that this is completely unathorized and unofficial and that if you were to
direct any inquiries or comments regarding this document to Hudson they would as
likely interrogate you as to why an American has a copy of their game in America
as send their Bomberman staff to thrust N64s fitted with blasting caps down your

they already are by asking Hudson what this guy Lando meant when he says this or

1. Prologue (translated from the manual)
----------------------------------------
Apprentice Demon Hunter Rizing, accompanied by Master Red Bear, had come to the
city of New Orleans. The children are isolated inside the fence in this
myserious city...... In there was the altar called the Fire of Eden. The Fire
of Eden was a symbol of peace, and by that sacred light America was illuminated.
However, in recent years, it is said that demons have begun to increase at this
perimeter. One theory suggests the demons are born out of the Fire of Eden
itself...... The year 1893, New Orleans - from here our tale begins.
2. Gameplay Features
--------------------
2.1. The Camp Screen
Pressing the B-button while traversing the map will call up this menu. To cycle
between characters, press R or L anytime during this menu.
- Across the top are the character panels; these give information about each
character's status.
- In the upper left, just below the character panels, are the commands, which
may be cycled through via the directional pad (see below for details).
- On the right is a picture of the moon; this depicts the current phase of the
moon, which is related to the amount of damage done in battle. Damage increases
as it nears full moon. Equipment is also affected by this.
- Below the commands are normally the various goods left behind by monsters
during battle that you have collected. However, items, magic, techniques, and
equipment are here instead when the corresponding commands are selected.
- Your current MP/max MP is located in the bottom center of the screen and the
amount of cash currently on you is in the lower right.
2.2. The Character Panel
The character panel acts exactly the same in battle as in the Camp Screen.
- The character's name is in the upper left.
- Current HP is located in the upper right of the panel, along with a handy bar
as a visual aid.
- Current TP is located below HP along with another bar.
- Below the character's name is an indication of currently collected magic-
induced status changes. While affected, each box changes to green and
eventually to red, indicating that the condition will expire next turn. On the
top row, from left to right, the conditions are attack power up, defense power
up, and speed up; on the bottom row, from left to right, the conditions
are attack power down, defense power down, and speed down.
2.3. Bad Status
The frame of a character's name indicates bad status. Normal status appears in
a full-sized light blue frame.
- Red / Poison - HP decreases slightly with each step taken on the map.
Recovers after a few steps. Continues after battle ends.
- Green / Acid - TP decreases slightly with each step taken on the map.
Recovers after a few steps. Continues after battle ends.
- White / Silence - Unable to cast spells. (Duration of battle)
- Black / Darkness - Eyesight snatched away; hit rate down 25%. Continues after
battle ends.
- Yellow-green / Illness - HP & TP decrease slightly with each step. Infects
other party members after a few steps. Continues after battle ends.
- Violet / Certain Kill - Undertakes certain kill attack; after a while HP
becomes 1. Continues after battle ends.
- Blue / Sleep - During battle sleep continues for 2 turns. Upon awakening from
sleep TP is completely restored. (Duration of battle)
- Yellow / Confusion - Attacks anyone, friend or foe, during battle. (Duration
of battle)
- Frame becomes small / Paralysis - Will not be able to move during battle for a
while. (Duration of battle)
* The frame will not change with the bad status of curse. Under a curse magic
will be unusable and spells will be in blue. To get rid of a curse you will
need to use a RemoveCurse item (see items below).

3. Magic and Techniques
-----------------------
A note about Magic (魔 ) and Techniques (奥義) :
All magic (魔 ・mahou) learned can be used by anyone in the party; MP is shared
among everyone. Techniques (奥義・ougi), however, are specific to each
character (although a few spells are combinations between two members of the
party). Each character has their own pool of TP (Technique Points) with which
to use their techniques. Techniques are learned as the plot advances; magic is
taught by Indian sages scattered across the U.S. and MP increases by 2 each time
a new spell is learned.
The following information can be found on the reverse side of the map of the
U.S. included in the box.

*Cultural/linguistic note: Futokoro (懐) primarily means bosom or heart.
However, it should be noted that both in Chinese and Japanese there is a
conceptual overlap between sleeve (or, in the case of western clothes, pocket)
and bosom, both loosely meaning that part of the person which carries things.
Thus Otoko no Futokoro is a sort of pun, meaning both '(A) Man's Bosom' and '(A)
Man's Pocket.'

5. Plot Synopsis
----------------
5.0. -- New Orleans, Louisiana, 1893 --
As the story opens (following the introductory animation), we find Rizing as
a young boy playing hide-and-seek with a few of his friends (namely, Yumemi, Sam
(Yumemi's elder brother), Dave, and Magu), after which Dave, an aspiring
photojournalist, most likely for the local equivalent of such prominent
newspapers as the National Enquirer, astounds the others with the
photograph of an obake (ghost, monster, etc.), taken at the American-style house
atop the hill, that Sam is reluctant to believe ("Trick da yo!"); thus the
intrepid five set off to find a real ghost inside the place. Take a leisurely
stroll through scenic New Orleans, telling jokes ('gyagu') to hyperactive
children and eliciting treasure from the locals (but not the Golden Horde kind
of way) or perhaps stopping for some casual conversation at the Wanpaku
(Naughty) House or popcorn and a Coke at George's Grocery, but don't feel too
disheartened when you can't afford any of the tasty nikuman from those guys on
the street corner because the game hasn't actually started yet.
As you make your way up to the mansion on the hill, the gang will spy, in the
Indian (I know, it's not PC, but then again none of this game is) village below,
Rizing's sensei, the great master Red Bear, doing battle with some unruly
Gargoyles. Needless to say, the team is thoroughly impressed by Red Bear's
fighting skills ("He didn't even have to enter a first-person
full-screen anime battle!" points out Sam (jk)) but a bit curious as to why he
is fighting the demons.
Once inside the house, your four friends immediately, as all friends should
do, rush to your side, ready to confront all evil, right behind you... primarily
because they're scared out of their minds. But as you are the young apprentice
Mamono (Demon) Hunter (Yohko? no) under the tutelage of the great Indian master
Red Bear, you get responsibility for them shoveled on you with a crane. No
matter, however; at this point, before the actual game has started, none of the
monsters you encounter will kill you (but you won't get any experience from them
either).
As the party of five makes its way through the long hall of the house,
finding nothing of value in any of the empty rooms, Dave promptly dashes off out
of sight after sputtering something about the arrestive lack of space within the
confines of his bladder. Soon coming to a large door, the remaining four enter
a room lavishly furnished in the tasteful 19th century gothic style which was
all the rage back then. They are startled by the low, clamorous chimes of an
old grandfather clock which Yumemi insists has rung thirteen times. As if a
malignant omen, the tolls are soon followed by the appearance of the frightening
figure of a somewhat portly mummy who proceeds to scare the group until they are
bored. It is soon revealed (as
if no one had guessed before he'd even showed up) that the mummy is none other
than their presumed incontinent mischief-making friend Dave. Sam then proceeds
to make for the exit expelling something about the recent increase in air
pollution the way a cat might expel a particularly nasty hairball. Without him
the rest proceed to head downstairs, but thoughts
of stubbed toes and broken necks deter them from going any farther when they
notice the lights are gone. Returning with a candle Yumemi spotted in the den,
they then head down, spot some evil demon-type dude wake up, drop the candle
(which subsequently burns up the mansion) and run like hell.
Thus the five return to the town, decide they'd better warn the adults
despite the fact they're not allowed to be on the other side of the fence. Red
Bear shows up and leads them to the sanctity of an Eden Fire shrine but has to
run back out with Rizing to chase after Sam, who has taken it upon himself to
locate the nearest book of Demonic Spells (or How to Make
Really Good Tex-Mex Cuisine in Under Three Months) and unleash a succubus or
two. But Sam's not really bad, he's just really taken (read: possessed) by this
great demon fellow whose house the gang roasted into next year's kindling (of
course, they're in New Orleans, but you never know when those blizzards can pop
up...).

Rizing wakes up to find himself in bed in Alaska with a huge headache (must
go easy on the walrus giblets next time, he muses idly) and awakens groggily to
meet a kindly denizen of the north filling him in on the situation. Rizing, who
has come to Alaska at the urgings of his sensei Red Bear, who is in dire need of
help, as it turns out, has just recovered from injuries
obtained in the opening animation (see the opening animation for details) under
the care of the old man's young daughter who promptly greets Rizing with a
knife, armor, and three hundred seventeen-period ellipses, and the whole
flashback to 1893 was a dream. Rizing thanks the two and sets off on his quest,
the letter from Red Bear in hand.
Leaving the village of Anchorage, Rizing visits such resorts as Fairbanks to
the east and Nome to the west on the island of Alaska. In Fairbanks Rizing
encounters such historical landmarks as the great buffalo called Denari-sama
encased in ice (a goddess who taught the Alaskans about fishing and other
survival means who encased herself in ice and took the form of
buffalo after telling the others to watch over her sleep, or so the legend goes)
and a fellow tourist, the Chinese monk Try, adorned with a wok atop his head.
Try offers $3000 up front for recovering the seed of a rather rare plant - the
Batabia - in a cave in Nome with another $3000 upon delivery (once you bring it
to him, however, he informs you he can sell it for $10000 and leaves for
California, but that's another matter entirely). Rizing heads to Nome, heeding
the Hunter's Guild member's words not to go out at night, as the deadly Flare
Fox cannot be damaged until later, successfully plunders the plant after
smacking it around a bit and encounters Death routinely collecting children in
town. After successfully losing to the skeletal rider, the mysterious dark
stranger Seiya appears, beats him good (she's quite adept at Battleship) and
successfully returns the child to its mother (albeit the resale value on her
home's straight down the outdoor plumbing). Although he still has trouble
carving up lukewarm butter, Seiya realizes Rizing's potential for greatness and
invites him along to Mt. McKinley, upon which Seiya tests Rizing in a one-on-one
battle to draw out Rizing's true strength with which he can defeat magical
enemies such as the Flare Fox. Afterwards Rizing will encounter the first book
of data-saving in the game. Eventually the two come upon a cave, wherein Rizing
walks through fire to claim the Magic Gun, useful for eliminating pesky demon-
spawning conflagrations of Eden and freeing legendary buffaloes encased in ice
inside caverns in Fairbanks, which is what they then proceed to do. As the
townspeople celebrate the recent release of their mythical bovid,
Rizing and Seiya learn the evil tyrant Blizzard from the Ankoku Kyoudan
(literally 'dark cult' - there is a member of this evil religious organization
dominating each area of America) has just wrecked Anchorage, who makes his home
in an Ice Palace at the northern tip of the island. The majestic buffalo Denari
offers the pair a ride through Alaska to the punk's lair (and he is a punk, I
can assure you), plowing through anything in his way - almost (you gotta watch
that last one). Finally reaching the top of the palace and seeing his once
proud master imprisoned in ice, Rizing recites the four rules of the Hunter's
code, madly hacking away at Blizzard. Chipping away at his anime exterior,
Rizing and Seiya reveal Blizzard's true 3-D rendered
self. Unfortunately, Red Bear lacks the strength to go on after being rescued,
and passes away, regretfully knowing there was much yet he had to teach and to
tell Rizing.
--- A moment of silence for Red Bear ---
Seiya then has Rizing extinguish the Fire of Eden, preventing the birth of more
demons, and then parts, assuring him that they'll meet again, if not later on in
the game then perhaps in the sequel.
Rizing then returns to Anchorage, bidding a farewell to the old man and his
daughter, who smiles for Rizing as promised earlier (sorry I forgot to mention
that...). He then catches the next boat to Seattle, Montana, and his quest on
the mainland of America begins.
Sliding around on the ice in the Ice Palace (for those of you who are "puzzle-

On the boat to Seattle:
Asleep in his cabin, Rizing is awoken with a start by a loud crash and a few
additions to his room, including a new egress and a portly traditional Japanese
samurai Zengo. He apologizes, explaining he was in the middle of a fierce brawl
with twenty other people. He introduces himself as America's #1 Demon Hunter,
claiming that only yesterday he defeated the demon Blizzard in Alaska...
After hearing the announcement, Zengo leaves, and you can explore the boat
where the crew will tell you about Seattle's Chief Bull, the famous - although a
bit strange - Indian chief. Other passengers will warn you to watch out for the
woman named Youno, since she holds the powers of demons.
Anyway, on the deck, Rizing will introduce himself as a Demon Hunter to Zengo
and explain that he's searching for the Indian called Youno. Zengo claims he
knows her, and a voice very close to Hisakawa Aya's informs everyone that the
boat has reached Seattle and to watch your step while crossing the plank.

A rather effete character greets Rizing at the dock and introduces himself as
a Mr. Ashimoto, a stingy dealer who has heard of Rizing's feats. He prophesizes
ominously that he will meet 'Mr. Rizing' again before long.
Anyway, once in the Indian village of Seattle, Montana, Rizing is greeted by
various Indians who inform him that Chief Bull is a good person despite the fact
that he's a bit strange, and that woman Youno is a warrior with the power of
demons and thus should be feared. Rizing also learns of Scar Wolf, a warrior on
par with Youno; together with Low Dog, these three once comprised Seattle's
strongest warriors.
Entering one home, Rizing notices tons of memorabilia relating to Candy, the
current idol singer of 1899. The parents are worried since their children
ignore them and do nothing but listen to her music all day. The obsession seems
to be getting out of hand when one kid says he's going to become white when he
grows up so he can marry Candy.... Of course, the funny thing is that they
leave all that stuff there throughout the entire game...
As Chief Bull is friends with the Anchorage village elder, he already knows
about Rizing and greets him as a friend when talked to. Indians, as Chief Bull
will state many many times, do not lie. As a wild dog approaches, Chief Bull
assures us that Indians are friends with wild animals, and, as he is being
ripped to shreds by his canine 'friend,' he indignantly reiterates that Indians
do not lie. Then the blue Dog, who Rizing points out must be Chief Bull's
biggest friend, shows up on a bike, ordering the rest of the dogs to attack;
consequently, Zengo flees for his life. After disposing of some dogs, Rizing is
joined by Youno, who shows up to aid Rizing in saving the children. Dog runs
off with his dogs, and despite Youno's concern, she is not well received by her
fellow villagers, and leaves Seattle. The chief invites you to his tepee for
explanations. It seems that the white people had announced Youno was a warrior
of the devil, and thus the village feared her despite her good nature.
Just then, Low Dog shows up, claiming he was worried about the village (yes,
I'm sure) when Chief Bull asks about his business here. When Chief Bull
explains that Youno and Rizing saved the village, Low Dog is skeptical, accusing
Youno of being responsible. He then informs the chief that he'll punish Youno
for her misdeeds. After Low Dog leaves, Chief Bull explains that the once
respected warrior has now lost the soul of an Indian and become a white man's
dog. The chief then instructs Rizing to go to Yellowstone, where Youno lives,
in the hopes that she will join him. He gives Rizing a device called the
Eagle's Wing which will allow him to go to Yellowstone in the East.
Arriving in Yellowstone in the east, Rizing meets Zengo again, who needs help
with one of the dogs. He then runs off for Portland mentioning the traditional
Japanese garden there. Rizing continues onward, arriving at a platform upon
which there are four colored tiles. When the Eagle's Wing is used over a tile
(stand on the tile and press A or C), Rizing will be teleported to another
Indian village on the map; at the moment only the area from the upper-left tile
is accessible.
After teleporting, Rizing comes across some natural hot springs with varying
properties; the upper-left one restores TP, the upper-middle HP, the upper-right
poisons you, and the lower left are harmful as well. Crossing a bridge, he
comes to a few tepees with more Candy-worshipping kids and their distraught
parents and Indians musing on the ways of Youno and the warrior. Finally, on
top of a mountain, he finds Youno, who decides she will not fight for anyone
anymore. Even though she returns peace to the village, the villagers fear her
because she is a warrior, so she says. Supposedly she has cursed blood in her
body, and the proof is the mark of the devil upon her uh... er, so everyone
tells her. Rizing, however, informs her that is in fact the Seal of Fire,
though she is skeptical until Rizing reveals the same seal on his left shoulder.
Red Bear, he explains, said it was evidence of the blood of the warrior sworn to
defend America. Youno decides she'll need to think about for awhile alone.
Upon return from the mountain, Rizing is accosted by small children and
decide maybe Youno's not so bad after all. Unfortuanetly, Dog shows up again,
inviting the kids to come to a land where everyone is free - Portland. They
leave with him after hearing subliminal messages embedded in Candy's music.
Heading west to Portland, the townspeople were not especially receptive of
Rizing - at least those with cat ears on their heads. Fortunately, you can
purchase your own pair from Mr. Ashimoto's shop, and the town's kids will be
willing to speak to you; thus you can find out that you can't get into the
magical Candy Dome without the Cat Ear Doll - and some weird samurai-type old
guy bought the last one. Of course, Mr. Ashimoto takes your cat ears before you
get inside Zengo's traditional Japanese garden and bathhouse.
Well, Rizing really wants to check out the Candy Dome, so he enters the
building and is greeted by Zengo, who insists he remove his shoes. The exhibits
are fascinating, but we're more interested in getting the Cat Ear Doll, so
Rizing will have to... have his back washed. And no, you can't get into the
girls' bath. Instead you have to endure Zengo in a loincloth scrubbing
your back. In the end, you will have to become... friends... with Zengo in
order to get the Cat Ear Doll.
Once in the Candy Dome, you'll need to talk to the girl in the upper right
for the concert to start. Candy s talks about 'freedom' and attempts to cajole
the fans into entering the Ankoku Kyoudan 'in order to be free.' She then
proceeds to sing 'We want candy' (see the section on songs for lyrics). During
her concert you can turn on spotlights by pressing the A, B, and C buttons, and
L and R will create small explosions. Afterwards you can go in her room, where
she will then proceed to accuse you of attempting to molest her and blow you up.
Underneath her room, Rizing and Zengo escape by blowing a hole in the wall with
a bomb that didn't go off right away.
This leads them back outside where they watch a vehicle speed off with several
kids on board. Following it, they find Candy along with several of her devout
followers performing the ceremony which will turn them all into dogs. At this
point Youno shows up and Candy sends Dog - who is in fact really Low Dog in case
you hadn't figured it out - to take care of her, explaining that he joined the
Ankoku Kyoudan because it is now the era of the white man. Zengo runs off again
to no one's surprise. After defeating him, Low Dog comes to his senses, asking
Youno to kill him. Obviously Youno cannot, since Low Dog's not really a bad guy
after all, so Candy does the job for him and leaves with her dogs. Youno then
joins Rizing, although she still isn't sure about things.
--- A moment of silence for Low Dog ---
After climbing back down, Chief Bull appears and tells Rizing that the village
is in trouble, and that he should come back to Seattle.
As you will soon discover, Seattle has undergone some changes. Candy Town
has been built on top of it (the old Seattle can still be accessed via elevator;
apparently it is where Candy Town deposits its trash), complete with another
Ashimoto Shop, a casino with seven card stud poker, and even a church (see?
organized religion does have direct ties with evil). Mr. Ashimoto shows up and
asks Mr. Rizing how he likes Candy Town before disappearing again.
While the cat-eared children of Candy Town are doing as they please, the
Indians of Seattle are suffering underneath in their once proud village.
Of course, to top off Candy Town is the amazing Candy Tower, wherein Candy
resides on the top floor. Once you've reached the top, she will ask what you
are fighting for, which she assumes before you can answer to be love.
She then asks you if you would like to see her body; if you say yes, she will
invite Rizing into her room alone. If you agree, Candy will take Rizing into
her room... and she will not show you her body. Instead you will have to fight
her alone. If you had said no, however, you would have Youno to help you, but
such is the price you must pay for being lecherous...
Afterwards Youno comes to the realization that alone, she could never beat
the Ankoku Kyoudan and restore peace; together, however, those warriors who bear
the Seal of Fire will defeat the Ankoku Kyoudan. At that time Zengo shows up
and reveals that he, too, has the Seal of Fire on his... uh... anyway, he joins
Rizing yet again, this time presumably for good. Just then, Mr. Ashimoto's
voice is heard, letting Rizing know they will be meeting again soon. Once you
have left the tower, Seattle will return to normal, and Chief Bull will
congratulate you and present you with the Pot of Mana, a gift from Yuriwaka, the
Indian god, as well as your first magic spell.
Thus, having returned peace, the three set off for Lake Tahoe, the only
unexplored town left in Montana. Blocking the entrance, however, is an enormous
stage of a baboon in a suit... and the moving guys need Rizing, Youno, and Zengo
to help push (without all three you cannot budge it - thus you cannot pass
through here before beating Candy). Pushing the statue is accomplished by
pressing the C button. When the statue is finally in place in front of a large
mansion, the owner appears - a big blue baboon - Hollywood's #1 big star - the
preposterous, pretentious pompadour, Manto-sama, who magnanimously presents you
with a shiny new dollar before heading back inside his mansion.
The general consensus in town about the self-proclaimed King of Lake Tahoe,
however, is that the guy is a real baka. What's more, thanks to him there are
monkeys in everyone's house, and, still worse, the train - the only way to
California, where Mr. Ashimoto was reported to have run to - is not available
for use. Add to that the kidnapping of Jessica, the village chief's daughter,
and you know that Manto needs to be taken care of.
Getting into Manto's mansion, however, is impossible without the secret code,
which the village chief informs you is 3291*036 (minikui*osaru - literally,
'ugly monkey' - see below). The chief then presents you with $1000 to save his
daughter. Manto, of course, is not too pleased with this turn of events and
not too impressed with Zengo when Manto misinterprets the samurai's more dated
traditional Japanese speech as calling him a monkey, but as the ever-charitable
host he is, he invites you into his home after all (after stealing Rizing's
weapon) for a little game - Manto's CHALLENGE THE TRAP! IN USA!
How to play Manto's Challenge the Trap! In Usa!
- The first game is played as follows: You may only step on blank panels when
they are lit. Otherwise you will fall to the bottom. Stepping on a START panel
will turn off the currently lit panels and light new ones.
- In the second game, all you have to do is avoid the exploding candles.
Remember to go real slow...
- In the third game, you simply have to move in the direction in which the robot
tells you to move. This is easy, unless you do not know Japanese (of course,
you could probably figure it out after a few falls to the floor below). Listen
carefully, since the robot speaks queickly; after that you will 3 seconds in
which to move - and accessing the Camp Screen will not help you. The directions
are:
- ue - up - shita - down - hidari - left - migi - right
And here is another important word to know:
- aho - idiot
Once on top, you will get to beat the mysterious blue Manto and rescue Jessica,
who gives you back your weapon. She then tells you to visit her father, who
gives you his thanks and a TP-restoring Starlight. The people rejoice now that
the King of Aho is gone. One guy is so thrilled that the monkey who won't let
him call Manto a baka is gone that he proceeds to say it many many times (and
accidentally says 'kaba' once, which, incidentally, means hippo).
Anyway, now that Manto is gone, Rizing and his friends are free to take the
train to California.
An interesting tidbit of information:
An old man in Portland (the first time you visit the town) mentions frequenting
the traditional Japanese garden and learning various Japanese phrases from
Zengo. One expression is 『西向くサムライ 盾フ月』 - "Nishi muku samurai shou
no tsuki" - literally "The west-facing samurai's short months" (Zengo says this
on the boat to Seattle as well). The secret is that the phrase also means 2 - 4
- 6 - 9 - 11 (i.e., the months of the year with less than 31 days, something
Zengo must learn if he is to adapt to the western calendar while running a
business in the U.S. - hence "the west-facing samurai" bit). This is an example
of a lingual nuance often used in Japan.
- the readings of the characters that spell these words are also readings of the
characters that make up the numbers. It goes like this:
- In nishi (西 - west), ni means two and shi means four; both are commonly used
readings of the characters.
- In muku (向く - to face), mu is a reading for the character six, albeit it
usually does not stand alone (it is usually muttsu); ku is a reading for nine.
- As for samurai, there is a clever ideographic trick; the number eleven is
written as 『十一』 (juuichi) - the character for ten followed by the character
for one. One of the characters that means samurai is written 『士』 - which
happens to resemble a combination of the characters for ten (十) and one (一).
This is the same with the password to Manto's mansion - each syllable in
minikui*osaru is a reading for each number in 3291*036.
On the train to California
As the train nears the tunnel, one of the crew appears and asks if the seat next
to Youno is taken. Youno informs him that there are plenty of other seats on
the train (i.e. get the hell away from me). He replies by insisting that he was
merely looking for a child... a child of the gods... for this is the time of
darkness... the Ankoku Kyoudan has killed the gods... and the gods of darkness
are born...

Upon arrival in Union Square in San Francisco, Rizing informs the others that
he was raised here, in the Japan town section of San Francisco (west of Union
Square). He leads the others to his old home, and inside Rizing receives a
phone call from none other than Yumemi, who is waiting for him at the Fisher
Wharf (northeast of the Union Square). After Rizing tells Yumemi he'll be
there, Zengo tells him that he and Youno will wait for him.
At Fisher's Wharf, Yumemi greets Rizing (and insists to him she's no longer a
child when he puts his hand on her head, which apparently in Japanese culture -
or anime at least - is a sign that you believe the person whose head you have
your hand on is a child, at least to the person whose head your head is on) and
informs him, freckled face blushing mildly, that she has come from Memphis to be
a famous Hollywood actress. She has to go, but first she hands Rizing a letter
to take to Try in the China Theater in Chinatown (east of Union Square) and a
Chinese treasure lot (as in lottery); she also has him promise (pinky swear -
just like that fateful day when they were little) to see her again.
On his way back, Rizing runs into Zengo, who is curious, and Youno, who is
concerned. Contrary to what Zengo might think, Rizing insists that Yumemi is
merely an old friend from six years ago. In Chinatown we discover that a
certain baboon is not quite dead yet, and that there's a new film by the famous
director Ron Terry, the sequel to the previous Manto movie. Plus all the town's
kids have gone to the China Theater and haven't come back yet. Of course, as
Rizing is a VIP, he gets free access to the VIP Room in the theater, where the
interactive move is redefined (even before it's been defined). Mrs. Hoo greets
you once inside past the Chinese geisha and asks you to follow her to the VIP
screening room where they have been invited by Ron Terry himself.
Upon entering Terry Film's insane Film Dungeon (or Dangion, if you prefer)
where you must fight B-movie aliens, Youno jumps to wild conclusions by
suggesting that that woman tricked them. At The End are the ghosts of the
dungeon - Michelle and Meryl - who swear that they will kill all humans - until
you defeat them, at which point they come to their senses, realizing you are not
bad people and you have warm hearts, and now they can rest at ease.
When you return to the real world you will be greeted by the Chinese geisha
who insist that you be quiet as they help you escape the theater. As it turns
out, Mrs. Hoo has been sending the children to Alcatraz, the place of the devil.
Try has been sent as well; the girls implore Rizing and co. to save them, but
first they must head to Fisher Wharf. Unfortunately, Mrs. Hoo shows up to
impede your escape. She begs for the forgiveness of Hollywood Tycoon (which is
originally a Japanese word - taikun - with its spelling massacred, did you know
that?) Ron Terry, but he's not around, so...
At Fisher Wharf the ladies reveal a 4000-year-old Chinese secret which
requires the recital of the following sacred words:
Sashimii! Hoi! Sashimiii!
Sashimii! Hoi! Sashimiii!
This sacred song releases the 4000-year-old Chinese... mecha... part of 4000
years of Chinese history... (they had some pretty high-tech stuff around 2000
BC, didn't they) called Sashimi Marine, which can be used to access the island
of Alcatraz.
Piloting the Sashimi Marine, you can fire torpedoes using the X, Y, or Z
buttons.
The welcoming committee at Alcatraz consists of four angry black riders (from
Mordor? and they're not riding anything). The people locked up inside beg you
to defeat the evil Douglas holding them captive. Unfortunately, Douglas is not
that easy to beat; Rizing and friends end up separated and imprisoned. No one,
Douglas insists, has ever been able to escape Alcatraz (except that one guy).
He then reads the letter for Try Rizing was carrying out loud; it is a list of
kids who had come to Hollywood. It seems there is a spy in Hollywood, Douglas
asserts, and Rizing is in league with that person. During the imates' recess,
Rizing learns from Youno that Douglas has gone to Los Angeles. Rizing also
receives a bomb from one inmate, which he is to give to Try, who has a plan.
Tonight, Try says, they will break out.
--- ESCAPE FROM ALCATRAZ ---
That night, Try proceeds to bomb the way out of Alcatraz (where'd he get so
many explosives?). You should do your best to avoid the guards since you've got
no weapons or armor. Instead, search out the guard on the top floor who has the
key. After he's defeated all the others will disappear, and you can recover
your items and free your friends. The Chinese geisha show up just in time with
the Sashimi Marine and a rescue boat for the prisoners before Alcatraz goes up
in flames.
Although Try wishes to celebrate upon arrival at Fisher Wharf, Youno points
out that Yumemi has now been captured and they should head for Hollywood.
To get to Hollywood, which is in Los Angeles, the team will have to go
through Yosemite; however, the climb up the mountain is too difficult on foot.
But Try has a solution: the Sukiyaki Tank, another 4000-year-old Chinese...
mecha. When Zengo asks why it's underneath Fisher Wharf, Try tells him to shut
up and explains that it adds 雰囲気 (fun'iki) - that is, atmosphere.
The Sukiyaki Tank is most useful for destroying boulders on the way through
Yosemite. Just as the party reaches the bridge past the Yosemite village,
however, a giant monkey appears and destroys it. Fortunately, as Rizing and the
others are about to leave, who should appear but none other than Try, everyone's
favorite Chinese wok-sporting monk, with yet another 4000-year-old Chinese
mecha... Tenpura Fly, in which Rizing can safely cross the ravine. With the
Tenpura Fly you'll be able to travel in style over the tops of the heads of
various nefarious demons on the way to Los Angeles.
Los Angeles, as you will soon find out, is a real dump, or at least the part
in front of the Hollywoodland gate. Hollywoodland - the land of broken dreams.
The 13th letter in Hollywoodland is 'D,' and that 'D' stands for 'Death,' as one
indigent slum-dweller points out. You'll notice there are few kids in Los
Angeles's slums - this is because Ron Terry has invited them all to
Hollywoodland to be film stars. Rumors of spies abound, and the Hollywoodland
gate's closed night and day, presumably to keep the riffraff out. The only way
in is via audition - Ron Terry, you see, is looking for child stars (18 and
under only), which means Zengo can't come with you despite his protests that he
is only 12 years old. Anyway, Rizing and Youno both get accepted during their
audition (all Rizing had to do was show up) and are invited to the theater where
they are promptly gassed after Ron Terry shows up assuring that everyone here
will be a star. Luckily, Zengo appears in the nick of time to bust everyone out
of there. As they leave, a mysterious pierrot shows up with a newspaper
announcing the arrest of Yumemi - the alleged spy. In an alley Youno spots
Terry through a window with a woman named Catherine protesting that Yumemi is
innocent. Ron Terry takes care of this nuisance by brainwashing her. Once
inside, Rizing asks where Yumemi is, Terry informs him that she going to be part
of a ceremony before sending a few demons after you and running off.
Getting past the large cardboard cutout doorway that leads to Ron Terry
requires the use of a four-color code (it's red-blue-yellow-green). Rizing,
Youno, and Zengo are in trouble, however, when Terry's gang shows up. Yumemi,
tied to the letter 'D,' tells Rizing to run, and Terry tells her to scream some
more. Terry then goes into a speech about how all humans weak of strength, weak
of heart, bad of face, and just generally ugly should die, and reveals that he
is a member of the Ankoku Kyoudan (as if you hadn't figured that out already).
Yumemi then calls on amazing powers to free herself and send the goons
flying. Ron Terry flees to Death Valley.
Upon arriving on the ground, Yumemi says she feels very alone, but Rizing
reminds her that there are friends all around her now. She joins the party.
Peace returns to Los Angeles.
The party finds Ron Terry at Death Valley, which he informs you will become
your grave. Instead of taking you on himself, however, he sends the enormous
King Manto to destroy you. Just in the nick of time (as usual), Try shows up
and summons the three 4000-year-old mecha - and then commands them to combine
into the amazing, all-powerful GEISHA ROBO! Needless to say, Zengo is awed.
Controlling Geish Robo (or King Manto in the arcade game in Las Vegas):
- Move forward or back using left or right on the control pad
- A-button: guard
- B-button: jab
- C-button: straight
- X-button: Geisha Waltz (or Let's Dance! for King Manto)
Afterwards, King Manto uses his final desperate attack to destroy Geisha
Robo; however, she is not dead, merely separated into tiny Geisha Robos which
destroy the evil King Manto. Ron Terry isn't too disappointed, however; "King
Manto vs. Geisha Robo" would make a great movie (or game, for that matter). Of
course, he's not going to let you get away that easily. He then reveals that
sometimes he is also shop owner and idol singer producer Mr. Ashimoto, sometimes
he is one of the crew on the train from Lake Tahoe, sometimes he is Douglas, the
head warden at Alcatraz, and other times he is a mysterious pierrot (Urusei
Yatsura 3, anyone?), but in reality he is Ankoku Kyoudan's man of a thousand
faces - Ron Terry. After his defeat, he tells you that the next one from the
Ankoku Kyoudan is Madame Appetit. Just as all seemed well, however, Yumemi,
begins to feel pain in her head as she witnesses her brother captured by the
Ankoku Kyoudan; she also sees a sign with the letters 'A-R-I-Z-O-N-A' (note that
'Z' is often pronounced 'zed' in Japanese due to the problems associated with
pronouncing the letter Z), where Rizing and co. must now go. Yumemi explains
that she has dreams, all of which seem to come true. After extinguishing the
fire, the team heads for Arizona.

The first stop in Arizona is the forgotten village Las Vegas. There's not
much here but a simple shop and a couple people. Try, however, sees great plans
for this town - he plans to turn it into a neon oasis in the desert - of course,
he'll need $100 first. It's well worth the money, of course; you'll be back
often.
In the Indian village in Monument Valley the team learns about the towns of
Phoenix and Tombstone to the south. Tombstone, it seems, has become a town of
fat people, and strange stuff in general has been happening in Phoenix. Also,
Indian warrior Scar Wolf has passed through recently, mentioning that he was
headed for Mexico.
Finally, coming to Phoenix, which can't be entered the first time at night,
Rizing is approached by a man who fears for his daughter's life after receiving
an ominous letter from a villain known only as 'D,' which the man assumes stands
for 'Dracula' (although one of the fortune-telling Indian shamans tells you it
might stand for 'Death' or 'Devil'). He takes you inside to meet his daughter
Karen, who is terribly afraid of the night.
The other townspeople are more concerned with the current rise in the
heavyset population of Arizona and Ace, the mysterious masked cowboy hero. A
lot of people in Arizona simply claim 'Big is beautiful' ('ビッグ イズ
ビューティフル!'); it does seem a bit odd. Stopping in Sherry's Bar, the party
meets Cherry Aaps, the rather nervous town sheriff. He's a bit insecure
since the mindset in Arizona is that if you're not fat, you're not 'Manly (tm).'
The bartender (Sherry, I assume) gives him a plate of spaghetti (at a bar?) to
fatten him up (the fact that he ordered a hamburger notwithstanding). Just
then, a couple of shady, obese Traditional Old West Outlaw Types (tm) start
harassing him for not eating enough. Cherry then walks off abashed to the
restroom. As soon as he is gone, the mysterious masked stranger Ace enters and
prepares to take care of business. After Ace vanishes and the gunmen head for
parts unknown (well, Tombstone, actually), Cherry returns and innocently
inquires as to what happens. Nothing remotely suspicious here.
Returning to the house of Karen's father, Rizing learns he is too late. 'D,'
as it turns out, stands for 'debu,' which is slang for 'fat.' Thus we learn of
the curse of the fat people in Arizona. All signs point to Tombstone, where
Rizing must now go. There's a small problem, though, as you will discover when
you come into town - only people weighing over a hundred kilos can enter (the
girl's OK, insists the gunman, because she's a 'pet') - and not even Zengo
weighs that much. Of course, once they recognize you from the bar in Phoenix,
Butch (the guy with the shades) and Ike (the guy without the shades) are ready
for a fight. Beaten, they run off. Everyone's surprised to see such a bunch of
skinny people in town. There's something amiss, however; the 'pet' mentioned
earlier is sick of all these fat people. Of course, these guys are not too
happy about being insulted, so they decide to take her downstairs. What ensues
is something that you'll have to see for yourself - although it's probably
better that you don't see it. After the fat guys leave, Linda recovers and
introduces herself, deciding that if she's going to able to leave, she'll need
to blend in, so she dons an inconspicuous disguise to escape. As thanks, she
gives you her disguise, with which you can enter the buildings with weight-
sensitive security devices (which leads me to wonder why they need those if only
heavy people are allowed in town).
Madame Appetit's humble abode is in the northern-most part of town.
Undoubtedly the most disgusting town in the whole game, you will be honored to
witness the feast on the top floor - where people are bingeing and purging...
it's enough to make you violently ill. Madame Appetit introduces herself and
her cuddly cat Estragon (エストラゴン) and asks you to gorge yourself until you
vomit much. She then departs after she receives a message from Ike.
One floor down, Youno overhears a discussion among Madame Appetit and her
subordinates - the Clinton brothers - about Ace - described by one gunman as
stronger than four men - and she warns them about Rizing, who is A-ranked on the
Ankoku Kyoudan blacklist. Ike and Butch decide they can take care of Rizing and
Ace, although the kid Billy is skeptical.
Back in the Sheriff's office in Phoenix, it appears that Linda too had fallen
under the curse (that's why you don't eat the biscuits). Billy then shows up on
behalf of the Clinton brothers to challenge you to a showdown at the OK
Corral...
As soon as you arrive back in Tombstone, Cherry blurts out that he's just
remembered some urgent business he has to attend you. He tells you to go on
ahead. Then Ace shows up, announcing that, as Cherry's chickened out, he'll
have to take his place. As you approach the corral, Ace asks for the disguise,
as it'd be too heavy for Rizing to carry during battle.
The Clinton brothers taunt Rizing's party to come to them and die - but don't
touch the haystacks or you'll explode. When you reach them, they prepare to
commence 'Operation Kill,' as Ike terms it. Although Billy is not actually one
of the Clinton brothers, any enemy of them is an enemy of him, he says. They
then transform into the Debu Rangers (Debu Blue, Debu Red, and Debu Green).
In one of the rooms on the third floor, Ace spots Billy (who seems to have
lost a few kilos). Billy says he's begun to question Appetit's judgment (it
took him this long?), although Ace doesn't believe him. Billy leaves after
Yumemi intervenes, insisting that Billy's telling the truth. On the top floor,
Billy asks Appetit what she is doing; she explains she is turning humans into
domesticated animals. Then Ace challenges Madame Appetit, pointing out weak
point of fat - it's slow - or so he thinks. Appetit counters (after dodging all
his bullets) by stating that fat is wise, strong, and fast... and immediately
breaks into song.
After the battle, Ace has to admit that Billy really showed him. As a
reward, he presents Billy with a badge of the peace-keeping force. From now on,
Billy must protect this town, and Billy is amazed when he learns that Ace is
really Cherry. Yet again Rizing has returned peace to a part of America, and
all the people are thin (well, the ones that had eaten the biscuits, anyway)
again. Outside Tombstone, Ace then tells Billy to report to Linda that Cherry
Aaps has died; now he truly has become Ace. He bids an abayo to Rizing and then
heads off. Suddenly, Tombstone is replaced with a rather large crater (ah,
well, the food-shaped houses made me ill anyway), and Yumemi is hit by another
vision. It seems the party responsible for Tombstone's destruction is in
Houston (those damn Orbital Beam Satellites are EVERYWHERE!), and the only way
there is through Carlsbad Caverns, the key to which Billy promptly hands over.
After disposing of Arizona's Fire of Eden and checking out Phoenix, the party
heads for Carlsbad and the second CD.

Once out of Carlsbad Caverns, you will meet an old friend - Magu - who is
overjoyed to see Yumemi and Rizing again - espcially now that Rizing is a
renowned Demon Hunter. He invites you onto the moving fortress known as the
Alamo, intended to fight the Ankoku Kyoudan. Magu then introduces you to
General Custer, leader of the Taiyou Juuji Gun (太陽十字軍) - literally the Sun
Cross Army - and commander of the Alamo. The Sun Cross Army's mission is to
fight to take back America's freedom. Custer asks you to back up the Army and
leaves Magu to show you around the Alamo. During your exploration, you will
meet Dr. M, the strange genius responsible for the Alamo who is a bit surprised
to see that the great Rizing is just a kid. The troop in the infirmary will
allow you to rest and save your game. The bunk room may be a bit crowded and
dirty (with cool posters on the wall - whee!), but you really can't talk about
luxury; this is a real battle, not a game. On the top floor is the control room
where General Custer pilots the Alamo. Finally, Magu will show you your room
next to the infirmary; he explains that tomorrow the Alamo will be traveling to
Dallas, where they will discuss everything, including the mysterious Dokuro
Project which not even Magu knows about, and that he must speak with the
president.
The next morning, however, Magu has already left, and Custer informs the
group that the president has been taken by demons; he orders immediate advance
to Dallas now that he knows Magu's life is in danger. Magu is injured, saying
he saw the God of Death in the president, and Dr. M tells the others that only
something called the Tequila of Fire in Mexico can save Magu's
life. Yumemi says that she will go with Rizing and the others to look for it,
but Magu begs that she stay since it has been so long since they've seen each
other. As he falls into the reminiscences of childhood, Yumemi agrees to stay
with him. Zengo assures her that he, Youno, and Rizing will find the Tequila of
Fire. Custer wishes them luck as the head for the city on the border of the
country.

Not long after the party is welcomed into Mexico, some guy in a wagon crashes
into a cactus before their feet. The man laughs and introduces himself as Bob,
a Jamaican living in Mexico. When Youno is curious about his hand driven cart,
he explains that it's a substitute bobsleigh (or bobsley, as it is romanized in
the game, and no, it doesn't say bobsled, unless the 'd' is silent), and that
he's a bobsley coach in this land. (Can you say cool runnings? 'cuz even if
you won't, Bob will later...) Zengo is confused, since he thought bobsleighs
required snow, and Bob mentioned he was from Jamaica. Bob explains the Jamaica
is now the real place for bobsleighing. When Youno protests, insisting that
snow doesn't fall in Jamaica in the south, Bob responds that it's not snow
that's important, it's SPIRIT (スピリット)! Bob then invites everyone to his
home, mentioning that he'll take care of the thing on Zengo's head. Bob says
he's never heard of the Tequila of Fire, but he tells the party to be careful,
since cacti are not the only things with thorns in this land.
Once inside the town of El Paso, you'll be greeted with actual Spanish
phrases (followed by their Japanese equivalents, of course), which I do not know
how to spell since I never took Spanish, and rumors of the undead and a huge
gold pyramid in the jungle - a man named Romero would have more information.
Other townspeople describe Bob as a strange but good person who carries a reggae
rhythm with him.
As they are about to leave El Paso, four half-dead-looking kids walk by
chanting 'Lady Belladonna' heading for Bob's house. Bob introduces the kids as
his bobsley team; he says they can run the 100-meters in 10 seconds (damn, yo).
Contrary to what Bob might believe, however, they inform him that they won't be
bobsleying anymore - needless to say, Bob is shocked ('Why? What you say?').
They leave, explaining that they now live to serve 'her' eternally. He then
asks to join you so that he may find out what happened to their smiling faces
and why they are as cold as death to the touch. Bob directs you to Mexico City,
where the kids live. After seeing his fighting power, however, the others have
doubts about Bob's true nature. Bob explains that he is Jamaica's strongest
fighter; however, there is a demon inside his body which has brought him to
Mexico, but he'd rather not talk about it at the moment.
Youno smells death in Mexico City. Few doors are open, and the few people
wandering around town are confused traders who know less than you do as to where
everyone is. The museum is open, however, although Romero, the curator, is a
bit odd, but this comes from having nothing to do. He does know what's happened
to the village - all the people have turned into zombies.
They don't eat and they have the eyes of the dead, yet they live; they must
be zombies. He also explains that the Tequila of Fire is not an alcoholic
drink. After looking around the museum, he will tell you he forgot to mention
that at night he can hear a mysterious voice; he then found four black robes
which he gives to you. As you are leaving, he remembers something, and tells
you to wear the robes as disguises. Now Rizing and the others must wait until
nightfall. If you were to make a brief stopover in Oaxaca during this time, you
would see amazing giant heads and learn that the Tequila of Fire is a jewel from
the ancient Tecate civilization.
Returning at night to Mexico City you will find the mansion's doors open with
others in black robes headed inside where the ceremony is taking place... the
ceremony to welcome another into the world of the undead. After the rite is
performed, however, Belladonna notices that some here do not belong. Her
servant Balam removes your robes, and, upon seeing him, knocks Bob down cold.
She thens sends her other servant Chilam to send you to the world of dreams.
Upon waking, the party performs a check of their stuff and their selves,
making sure they've still got their hearts. After all appears well, Bob
suggests they head back to Romero's, though Youno thinks she recognizes those
eyes, and the voice she heard...
Back in the museum, Romero is up to his usual tricks (and receives a beating
from Bob for it). The party relates their experience last night, and Romero
directs you to Oaxaca since it reminds him of the Tecate civilization.
A ritual is taking place in Oaxaca, and Zengo immediately interprets it as
some kind of demonic ceremony. The kids explain it as the festival of the day
of the dead - although one of them actually is a zombie. After the other kids
scatter, Bob confronts Chilam and the zombies. Just as Bob looks about ready to
kill, Chilam produces Bob's one weak spot - reggae - which draws out the demon
inside him. Bob says it is a curse to him, but Youno points out he's merely
running from useful power. Bob counters, asking how she could possibly
understand his feelings, but Youno tells him to use his power to fight evil.
Bob finally agrees, and Romero shows up. Despite Bob's protests, Romero says he
knows the secret of the zombies. In the old legend, if you give zombies the
Medicine of the Dead, he explains, they will long for their hearts and become
weak. Thus he demonstrates by applying the medicine to the zombies before them,
who promptly run off throught the jungle to demand their hearts back at the
ancient pyramid, where you must now go.
In order to make your way up the pyramid, you will have to find the two
Hearts of Stone and place them in the proper receptacles just outside the
entrance for each floor; this will cause the stairs to fall down. Unfortunately
for you, much of the time Youno will be having chest pains and she will not be
able to fight during many of her turns in battle (damned pyramids,
so dusty in here, pyramid sanitation crews have absolutely no consideration for
poor Youno). At the top you will be greeted by Balam. Bob orders them to
return the children to normal, so Balam invites them to see Belladonna
themselves. Once in Belladonna's chamber, Bob demands she return the children's
hearts. Belladonna assures them that she will; she then instructs Youno to kill
those who interfere with her plans. She beckons Youno to her, who then reveals
that her heart too has been taken (which explains why she had no reflection in
the mirror and why she was having chest pains - it wasn't the dust), but she
still fights for good. That is, until Belladonna reveals who Balam really is -
a face from Youno's past - Scar Wolf, whom Youno had been in love with. He too
has been taken by the Ankoku Kyoudan. Youno insists that he is not Scar Wolf,
but he maintains that he could have killed them all that night in Belladonna's
mansion, but his love for her stood in the way. Instead, he begged Belladonna
to allow her to enter their family - but she would have to be undead first (so
the undead have feelings too?). Then he says he is no longer Scar Wolf, but the
warrior of darkness, Balam. He orders her to kill the others and join them.
Youno has no choice - she prepares to kill Rizing and the others. Belladonna
leaves for the others to do the dirty work - but without Belladonna to maintain
control over her, Youno turns back against Balam, who is not Scar Wolf. After
being beaten, the Ankoku Kyoudan loses control over him, and he says it is good
to see Youno again. He reminisces for a bit and thanks Youno for allowing him
to die peacefully as Scar Wolf. After he passes on, Youno asks for his strength
to defeat Belladonna.
--- A moment of silence for Scar Wolf ---
Once Rizing, Youno, Zengo, and Bob reach Belladonna, she asks Youno how it
feels to kill one's own lover. Youno responds that Scar Wolf is not dead; her
anger is Wolf's anger. Belladonna then explains that the hearts are needed to
give life energy to the pyramid, which she insists is a living thing. After her
defeat, Belladonna cries out that she wasn't supposed to die, which she does,
and all the hearts are returned to their rightful owners. Rizing takes the
Tequila of Fire (forgot about that, didn't you) left behind after Belladonna's
death.
As soon as you make it down the pyramid, Bob's team arrives, and he announces
that it's time to bobsley (see? I told you they spelled it that way). Entry
Number 5 - Mexican Cruise wins (as if there were any doubt). Bob stays in El
Paso and uses his newly rediscovered power to protect the smiles of children.
Bob bids the party Cool Runnings (I warned you, didn't I?) and they cross the
gate back into America, where Youno decides she is going on a journey. She's
made up her mind; there's no need for sayonara, however, since they will
undoubtedly meet again. Thus Rizing and Zengo head back to the Alamo alone.

Once back in the Alamo, Rizing delivers the Tequila of Fire in the infirmary,
and Magu recovers. Yumemi is relieved as the color returns to Magu's face. Dr.
M, however, has other plans; he snags the Tequila and bolts out the window, his
ominous last words 'for the Dokuro Project.' (You just knew he had to be a bad
guy.) Custer makes the order to pursue him to Houston. Yumemi joins the party
again, and Custer relinquishes control of the mobile fortress to you. Moving
around, firing, and entering/exiting the Alamo is the same as the Sukiyaki Tank;
however, you can also explore the Alamo by pressing START.
It doesn't seem that Houston is willing to let you in (it keeps fading in and
out), so a quick stop at Dallas might shed some light on the situation. It
doesn't. Everyone in Dallas is scared out of their minds over this whole 'God
of Death' thing. No one expects to be able to live through the night. However,
by driving around Houston, you can figure out that the three monuments -
Colossus (コロッサス, north), Rosetta (ロゼッタ, southwest), and Monolith
(モノリス, southeast) - surrounding the town need to be taken out. After the
first one is disposed of, however, the Alamo receives an emergency message from
Carlsbad - the mountain has moved. Custer doesn't understand what that's
supposed to mean, but he's worried about the small town anyway. As it turns
out, Carlsbad is in ruins (though not a crater like Tombstone, a victim of the
Dokuro Project), and everyone keeps repeating that 'the mountain moved.'
After all three monuments are destroyed, the Sun Cross Army can attack
Houston. Before they can, however, a sound arrests their attention, and a
blood-trailing soldier crawls in the room, uttering only "the God of Death"
before dying. Custer decides to look for the fiend responsible, and Yumemi
suggests searching as well; the bar is drenched in blood, and after seeing the
corpse in the bunk and the writing on the wall, Yumemi feels dire concern for
Magu. Luckily, Magu is merely asleep, and Yumemi's temporary fears are allayed.
Back in the control room, however, Custer lies dead in a pool of blood. At this
point Magu enters (finally awake) and, grieving over the loss of his leader, he
says he had entered the Sun Cross Army with the hopes that he would someday
become a man like General Custer, and issues a challenge to the God of Death
with revenge on his mind. Amazingly enough, the God of Death responds - or
rather Skull Beat from the Ankoku Kyoudan, between whom and the God of Death
confusion is understandable. From then on, Magu takes command of the Alamo and
orders it to move on Houston (yes, there is a bit of load time there). Enraged,
he rams the moving fortress into the newly made aperture in the side of Houston.
When Magu becomes frustrated that he cannot simply plow over the city, Rizing
announces that he will take care of Houston himself. Magu concurs and leaves
the operation up to America's #1 Demon Hunter.
Unfortuantely, the only door that will open in Houston leads to the Energy
Shaft; luckily, who should come to the party's aid but none other than the great
American Hero Ace, who promptly joins the party. The technology center at the
Houston complex does little to aid you (though you can see the neat-o flashing
lights and big machines that *WOW* compute stuff), and you will more likely trip
over the heavy cords and frightened scientists than put a stop to the Dokuro
Project here. At the top, however, you will meet the president, or so Yumemi
thinks, until Ace demonstrates that he is a mere robot. You then have 10
minutes to defeat the fake president before the destruction of Seattle, San
Francisco, Las Vegas, Phoenix, and the Houston base. Ace successfully disables
the system using his technical knowhow and the cities are safe. Just as the
party is about to leave, however, the mountain moves - that is, Skull Beat's
giant Dokuro Battletank appears and fires on Houston. Rizing then advises that
they make a hasty retreat before Houston crumbles around them. Magu pulls the
Alamo out of Houston just in time and charges on the Dokuro Tank (is this really
wise?). The Alamo is hit, however, and when Magu orders the fortress onward,
the crew is hesitant. Yet Magu reiterates Custer's words - never give up - and
delineates a line that will decide who is with him and who is not. Magu thanks
you for your support (you DID join him, didn't you?), and the Alamo continues
its seemingly hopeless fight. In a desperate attack, the Sun Cross Army rams
the Dokuro battletank, allowing entry inside, but Magu is injured. Once again,
Magu must leave the fight to Rizing and the others, who board Skull Beat's tank.
In Skull Beat's room, he talks about his plans to rule America, the
irrepressible fear of death, and the notion that he is going to send Rizing and
his friends to hell. After Skull Beat is beaten, Magu shows up to congratulate
and thank Rizing for getting revenge. But Magu needs Rizing's strength once
more to go to Minnesota and defeat Dr. M since the Alamo is out of commission.
Thus the God of Death is destroyed.
Meanwhile, however, Dr. M reports to Lord Sanetomo that Rizing and the others
are preparing to enter Minnesota. He insists the strength of his power will be
more than enough to deal with Rizing's power; he then leaves. Karube then
appears and Sanetomo instructs him to prepare himself.

The first stop in Minnesota is the Indian village of Rushmore. The holy
mountain of Rushmore has been defiled with the nauseating visage of Dr. M.
Local hearsay reports that Youno has been through this village recently and that
she has told tales of Rizing. In one home Rizing learns that once, fourteen
years ago, Red Bear had passed through with the very young Rizing. Mention is
also made of a strange mecha robot denying passage across the Missouri River, on
which there is another Indian village, where it would seem most prudent to head
next.
In the village of Missouri, Minnesota, there is talk of a strange sickness
infecting a child in Salt Lake City through the cave to the west; however, in
this cave the Saa Wolf dwells with the power to curse Rizing, making his spells
ineffectual - better bring lots of Remove Curse medicine. There is also
reported to be trouble in Minneapolis to the north; no traders seem to be able
to sell food there; could it be similar to the zombie incident in Mexico? There
is also a legend surrounding the six Fires of Eden - in Alaska, California,
Arizona, Texas, Mexico, and Minnesota - leading to the legendary metropolis,
rumored to be in Louisiana.
Rizing manages to cleverly dispose of the robot blocking passage across the
Missouri; unfortunately, the party inadvertently disposes of the bridge, as
well. Thus the only way to go is west.
Once in Salt Lake City, Rizing learns that the young boy Jon has fallen under
a strange illness which has turned his skin blue. As it turns out, the
condition is not an illness but a curse. Jon, in bed, indicates the picture
book, which goes like this:
Cynthia was a girl who loved to draw.
One day, her mama bought her a set of 24 different color crayons.
The crayons became Cynthia's treasures.
However, one day it happened that the lying devil Puppukupuu stole the skin-
colored crayon.
"That's horrible! Give back the skin-colored crayon! I can't draw Mama's face
without it!"
But Puppukupuu spoke.
"Cynthia! This isn't the skin-colored crayon!
"Now it is your blue crayon! That is the true color of skin!"
"The color of skin isn't the color of skin, but it is really blue?"
Thinking about this, Cynthia became frightened.
"Mamaa!"
As Cynthia ran, her face deep blue, she saw that as her mama turned around, her
face had also become blue.
The End
Upon reading this Rizing turns blue. As Yumemi rushes worried to his side,
she too turns blue. As Zengo tries to find out what has happened to Yumemi, he
too turns blue. Ace tries vainly to keep from Zengo from turning him blue, but,
alas, none are safe from the evil blue curse. (You may note, if you attempt to
do this, that Ace will not allow you to leave the cave of the Saa Wolf back into
the rest of America.) After painting half the town blue, Rizing finally
afflicts Jon's mother as well, who explains that the book was written by the
painter Stuart. But the first time he read the book, Jon said the inside
changed, and to get rid of the curse, the original story inside must be
restored. When Stuart is first encountered, however, he is perturbed by the
intrusion on his work. After looking at you, however, he sends you with the
bucket to fetch some water from the lake. After the filled bucket is returned,
Stuart prepares the easel for you to draw a person's face.
Drawing a face:
- Holding the A button draws in black, the B button in white, and the C button
erases.
- Press L or R to cycle through the easel and the side options.
- The bomb icon clears the easel.
- The Stuart icon cycles through premade faces for non-artists like me ^_^.
- The running man icon accepts the picture on the easel.
You will now be allowed to name the character in the painting, and, by some
magic (tm), the character comes to life (voiced by none other than the lovely
world-famous Yokoyama Chisa, who plays Galaxy Fraulein Yuna's Yuna (among
others), which happens to also be released by Hudson and brought to you by Red).
The NPC (as referred to by the manual) then joins your party to enter the world
of the picture book in order to remove the curse of blue. The five of you then
enter the magical albeit frightening two-dimensional pop-up storybook land of
death. Once the Puppukupuu is defeated, the people of Salt Lake City are
returned to normal and the curse is gone. The NPC then insists that Rizing read
the book again, which now reads:
Cynthia was a girl who loved to draw.
One day, her mama bought her a set of 24 different color crayons.
The crayons became Cynthia's treasures.
However, one day it happened that her good friend Puppukupuu pointed out the
skin-colored crayon.
"Cynthia! This isn't the skin-colored crayon!
"Certainly, this crayon may be the color of your skin.
"But, in this world there are also people with black skin, people with red
skin, and people with yellow skin!"
As he said this, the Puppukupuu brought together all the friends.
They were friends gathered from around the world. With all of them, Cynthia
played happily.
The End
Unfortunately, as the story was finished, the NPC began to cry tears of joy from
being able to help. However, he/she (it?) forgot that water causes paper to
shrivel up and only hopes that, as the NPC will always remember Rizing, Rizing
will not forget him/her. Jon decides then that, when grows up and becomes a
father, he will name his child after the NPC.
But while peace and tranquility have been restored to Salt Lake City, there
still exists the matter of the bridge over the Missouri. Fortunately, your NPC
transforms into an orb, which Rizing takes, and can be used at the edge of the
old bridge to form a beautiful rainbow bridge across the river.
In Minneapolis, the next town, Rizing meets a rather... unusual... boy and
his dog. The locals insist that all is well and that the Ankoku Kyoudan
presents no threat to them. One girl asks what 1 + 2 + 3 - 4 is (it's not 1)
and explains that that is 4-bit style math. The boy next to her will give you
the time in a 24-hour clock (based on your Saturn's clock). Finally, while
passing by an old woman in front of her house, Zengo is called, and the old
woman says he reminds her of her dead grandson. She then invites you inside to
sleep with a devilish laugh. In the middle of the night, Yumemi and Rizing are
awakened by chickens and leave to investigate. The old woman outside insists
that what appears to be a guy in a chicken suit is really 'Neo Cattle' (um...
mayhaps she needs to brush up her knowledge of livestock). The 'Neo-Cattle,'
meanwhile, are begging for help. After a thorough observation of the town's
farming facilities, Rizing decides it would be prudent to get some more sleep.
Upon awakening, however, Zengo is gone. When she is questioned, the old lady
insists that she has never heard of any such samurai named Zengo. However, Ace
has been taking some Effective Arguing courses, and he points out that if she
didn't know who Zengo was, she wouldn't have known he was a samurai. She
doesn't have much to say to that; instead, furniture falls on her, separating
her head from the rest of her body. The reason she isn't dead, she explains, is
because she is still young. She promptly boots everyone out the door. There is
no doubt about it now; this town is just plain weird.
Across the bridge is St. Paul where the townspeople seem a bit more - well,
human. The town is not without its oddities, however; there is a large factory
in the northeastern corner of town with an enormous one of those perpetual
motion dunking birds attached to it called 'Devo.' Inside you will have to
navigate tricky conveyor belts; the control panels will change their direction
for as many seconds as you tell it to. This should be fairly easy. Once
outside, 'Neo-cattle' will demonstrate for you the proper method for making
keys, and you will meet Zengo - who has... changed (he's lost weight) - but Ace
assures him that once Dr.M is defeated Zengo will be his normal self again.
Upstairs you will find a machine which processes eggs placed in it. If the
switches are activated according to the Neo-cattles' demonstration, the machine
will produce a key for you. With the Egg Key one can enter the Devo control
center. However, the room is guarded by the deadly ninja android Robot Number
3, who orders the intruders to drop their weapons and surrender.
Of course, you're not going to do that. Unfortunately, he's pretty damn
obstinate, and won't yield to you even after you beat him; only after the second
battle does he short out. As a result, he accepts you as his new masters and
requests your command. Even though Yumemi feels that he has had a change of
heart (so to speak), Ace can't trust Robot Number 3. Finally, however, Ace
instructs the robot to defeat Dr. M. However, the robot requires an ID code
before he can carry out his task. The party misinterprets this as a request for
a new command and assumes he didn't understand the instruction, so they instead
tell him to follow them. Ace becomes irate when the robot remains unmoving and
again prompts for the code; he finally yells "Come on!" at the robot, who
interprets this as 'Kamon,' his name (and the required ID Code). Kamon then
joins the party (Yamaguchi Kappei and Yamadera Kou'ichi reunited at last!).
At that point, Dr. M graces us with another appearance (more than half the
stuff this guy says is ad-libbing). He invites you - the Clan of Fire
(火の一族) - to come to Chicago where he has many traps awaiting you. The first
trap requires you to escape from the factory as it is going to explode in ten
minutes. He invites Robot Number 3 as well so that he might learn his place.
Once in Chicago Dr. M will tell you over the phone that he awaits you atop
Sears Tower. First, however, you will have to clear 5 traps (the first being
the exploding factory in St. Paul). Thus you must face trap number 2 inside the
building with the cat symbol before it. Inside the building, Kamon informs you
that all the cats are robots. If you tread too near the black cats they will
explode; the white cats will do battle with you. He then informs you that the
X/Y/Z buttons can be used to affect the behavior of the cats. X will draw the
white cats toward you and repel the black cats; Y works in the opposite manner;
and Z will cause all the cats to stop where they are.
Once on top the cat building, Dr. M will tell over the phone that trap number
3 is in the blue building. Once across the bridge (don't fall!) and inside,
Kamon explains that the room is filled with laser beams invisible to the human
eye that do quite a large amount of damage; for those of you for which this is
not great enough a deterrent (and I know there are plenty of you), you will also
not be able to pass through the beam either. He then tells you that the X/Y/Z
buttons can be used to filter the room so that beams of a certain color (X = red
filter, Y = green filter, Z = blue filter) can be seen. All you have to do is
avoid the laser beams.
Back outside, Dr. M will tell you that trap number 4 is in the red building.
Kamon will explain that to extinguish the fires, you must use color-coded fire
extinquishers accessed through the X/Y/Z buttons (X extinguishes red flames, Y
extinguishes yellow, and Z extinguishes blue). However, each extinguisher will
only douse three flames; after that they must be replenished at the terminals
denoted by the flashing red light. As a bonus I have provided here possible
solutions (there are most likely others) for each floor (except the first, but
if you can't figure that out...):
10F: Red on the right, blue, red on the right, blue, yellow on the right, yellow
on the right, right-most red, blue, yellow on the right
20F: Blue (obviously), blue, blue, red on the left, yellow in the middle, yellow
at the bottom, yellow on the left, red on the left, red on the left
30F: Blue, red, red, blue, blue, yellow on the right, red, yellow on the right,
yellow on the right
But I'm sure you could have figured that out on your own. On to trap number 5
(which, Dr. M informs you, is in the yellow building)...
Once inside the yellow building Kamon will inform you that many of the floor
tiles will explode - and you will be instantly attacked - when you step on them.
Luckily, you will be notified by a tone (which uncannily resembles my alarm
clock's alarm...) when you are near a dangerous tile. Have fun, and tread
carefully - and if you can't figure it out you've always got plenty of
restorative items, right? (or, if you were smart, you would have brought a blue
pendant won from the sumo game in San Francisco which restores your MP after
each battle)
20F: Starting from the tile in the second column of the third row:
1 down, 5 right, 4 down, 3 right, 6 up
10F: Starting from the first column from the right in the second row:
1 left, 6 down, 4 left, 5 up, 1 left, 2 up, 1 left
After clearing the fifth trap, Dr. M will again call you, and Capone (カポネ)
will appear to lead you to the top of the Sears Tower. Once in the elevator you
learn from Capone of Dr. M's 6th trap - you must defeat Mecha-Capone as the
elevator nears the highest of the 110 floors.
On the roof, Ace demands that Dr. M explain how Zengo may be returned to
normal. Dr. M responds saying humans are inferior. Machines, he argues, never
become weary, never forget, never sleep, and never die. Ace tells him to quit
screwing around. Dr. M continues and says that machines always stay loyal to
their commands - and he then points out robot number 3. When Kamon protests,
Dr. M plays evil music which shorts him out and proceeds to read off the party's
stats. Ace then remarks that the robot can't be trusted after all, and Dr. M
commands robot number 3 to destroy Rizing and his friends. So once again you
must fight robot number 3. Afterwards, however, Dr. M will prepare to fire the
cannon atop Sears Tower, but because of Kamon's kunai (クナイ) , the weapon is
destroyed. Thus he takes you on himself after undergoing an amazing (tm)
transformation. Zengo then shows up to take revenge and provide whatever help
he can in his present form.
After Dr. M is defeated, Kamon calls Rizing. He tells Rizing that the Fire
of Eden is in the room behind him, and that when the 6 Fires of Eden have been
taken back, the legendary metropolis will appear out of the sacred lake. Kamon
urges you to extinguish the Fire of Eden and go to Salt Lake where you must take
the power that the Ankoku Kyoudan fears. As Kamon continues to short out, Ace
tells him to hang on, but Kamon insists that as a robot is born from steel, so
must it return to steel; without a will of its own, it must become scrap. But
there was one important thing he did come to understand - F-R-I-E-N-D... Yumemi
orders him not to die, but Kamon can only speak of the memory of his friends
before terminating.
--- A moment of silence for Kamon ---
With the extinguishing of the final Fire of Eden and Zengo's return to normal
(normal for Zengo, anyway), there is naught left to do in Minnesota but head for
the Great Salt Lake. On the way through Saint Paul (if you did not Skywalk) you
may meet a young pigtailed girl named Lulu (ルル).
She will explain how she is alone in the world since her parents are both
gone. If you have a vacation home built in Las Vegas she will ask you to become
her big brother; say yes and she will head for Las Vegas where you can get a
special restorative item from her. Minneapolis is now entirely deserted. In
Salt Lake City if you have a vacation home you may also meet a beggar in
tattered clothes named Aritou (アリトー) whom people call the prophet. He then
says he has the vision of a home in Las Vegas and asks you if he is correct.
Answer yes, and he will head there as well.
Once in the shrine behind Salt Lake City, fire the Magic Gun at the wall,
which will then slide back, revealing stairs leading downward. Below you must
face four opponents - the Occult Warrior (玄武), White Tiger (白虎), Blue Dragon
(青龍), and Red Sparrow (朱雀) before returning to the top floor and stepping in
the circle that will cause the ancient legendary metropolis to arise. Inside a
very old man will speak to you. He has waited very, very long for you, the
Heroes of Fire. His name is Adam, and he is the first human made from the flesh
of humans. This metropolis is named Eden.
He, Yuriwaka, and Goshujin-sama (ご主人様 - 'master' or 'lord,' also used to
mean 'husband') built this pleasure garden and so named it the same as the
pleasure garden of heaven. It was a beautiful capital where flowers bloomed and
birds sang until the Absolute God Karube destroyed it 2000 years ago. Since he
is strong and does not lose, Adam, along with Yuriwaka and Goshujin-sama,
defeated Karube. He is Adam; he gives to you the ship used in the battle 2000
years ago. He has waited so long - 2000 years, to be exact - to give you this
ship called Bimaana (ビマーナ). Thus his duty is accomplished, and he may
finally sleep. Thus, after 2000 years, the Bimaana flies again.
As the party flies over America, a dark cloud appears from the east, covering
New York. Yumemi can feel a great evil born from New York. Just then, an evil
image appears in the clouds and introduces himself to the Clan of Fire as the
Great Karube. You have shown him your power with which you have defeated Dr. M;
he is thus pleased that after so long he has a new opponent to face him. He
summons Rizing to Detroit where they may once again meet Sam. He then
disappears, leaving the four hovering in a thick conglomeration of black clouds.
Yumemi's brother is in Detroit, and Ace knows that Karube has something nasty in
store for them when they meet again. Rizing then makes the order to head for
Detroit.

Detroit is a dilapidated slum where the sun never seems to shine and the
people live day to day in constant fear of the wrath of the Great Karube. Hope
does exist, however, in places such as the Hope tool shop, for instance, where
Arbeit Nancy is happy to do business with you (arbeit is German for work; it has
been borrowed into Japanese to take on the connotation of a part-time job,
usually referring to those jobs that teenagers take before moving on to bigger
and better things such as college). For the most part, the townspeople wish
only that you defeat Karube and bring light again to this land.
Upon the bridge Karube shows himself and welcomes you to his castle. First,
however, he wishes to demonstrate his power... by destroying a home and the Hope
tool shop along with Arbeit Nancy. He asks you if you now know his power, and
then states that the game has begun. Sam, he tells you, is on the top floor of
his castle. If you can inflict but one injury on his body he will return Sam to
you.
Karube's castle is filled with various priceless books and works of art as
well as women who state that America needs a strong leader, and Karube is
definitely it. Finally, at the top, the party finds Sam, who is split into two
personalities; one begs for Rizing's help, the other desires Rizing's death.
When Rizing wonders what happened, Sam answers that something was born out of
him. Karube then appears, intent on finishing this game; you must then fight a
hopeless battle against him. Nothing you can do at this point will have any
effect on him. Since you have lost, Karube destroys yet another part of
Detroit.
Rizing is awakened in an Indian inn by Youno, who explains that he is in the
town of Indianapolis. Ace awakens angry that they were unable to defeat Karube.
Youno then explains that Karube's strength is impossible without the three
treasures. First, however, Rizing and his friends must rest from their ordeal
and heal their injuries (Dr. Youno's orders). Out of earshot she wishes Rizing
to get well quickly before leaving with the key.
Once outside the hotel, a young boy informs Youno that the village chief is
calling her. In the chief's tent, when the chief calls her a woman, Youno
insists that she is not a woman, but a warrior. The chief can see that Youno
has become a warrior and instructs her to cross the Rainbow Path and retrieve
the Jewel of the God-Beast as a final test. Youno agrees and heads for the cave
past which the path is located.
Inside the cave Youno is strictly forbidden to turn back. It is therefore
imperative that you do not turn around or face the direction you came for any
reason; if you do, you will be called a fool and sent back outside the cave. At
one point Youno will hear Rizing's voice calling for her help, saying he is
right behind her, but Youno must press onward. Youno finally approaches a
chasm, which she prepares to leap, but hesitates. A voice then tells her to
fear not, for the Rainbow Path will appear. Finally, as Youno is about to take
the jewel, yet another voice tells her that before she can take it she must
defeat herself - or rather, a 3-D-rendered watery likeness of herself called the
Force (フォース). After Youno is victorious, she receives the Jewel of the God-
Beast and is teleported outside where the shrine is closed off forever, it would
seem.
Back in the hotel Ace is a bit perturbed; how long will she keep us shut up
in here? he asks. Just then, Youno walks in and asks Rizing specifically if he
is okay. Ace is indignant, asking if she wasn't worried about him, too. She
responds saying one has only to look at Ace to see that he is always healthy.
She then issues a suggestion to leave in the flying ship.
Once in the Bimaana, Youno explains that the three treasures required to
defeat Karube, as told to her by the chief, are the Pot of Mana (マナの壷),
Sword of Aaron (アーロンの剣), and the Lithograph of Fire (炎の石版). Since
Rizing already possesses the Pot of Mana, the party needs to find only the Sword
of Aaron and Lithograph of Fire. Youno also explains how 2000 years ago how the
Great Karube had ruled as an Absolute God over America but had been defeated by
the Indian God Yuriwaka. Ace is reminded of Adam's story but wonders who
Goshujin-sama is. Youno doesn't know. Thus the party heads off to find the
remaining two treasures.
Just then, Yumemi has another vision, this time of her brother, who is
calling for her. She then vanishes without a trace as Ace and Zengo are quick
to point out.
Meanwhile, in Sanetomo's lair, a being with a television set for a head
informs Sanetomo that he has successfully captured Yumemi. Sanetomo commends TV
Man and instructs him to leave everything to Dorakuroa afterwards. After TV Man
thanks Sanetomo for his kind words, Sanetomo gives him the important job of
disposing of the Clan of Fire. Their weak point, Sanetomo points out, is their
weakness of heart - they will kill a demon with fangs but not a child with a
knife. TV Man then leaves to fulfill his duty.
Thus with the Bimaana you can now fly to Florida.

The first stop to make in Florida is Memphis just southwest of Detroit.
Memphis is a run-down place that appears devastated by demons. One man tells
how once, long ago, there had been a young girl named Yumemi who had helped out
at the orphanage here - a girl with a pure smile - until the demons came and
destroyed the town. Another man tells how, in ancient Egyptian, Memphis means
'hospitable place,' and this town was until the demons came. Still another
tells how as a young child in New Orleans an older boy had told him a joke and
how it always made him smile to think about it now in these dark times.
Unfortunately now little remains.
Thus the next place to head to is Atlanta, Florida, where you will meet TV
Man, who proceeds to sing of the wonders of television. After he departs a news
report plays explaining that the terrorist Rizing has arrived with his friends
to destroy the Ankoku Kyoudan. In TV Man's castle you may find a dungeon in
which all the children deemed bad by TV Man reside. The consensus in Atlanta
is, in case you hadn't noticed, that TV is everything; TV Man thus decides the
information that people receive. In one house, however, there is no TV; the
residents will inquire as to whether you like TV Man and are a believer in the
Ankoku Kyoudan. If you answer no (iie - いいえ) to both questions you will
receive the following information:
おまいちぞくなのはせ →↓→→→→↓→↓。
がえのかbンらめしお ↓←↑↓←←←↑↓↑
もしひらさんばんらを →→↑→→→→↑→↑
If you follow the path dictated by the arrows through the hiragana you will form
the following sentence:
おまえが もしひのいちぞくなら みbゥら さんばんめのはしらを おせ
Omae ga moshi hi no ichizoku nara migi kara sanban-me no hashira wo ose.
which roughly translates to "If you are of the Clan of Fire, push the third
pillar from the right." Thus if you push the pillar just to the left of the
clock, a secret set of stairs will be revealed. Downstairs the party will find
the secret base of the Sun Cross Army (Magu did say he was headed to Florida).
Magu has heard of your feats in defeating Dr. M. The Sun Cross Army will
provide support as you attempt to free Atlanta of the authoritarian rule.
Troops speak of a Doctor Brown who knows all about television; with his help the
battle would be much more easily won. Unfortunately, they have not been able to
meet him.
Back outside a child is receiving harrassment from the other boys and girls
because he doesn't have a TV Mask. Luckily, Ace comes to his rescue. To show
his thanks, the young lad invites you to his home to watch TV with him. As his
dad is a scientist, he has the biggest TV in town. He introduces his dad and
himself as Bill Brown and Tim Brown, respectively. Once inside his house,
Doctor Brown invites you to see a sampling of his latest inventions.
Unfortunately, none of them are really useful, but the kindly doctor invites the
party to stay the night anyway. As morning arrives, Tim asks you to come watch
television with him. It's time for 'The TV Show." A beautiful, sad story is
presented today - "Gone With the Fire" starring such actors as Clock Cable and
Vivien Eee. As the story opens, Scarlett Ohhara is unable to decide between her
two insistent suitors. Suddenly, her luxurious mansion is devastated in an
instantaneous conflagration. Doctor Brown, who fears becoming an accessory to a
crime, sends Rizing and his friends outside despite young Tim's protests, since
TV Man holds the Clan of Fire responsible for the destruction of Scarlett's
home. Outside the party is accosted by the media, who are anxious to know what
grudge Rizing and the others hold agains
the fair Scarlett. Ace makes the fatal mistake of yelling at the press - and
Rizing and his party are swiftly led away by local law enforcement. Once
imprisoned, TV Man makes an appearance and chides those in jail. "The pen is
mightier than the sword!" he exclaims. "The mike is mightier than the knife!
The camera is mightier than Gamera!" TV Man leaves before showing you the next
segment of "Gone With the Fire," in which Scarlett is forced to pick cotton.
She then praises the protective darkness for arriving and the series is
finished. Fortunately, Magu shows up to free Rizing and the others. As the
rest of the town is busy with the Ankoku Taisou (physical exercises, that is),
the party is free to escape, led by Magu. The party thanks Magu, and he asks
you to come to Ajito - the secret base in the northeastern part of town - so
that they may discuss their strategy. Magu thus departs, leaving you with a
town filled with a plethora of possessed townspeople performing physical
exercises as instructed by some French gymnast. I tell ya, it doesn't get much
weirder than this...
Anyway, back in the secret Sun Cross Army hideout, Magu asks for your
assistance in making an assault on the Atlanta power plant tomorrow. Once it is
out of commission, Rizing will be free to take care of TV Man.
Back outside the party finds a repeat of yesterday's incident, only this time
Tim is harrassed for not having a trendy Ankoku Hat. Once again, Ace comes to
the rescue, but because Tim's father forbids him to speak to the Clan of Fire,
Tim writes his thanks on the ground in chalk. Unfortunately, Rizing will not be
allowed to stay at the Atlanta hotel; fortunately, the Alamo is back in
commission, and the party can stay there.
The next morning, in the Alamo's control room, Magu makes the order to blow
up the power plant for General Custer and all those who have died. Once inside
the power plant the Red Cross Army fights the defending army while Rizing is
left to plant the explosives. After a battle with the dark commander, the
control center for the power plant is destroyed, but Magu is wounded. Magu
tells how he was always a coward, but Rizing gave him courage. "Remember
Alamo," he begs of Rizing before passing away.
--- A moment of silence for Magu ---
But the battle is not yet over. While all the TVs in Atlanta are out, TV Man
still remains. The puzzle is determining which of the many floors he is on.
Odd numbered floors from the 5th up can only be reached via the elevator which,
since the power is out, must remain balanced with the elevator on the other side
of the building. Each 100-kg mass added will cause the elevator to drop one
floor; however, the elevator will go no lower than the 4th floor. In addition,
you cannot reach the other side of the building on any of the odd-numbered
floors except the 7th. It's actually much less difficult than it may sound.
After TV Man is found and defeated, the Lithograph of Fire is found, TV Man's
castle disappears, and peace returns to Florida at last. The people apologize
repeatedly for their harsh judgment (or judgement - it can be spelled either
way) of you based solely on propaganda. That leaves only one sacred treasure -
the Sword of Aaron. Just as the party is about to leave Atlanta, two troops
from the Sun Cross Army show up, begging you to wait, announcing that they have
something to give you - the key of "memories of 6 years ago," as Magu had called
it. They then suggest you go to New Orleans but be careful as it is dominated
by Dorakuroa, the master of illusion.

Yumemi calls for her brother. He answers, and tells her to come, tells her
that they are chosen; suddenly, Sam's voice is replaced by Sanetomo's, who
introduces himself, and places the mark of 666 upon Yumemi. Sanetomo is then
heard telling Dorakuroa to take care of business as Yumemi makes her way through
the forest in the rain.
In New Orleans, as he approaches the ruins, Rizing has a vision - a memory of
six years ago - of that fateful night when Sam opened the book and set loose the
demons of hell through the Fire of Eden. The protectors of the shrine wonder
what will become of America before escaping with Magu, Dave, and Yumemi as the
once sacred fire sends death and destruction to the town of New Orleans. Red
Bear fights off the horde as Sanetomo introduces himself to the young Rizing
before scarring his face permanently. The seal of darkness has been broken, the
voice of Sanetomo announces, and in six years the era of darkness will begin.
Red Bear calls out to Sam and Rizing before uttering the fourth and final iron
rule of the Hunter - never give up until you die.
In the old shrine of the Fire of Eden Rizing finds a treasure chest
unlockable only by Magu's key of memories. Inside Rizing finds those memories
of six years ago in the form of photographs and a drawing of Yumemi's.
Underneath it is a letter from Magu:
Rizing! How are you? I and Yumemi and Dave are all well. When all those
demons came forth, we were saved by a person named Seiya. We looked for you and
Sam but couldn't find you... however, you'll undoubtedly come back here, right?
Because you pinky swore with Yumemi, right? I saw you! Heh heh!
Anyway, Rizing, today I go to Texas. A man named General Custer said he
would be my new father. Yumemi said she left for the orphanage at Memphis, so
everybody's separating, but... someday we'll all meet and play together again!
It's a promise!
P.S There's a present from everybody in the treasure chest! Since it's so
important, it's locked with a key. If we meet again I'll give it to you!
From Magu
As Rizing heads into the old village he had lived and played in six years
ago, a storm breaks out, and Ace advises that they find some shelter. He then
leads the party back to the old Wanpaku House where they plan to take refuge
until the inclement weather subsides. Youno then notices a shadow out the
window; Yumemi then enters the door soaked. She can utter only one word -
brother - and Zengo wisely suggests they find a bed for her to rest in. During
the night Rizing stays with Yumemi. As she does, Youno enters and asks about
Yumemi's condition, and Rizing responds that she's still having nightmares (you
know there's a verb in Japanese which means "to have nightmares?"). Youno
suggests that Rizing get some rest as well. When Rizing does not respond, Youno
leaves. Rizing asks what he should do, and a voice responds that he must touch
Yumemi's heart before Rizing falls asleep.
Rizing awakens in a land of memories - Yumemi's memories - and a familiar
figure appears. To save Yumemi, Seiya tells him, they must find and defeat
whoever is controlling Yumemi's soul. In the center of Yumemi's memories Rizing
and Seiya find Dorakuroa, the master of illusion. Rizing orders her to return
Yumemi to normal. Dorakuroa insists however that she will not allow anyone to
lay a finger on her work. Unfortunately, after the battle Dorakuroa escapes.
However, Seiya assures him that Yumemi will be restored to normal before
excusing herself to chase after the master of illusion.
Yumemi awakens, saying that it was Rizing's voice that brought her back from
the darkness. Youno advises that she rest a little more as Yumemi's body is
still somewhat weak. The others agree that they too need a little more rest.
The next morning Ace tells Rizing there's nothing to worry about since the
weather's fine today - and Yumemi asks him, blushing, what that is supposed to
mean. Ace then asks Rizing where to look for Dorakuroa, and Rizing informs him
that he's already met her in Yumemi's heart, explaining what happened last
night. They don't know what to do next, unfortunately.
As Rizing heads for the door, a lanky - yet somehow oddly familiar - figure
enters, asking what these people are doing in his place of memories - memories
of beloved days playing with many friends when there was peace in America.
Suddenly, he recognizes Rizing and Yumemi, neither of whom recognize him until
he introduces himself as their friend Dave of so long ago. But the Dave Yumemi
remembers was a bit more debu, as Dave fills in for her. He explains that he's
been on a diet of medicine. Dave assures Yumemi he's fine, the others introduce
themselves, and Dave invites all for a cup of tea.
Over tea Dave wonders at the fact that Rizing is fighting for peace. He then
offers some of the aforementioned medicine to everyone, but only Zengo accepts
in the hopes that he'll lose a few kilos of gut. Zengo takes a swig and is
promptly transported into his own subconscious. Upon awakening, a voice calls
out to him, and Dave, who says it must be the voice of Zengo's father, leads
Zengo to the mansion which was thought to be destroyed in the fire six years
ago. Inside languid insane people - Zengo and Dave included - lounge about on
the floor. The cloaked figure behind the counter offers Rizing a drink that
will allow him to see Dorakuroa; when he refuses, the figure opens the bottle,
releasing a vile substance that sends Rizing into his own subconscious, where he
meets Seiya yet again. Seiya informs him that Dorakuroa is here (the shady guy
behind the counter was telling the truth after all), but when Rizing asks who
she really is, she tells him that now is not the time.
Once in the center of Rizing's subconscious dungeon, he and Seiya meet
Dorakuroa again. She finds it a pity that Rizing does not like the world she
has created for him or recognize the greatness of that which she is proud of.
This time, however, Dorakuroa cannot escape, and the Sword of Aaron is
retrieved.
As Rizing tells the others of Dorakuroa's defeat, Zengo arrives, announcing
that he's not worthy of fighting alongside you after what has become of his soul
when he drank that medicine. He leaves on a journey alone; nothing Rizing can
say will stop him. At that point Seiya appears, whom Rizing introduces as his
second teacher. Seiya assures them that Zengo will return and lends Rizing her
strength. After the mansion disappears without a trace, Youno reminds Rizing
that they can now defeat Karube since they have recovered the three items.
Yumemi says she will fight as well, but Seiya and Ace insist she stay behind at
the Wanpaku House, rest, and keep Dave company. She agrees and wishes the
others luck.

"If you strain your ears you can hear it... the city crowds... the sound of the
klaxon in a killing mood... the siren of the patrol cars... the crying of young
children... the sound of gunshots... even that noise seems dear now..."
New York... once awash with an ocean of people and sound, now a desolate
wasteland with a few sparse refuges of those lucky - or unlucky - enough to have
survived the destruction. Mighty skyscrapers are now reduced to nothing but
scrap, a mountain of gomi, or trash, a wasteland of relics of a time when the
city was great... Yet hope still exists as people donate what precious gifts
they have to further Rizing's cause. And Norma Jean, an optimistic young talent
with glimmering aspirations, says she's trying hard to make it on Broadway.
When Ace reminds her that it's been destroyed, she admits that she's foolish,
but she still believes someday her day will come - someday this Broadway will
once again shine with neon. Even if the dance has no significance, there is
still value in continuing the dance - or so her dead uncle used to tell her.
Up the hill red rain breaks out, and Youno utters the word "flood," but
quickly shrugs it off when the others ask her to repeat it. As the party makes
its way through the mountain of skyscrapers, a shadowy kuroko-like figure
follows their steps. Eventually Ace tells him to show himself, and the dark
figure introduces himself as "The Ayashii Kage" (怪しい影 - suspicious shadow).
Ace has to agree that he certainly is suspicious, but he allows him to come
along as long as he doesn't get in their way. Once in the dungeon by the statue
of liberty you might need a few Remove Curse items since the Ankoku Head Priests
can curse your magic spells, rendering them unusable.
Finally, the party reaches the innermost sanctum where Rizing confronts
Sanetomo at last.
Sanetomo:
"I have waited for you, Rizing-san."
Ace:
"I've got something to ask you! What do you plan to do to this America?
"Why is this island floating all of a sudden? What the hell is the meaning of
this red rain?"
Sanetomo:
"Allow me to offer an explanation... Humans bear the burden of a crime.
Eating the forbidden apple was a crime resulting in banishment from the
pleasure garden, but...
"This rain will not cease! Until the humans' crimes... and all of the high
civilization become inundated...
"This rain will not cease! And we will become a new Noah..."
Ace:
"You're planning to cause... a flood?"
Sanetomo:
"That is the only way to wash away the humans' crimes."
Youno:
"It is in Indian legend as well... this world will be destroyed many times over
by flood..."
Rizing:
"Even if god exists and what you are saying is true, why would god place the
apple tree in the pleasure garden?
"Why would an omniscient, omnipotent god create such an evil thing?
"The apple is the key to opening the door to one's potential! That is what I
believe!
"And the ordeal of banishment from the pleasure garden is the road humans must
take to overcome this!
"Is feeding empty thoughts in a garden of god supposed to bring humans
happiness? Is a destroying touch in god's anger supposed to be humankind's
fate?
"Instead of believing in a god that I've never seen, I believe in Yumemi - I
believe in Youno - I believe in Zengo - and I believe in Ace!!
Sanetomo:
"A god that you've never seen... I see... Allow me to show you!
"But in order to do that it is necessary to gain a little more time.
"Until that time comes I stand unprotected...
"Act 1 - Beast God Descension!"
"Come! Beast God Rogosu!"
"Act 2 - Decisive Battle!"
{ Battle against Rogosu }
Sanetomo:
"The subject of Act 3 shall be chosen by you! Now then, which do you prefer?
"One - 'Endless Summoning'
Two - 'Four Lives'
Three - 'The Flesh of Steel'"
{ prompt }
"Act 3 - (one of the above)! Come now! Let us go!"
{ Battle against Sanetomo }
Sanetomo:
"I see that you of the Fire have defeated me. This is well.
"I have waited for this moment. Collecting the flesh in Arizona... collecting
the blood in Mexico...
"And finally, through the sacrifice of my life, the Absolute God will be born!"
"Act 4 - Birth of the Absolute God!"
Ace:
"Hey! It's time to come out now, Ayashii Kage san!
Zengo:
"Since when did you know I was here?"
Ace:
"From the beginning, baka!"
Youno:
"Zengo! I believed in you!"
Zengo:
"I must no longer run away from every situation. This Zengo has bound his
stomach!
"When death comes I will not turn away! This is the aesthetics of the samurai!"
Voice:
"Yu...me...mi..."
"Yume...mi... Yumemi... Yumemi!!"
Yumemi:
"Big... brother..."
Rizing:
"Hey Yumemi! Yumemi!"
Rizing:
"This... is the Absolute God?"
Absolute God:
"I am the Savior!" (We are...?)
Ace:
"Hey! What happened? What about Yumemi?"
Absolute God:
"I am the Savior!"
Rizing:
".........Yumemi..."
Absolute God:
"I am the Savior!"
{ Battle with the Absolute God }
---
Ace:
"Finally, we did it! We saved this America!"
Youno:
"No. It was with everyone's strength. All living things on this earth -
humans, beasts, the Clan of Fire - the life of all things has saved this world."
Zengo:
"It is so. The various lives together made victory possible."
Rizing:
"Yes. We have overcome the battle. And someday a new world will come!"
Yumemi:
"Yes!"

- In a far off time, long ago, there was a pleasure garden in heaven called
Eden. In that place there was a family which protected the pleasure garden.
- At this time darkness covered the earth. There a race called Chaos lived.
- Without an eye or a nose or a mouth, the pitied clan with the form of Chaos
stole the Fire of Eden from out of the pleasure garden and used it upon the
earth. The Fire of Eden shined through that darkness with its dazzling light.
Because of this the Chaos, whose hearts had been opened, became at last humans.
- However, the fire once again defended the evil power of destruction. Because
of this the Chaos, whose hearts had warped, at last became a race of evil.
- The clan that had stolen the Fire of Eden were banished by the gates from the
pleasure garden and later came to be called the Clan of Fire.
