The oldest Cuban woman, Maria Emilia Quesada Blanco, also considered among the most long lived in the world, passed away last Monday in Cienfuegos city while being 117 years old.
Her relatives assure that until several months ago the old lady, born on January 5th 1901, kept well humored and strict food habits which characterized her during her healthy existence.
Without suffering from any symptoms of a lethal disease, she started losing her skills slowly but not her amazing lucidity until expiring, surrounded by the love and cares professed by the love of her multiple nephew and nieces with whom she lived the last decades of her long life.
Together with them, neighbors and friends and the Christian community of Monserrat parish pay posthumous homage in this temple to Mima –as they call her fondly.
The old lady always said that the secret to her long life was her religious faith, since she always prayed for peace, quietness, solidarity and the end of the wars.
In March 2017, the digital encyclopedia Wikipedia actualized the list of centenaries in the world and she was quoted among the four oldest after Emma Morano, from Italy; Violet Brown from Jamaica and Nabi Tajima from Japan.
