world in our next Riding the Olympic Wave exhibition is truly exciting,” agreed Yasmin Meichtry, Associate Director of the IOC Olympic Foundation for Culture and Heritage.

In this regard, he specified that the Tokyo 2020 collections covered 28 of the 33 sports, including some newcomers such as surfing, skating and sport climbing.

It also reported that a total of 41,240 photos were added and 73 interviews with athletes, IOC members and representatives of the participating delegations were recorded.

The next objective of the IOC Culture and Heritage team will be the Winter Olympics to be held in the Chinese city of Beijing from February 4 to 20 next year.
