1.0 Introduction
[ITRO]
===========================================================================
===

Hello traveller. I 100%’d this game in a few days and found no other guide
detailing how to find all the picture frames. After bumbling around Sulphur
Rocks for an hour searching for just 4 frames, I decided to write a
perfectly detailed guide for the people of the internet. This is also the
first guide I’ve ever written for a game, so enjoy. This is written on a
repeat playthrough and will have a good flow. I’m not going to focus on any
other collectible, as a great guide has been written in 2007 by
SilverPhoenix here on GameFAQs that describes where to find them.

There are 175 picture frames in the game. Each picture frame unlocks one
piece of concept art that can be viewed from the main menu. They can be
found inside invisible boxes, inside visible boxes, out in the open, on
obscure platforms or you need a special rang to access them. There are many
invisible boxes in the game that do not contain picture frames, so if you
find a box that’s not in this guide, it won’t have a frame. If you break
open an invisible box that contains frames, they will magnet to you no
matter the distance. Only frames that are sitting on the open ground
require you to physically pick them up.

You can never truly miss out on obtaining a picture frame, they’re always
freely available if you have the right gear :)

==============================================================================
1.1 Rangs
[RNGS]
==============================================================================

To find all the picture frames, the first rang you’ll want to buy is the
Infrarang from Burramudgee for Ø5000. Holding down LT/L2 to enter view
mode, invisible boxes become easily visible and will ping a loud noise if
you’re standing nearby. You don’t need to be looking AT a box to hear a
ping, just looking through first person nearby. I recommend upgrading this
rang to the X-rang as soon as Sly’s shop opens (after oil rig
misson/nanobot fight). The X-rang makes everything invisible without having
to stop and look, and pings loud noises at you without having to stop and
look.

To access all the picture frames you’ll only need the Lasharang, Smasharang
and Warperang. The total cost of the base rangs (Infra, Lasha, Smasha) is
Ø13,000. The total cost of the upgrades (X-rang, Warper, Kabooma) is
Ø32,000. The elemental rangs (Fire, Ice, Lightning) aren’t needed for
picture frames, but you do need them for the other collectibles. The
Omegarang (or better Deadlyrang) is advisable once you start encountering
Uber Frills (Sulphur Rocks, The Never Never).

Scroll to the bottom of the guide to find a greasy opal farming trick. Get
rich in minutes.

==============================================================================
1.2 The World
[WRLD]
==============================================================================

The levels in which the 175 picture frames of the game are in are listed
below. Frames are only found in traditional platforming/run around levels.
There are no picture frames hidden in vehicle only missions
(helicopter/submarine), none in boss fight missions, none in cart races nor
are there any in the open driving hub of Southern Rivers. Only once you go
through an airlock to a proper level will you find picture frames. They
aren’t hidden in super extreme secret places, they’re often hidden in plain
sight or on the path to another collectible.

Burramudgee Town/Rescue HQ             (67)
Outback Oasis                          (13)
Frill Neck Forest                      (15)
Mount Boom                             (1)
Faire Dinkum                           (14)
The Wetlands                           (13)
Sulphur Rocks                          (22)
The Never Never                        (30)

An official map of the Southern Rivers driving hub (with secrets!) can be
found on the link below. It’s VERY helpful for revisiting zones once you’ve
bought new rangs or bunyips as the game does not have a detailed world map.

2.0 - Picture Frame Locations
[PFLC]
===========================================================================
===
==============================================================================
For each level I’ll start off with a little blurb describing general tips
for the level. From now on I’ll mostly refer to picture frames as just
‘frames’. If a special rang is needed to access a particular frame, it will
be written in brackets. For the best result, follow my instructions from
the start. I’ve based most of my descriptions on landmarks rather than turn
left then turn right then this way then back around and slightly up way
yada yada… Happy hunting!

==============================================================================
2.1 Burramudgee Town
[BRTR]
==============================================================================

The in-game zone of Burramudgee includes Bush Rescue HQ, the town itself,
the haunted manor and the sewers. There is a total of 67 picture frames in
this collective zone. There are 43 frames in the Bush Rescue HQ area and 24
frames in the sewer. The town itself and the manor have NO frames to worry
about. There are several invisible boxes in town, but they only contain
opals so don’t stress when you see one.

==============================================================================
2.1.1 Bush Rescue HQ
[BRHQ]
==============================================================================
Required rangs = LASH, SMASH, WARP

#1-3 – From the door of Bush Rescue (standing next to Julius), hold LT/L2
and look up to find three invisible platforms, throw the Infrarang at them
to materialise them. From the sheet metal roof of HQ, jump up the platforms
to grab 3 frames and a platinum cog.

#4-7 – Climb up the ladder up the wooden flight control tower in front of
you, walk around the back and climb another smaller ladder. On the roof are
4 frames and a lost bilby.

#8-12 – (SMASH) Head inside the HQ building through the door on the right
at ground level. Use a smashing/exploding rang to break open the steel
crate that contains 5 frames.

#13-17 – (SMASH) Turn across the room and climb up the netting then smash
the steel box at the top for another 5 frames.

#18-20 - (LASH+SMASH) Use the Lasharang hook at the back of the room and
swing to the long side platform. Among the 5 steel crates here are 3
frames.

#21-35 – Make your way up to the sheet metal roof of the same building and
head into the cylinder-shaped building on top. In here you’ll find 15
frames hidden in three wooden boxes.

#35-40 – (SMASH) From this cylinder hut, walk out to the balcony and climb
the netting to your right. From this level, make a curvy ninja jump out and
around on to the roof. Smash the steel crate here for 5 frames.

#41-43 – (WARP+SMASH) Walk up the hill behind HQ to the warp crystal behind
a wall. Equip the Warperang and throw it at the crystal. Smash the steel
crates to find 3 frames amongst many opals. Bush Rescue HQ is now clear!

==============================================================================
2.1.2 Burramudgee Sewer
[BRSR]
==============================================================================
Required rangs = None, but X-rang is the best

In the sewer there are 24 invisible boxes, each containing 1 picture frame.
I’ve drawn a crude map by hand with the invis boxes marked and uploaded it
to the imgur link below. If that doesn’t work for you, follow these
instructions step by step. The layout of the sewers is a basic, colour
neutral loop with three coloured areas branching off. The red area branches
off to the North-East, the green area branches off to the West and the
purple area branches off to the South-West. The red and green areas branch
from the same point near a big grate in the North-West ‘corner’ of the
basic loop. The coloured zones do not directly connect to one another.

The boxes in here are can be seen without the Infrarang/X-rang as they play
with the numerous lamps in the sewer, but the X-rang is supreme. All boxes
described in this section are invisible boxes.

============MAP LINK=============
https://imgur.com/gallery/KnteT7F
=================================

#1 – Walk into the sewer and take the first right. An invis box is above
the bridge.

#2 – Take five steps further down this S-bend to find another.

#3-5 – Keep going and you open up to a kind of rectangular area with two
cement islands. There are 3 invis boxes hidden in the gaps. One is offset
from the other two (SW corner).

#6-8 – Head along and turn left to come to a long section of corridor,
there are 3 invis boxes in a line here.

#9 – Run further until you come across a yellow arrow pointing to the left,
turn right and a box is right there.

#10 – Now you’re at the big grate head straight through to enter the red
area of the sewer and turn right around the corner. An invis box is above
your head.

#11 – Take five steps and look to your right, another invis box is near
some steel crates.

#12 – Curve around two left turns to find a croc, some steel crates and an
invis box in an East pointing dead end.

#13+14 – Head back to the grate and look West to find two invis boxes
leading you to the green area.

#15-18 – Turn left into the green and follow the path until you come to a
small island of cement. There are 4 invis boxes at each of the corners of
this little island.

#19 – Head North for five steps to see another invis box at the mouth of a
dead end.

#20 – Head back to the grate and follow the arrows (run South), running
past the arrow we saw earlier. An invis box is straight ahead.

#21 – Follow an S-bend and then enter the purple area on your right. An
invis box is in the pathway to the purple area.

#22+23 – Surrounding the little cement island are two invis boxes (NE + SE
corner). A Lost Steve is also in the North-Western-most part of the purple
area.

#24 – Leave the purple area and turn right, the final invis box can be
found just there before the S-bend. Turn left and head straight back to the
outside world!

==============================================================================
2.2 Outback Oasis
[OBOS]
==============================================================================
Required rangs = WARP

There are 13 frames in this level. Ten are in a large cavern for which
you’ll need the Infrarang. The Warperang is needed to collect the other 3.

Getting to the cavern – Enter the level and turn left and continue through
about 4 saws until you get to a large open area with some lakes. Head
straight across the land bridge and veer left. Fight your way up several
steps to get to a lizard blockade. Throw a rang at the yellow switch to
open the gate and take a hard right, heading into the cave.

Once you’re in the cavern you’ll notice the ground level is divided into
three segments. For some reason you need to be IN the segment of the cave
the boxes are in for your Infrarang to break the box. There are 7 boxes in
here that contain a total of 10 frames. You’ll also notice there are some
big mean goons on the floor, the Lasharang can ‘stun’ these bad guys to buy
you some time, otherwise ignore them and move on. If you miss a jump, take
care to control gliding, once you fall for a too long you lose control, hit
the deck and will lose health. It’s easy to die in here.

#1-6 – There are two frames in each of the three boxes in the close segment
of the cave. Using the Infrarang, you can throw from the platforms you
first jump to.

#7-8 – The two boxes in the right-hand segment of the cave yield one frame
each.

#9-10 – The two boxes in the far segment of the cave yield one frame each.

#11-13 - (WARP) From the start of the level turn left. Walk past the first
saw-gate and take about ten steps then look to your right. The warp crystal
is hidden behind a fence, between a rocky gap. Zip through and fight some
Frills and collect the final 3 frames.

==============================================================================
2.3 - Frill Neck Forest
[FNFR]
==============================================================================
Required rangs = LASH

This level has 15 frames in total. This level may seem hard to follow but
as long as you continue along the path the trail of opals presents, you’ll
be fine. There are no invisible boxes or platforms in this level. The
‘ground floor’ of this level is divided into 5 tiers, getting higher as you
progress. Treat the roped enemies in here with care, they’re hard to track
visually and shoot projectiles have a similar pattern to the net
underneath.

#1-5 – These five are located on the climbable vines when you first enter
the level. Hold LT/L2 and look up, there are several down low and to the
left, some to the right and one directly left of the final platform. This
last one is hard to see from the ground.

#6 – After you get to the first checkpoint (outhouse) and the two X-marked
ladders drop down, jump across the broken bridge to a platform with a small
tree and an arrow pointing left. Grind along the rope coming out the back
of this tree up to the platform in the distance. One frame is on the other
side.

#7 – Continue up the slope and around a corner to where the bridge turns
into three wavy segments. Take a few steps back and you’ll see this frame
close to the path, sitting atop a small tree stump. Simply jump near the
frame to get it.

#8 – (LASH) From where you jumped to #7, look for a Lasharang hook to the
North-West. Swing across to the single platform to grab the 8th frame of the
level. You should see the grind-rail cog from here.

#9 – Continue along the wavy bridge and make a big jump to the next section
of the level. Walk past the X marked ladder until you get to the first
swinging spiky pendulum. Take the straight path and climb up the vine
ladder on the other side of the tree. A single frame is up the top.

#10 – Continue along the opal path to the next checkpoint and ladder drop
down. You should see a frame off to the left, this is #11. Jump across a
suspended platform then to a round platform and climb the ladder on the
other side. #9 is at the top.

#11 – From #10, jump and glide straight ahead to the red Ø500 bag. Jump
outwards from the platform, turn around mid-air and THEN start gliding and
control your glide back in to the platform underneath.

#12 – Continue through a little S-bend section and you’ll see the frame
straight ahead. From the round platform, make a tight jump to the closest
corner of the platform.

#13 – Continue down and along until you reach two Koala workers (one is a
spy!). Keep going and as you walk up a slope and around the frame is
sitting in a pylon between the tracks, next to where two goons want to
fight you.

#14 – Go ahead and jump down and you’ll find two platforms rising above the
track to the left. From the top of these, make several big jumps toward the
Kromium orb, like #11, jump out and back to the platform below to collect
the frame.

#15 – Drop down to the netting below (north east direction) to collect the
final frame of the level.

==============================================================================
2.4 - Mount Boom
[MTBM]
==============================================================================
Advised rang if playing hardcore = LASH

There is only one frame in this level and you don’t need any to hit any
obscure switches or use any special rangs. You of course need the Ø5000
Thermo Bunyip key from Trader Bob back in town to complete the level.

#1 – Once you surface in the final area of the level, look to your left to
see the frame on a small rocky platform. Take note of the red ‘catapult’
flower tucked into the cliff beneath the koala workers. Go and greet the
team of researchers, then jump out from the pile of sand and glide sharply
to the right, aiming for the platform on the side of the cliff. Hop inside
red the flower to get launched to a platform with a cosy Ø200 bag, then
jump down to the rocky platform to get the frame. Lasharang back to safety
or die and get teleported!

==============================================================================
2.5 - The Wetlands
[WTLS]
==============================================================================
Required rangs = WARP

In this level there is a path straight ahead which continues along to the
end and a small swamp to the left filled with a few secrets. The first 5
frames are in this left side swamp.

#1 – As soon as you walk in, there is an invisible box straight ahead above
where path splits to the right.

#2 – Turn about 45 degrees (looking NW) to find the next invisible box in
an open watery area of the swamp (around the corner is a cliff with a
wooden platform)

#3 – Turn left another 45 degrees to see the path continue in to the swamp
area, an invis box is above some enemies.

#4 – Go around the corner and stop when you can see the cog on the mid-air
platform. Look above you to find another invis box.

#5 – Take the path to your left up the steps. An invisible box is at the
top concealed in the trees. You’re now done with this small swamp area.

#6 – Turn back on to the main path and you’ll see a big mob of enemies.
Throw a rang at an explosive crate to defeat them all. An invis box will
likely explode in the process. Otherwise look up above the tree stumps to
confirm it’s been cleared.

#7-11 – (WARP) Continue heading north until you turn right and into a
swamp. The Warp crystal is plainly visible straight ahead. Zip through and
climb up the vines to find 5 frames. At the tippy top there is a Ø3000 opal
bag for your troubles! Look from the ground if you’re having trouble
locating them.

#12-13 – Continue to the croc farm mission at the end of the level. There
are two single invisible boxes here containing 1 frame each. You’re done
with the wetlands!

==============================================================================
2.6 - Faire Dinkum
[FRDK]
==============================================================================
Required rangs = SMASH

There are 14 frames in this level, most of which are out in the open.
Invisible boxes are only found in ‘town’, near the houses and on the tier
overlooking the houses. Don’t worry about searching for them in the swamp.

#1 – As you run in you can see it clearly on the roof of a building. Nail a
big jump and you’ll get it.

#2-3 Jump to the house to the right and slide down the back side of the
roof to find a frame hidden next to the cliff. The house just to your left
has a frame in a similar spot.

#4-5 – In the air between the central houses. Stand on the crest of either
roof, then jump across to fetch the frames.

#6 – In an invisible box before the gateway to the swamp.

#7 – In an invisible box to the right of where to where you talked to Ty’s
sister.

#8 – Climb up the tree to the left of Ty’s sister for a single frame.

#9+10 – (SMASH) After you walk past the koala workers and spinning fire
things you’ll turn right, leave the water and run up a hill (Look for a
loop on the minimap). Look to your left for the smashable wall. Behind it
is a platinum cog and 2 frames.

#11-13 – At the top of the level when you’re overlooking the houses again,
look up to find 3 invisible boxes each with one frame.

#14 – Behind the animatronic dinosaur in this same area with the hovering
platforms, sitting on the ground. You’re done with the faire!

==============================================================================
2.7 - Sulphur Rocks
[SPHR]
==============================================================================
Required rangs = LASH

This level feels enormous and confusing and there are loads of paths
leading to loads of collectibles. All of the picture frames are in open
areas (not hidden in places like the temples or lava traverses. I would
highly advise buying the Omegarang from Sly’s shop before you enter this
level as you can walk around safely and freely having defeated the Uber
Frills. You need several types of rang and the lifter bunyip to gather all
the collectibles in this level.

#1-2 – After fighting loads of Frills with the bunyip, jump up the wooden
platforms to reach the top of the cliff, continue along until you get to an
open area and walk halfway along the wooden bridge. Look low and to the
right to find one invisible box with 2 frames in it.

#3-6 – Walk along the wooden bridge and look above the blue freight
container. Two invisible boxes containing 2 frames each can be found there.

#7-9 – Climb the yellow netting to the left of the blue container to find 3
frames lying on the ground. A platinum cog is just ahead.

#10-13 – Standing on top of the yellow freight container, look with the
Infrarang to find four invisible boxes curving off to the left, each with 1
frame in them.

#14-17 – Continue along for several minutes fighting several Uber Frills
until you get to a curved lake. Fight (or swim past) the Uber Frills near
the bridge then continue straight ahead and talk to Princess Orchid. Turn
around and look for two invisible boxes each with 2 frames in them.

#18-20 – (LASH) – Ten steps down the hill from Princess Orchid, jump up and
throw for the Lasharang hook in the tree. Hold Y/Triangle and push the Left
Stick up to retract the rope and swing over the fence. Sitting on the
ground are 3 frames and a koala spy!

#21 – Head back to the curved lake and walk across the wooden bridge to the
South. Once in this area, drop down to the right into the dark orange
canyon to find a single frame on the ground.

#22 – Turn left and run along this canyon to where the koala spy is
standing next to a pile of sand. Look to your left to find a single frame
hovering high in a small rocky nook. Jump up and grab it. You’re now done
with Sulphur Rocks!

==============================================================================
2.8 – The Never Never
[NVNV]
==============================================================================
Required rangs = LASH, SMASH

This level is by far the largest in the game and can feel quite daunting,
but don’t worry, the first ‘half’ of the level is linear and the second
half you have to pass through an airlock to get to. The first half ends
with helping some aliens, the second half you escort Dennis get past the
dinosaurs. The first path you need to take is off to the left of where you
first walk in. Several invisible boxes in the level only contain opals, so
if they’re not mentioned in the guide below, they won’t contain picture
frames.

#1-5 – Right when you walk through the airlock, three invisible boxes are
right there. One of them will contain 5 frames.

#6 – After walking through the saw-gate, run around the lake and up the
small hill to where you fight some frills. Once in an open area, you’ll see
a single frame on the stone pedestal bridging the gap to a platform with
three steel crates.

#7 – Jump back down to the lake and you’ll see some small wooden platforms
stuck on the trees. Jump back and forth up four platforms to find a single
frame at the top.

#8 - (LASH) From #7, turn around (north) to find a Lasharang hook bridging
the gap to an obvious frame.

#9-13 – After crossing the rock bridge in a big open area (next to singing
bird mini-game) you’ll see a lava traverse to your right. Turn to your left
(north) and jump up to an area with several Primal Frills. Look up to find
three invisible boxes, one of which contains 5 frames.

#14 – Use either the Thermo Bunyip or the Lasharang to traverse to the far
side of the lava chasm. In the back-left corner is a single frame.

#15-16 – Continue on to the lake with several teetering platforms. This is
the end of the first ‘half’ of the level. Swim under the water’s surface to
find 2 frames. Behind the waterfall are two Ø500 bags and a switch (doesn’t
give a collectible).

#17 – Swim back but veer to the right (NE corner) to a new piece of land.
Jump up a few steps to find a single frame hidden in a bush at the very
back.

#18 – Tucked in at the entrance to the lake is another frame that’s easy to
miss (west corner).

Walk through the airlock next to the alien lady to get to the second ‘half’
of the level, featuring the Dennis escort mission.

#19-23 - Run past all the dinosaurs and up the hill to get to a narrow
ridge where an outhouse spawns. Look out to the small lake to your right to
find two invisible boxes, one of these contains 5 frames.

#24 – (SMASH) Walk down the hill for about 10 steps and look to the left
for a smashable wall next to a climbing wall. Hidden behind the wall is a
single frame. The next smashable wall features a platinum cog.

#25 – Wrap around the corner and walk under the bridge. From the steel
crates, use the swinging hooks to grab a Kromium orb and frame #25.

#26-29 – From here, look to your right to find some koala workers (one is a
spy). Climb up the vines just to their right to a ledge with 4 frames.

#30 – Head back up the hill you came from to the vine wall next to frame
#24, climb up it and jump on the grind rail. There are several collectibles
off the side of this little highway, frame #30 is on the 3rd ledge to the
left. It’s easy to jump to and from the ledges and the rail. You have now
collected all 175 frames!

==============================================================================
3.0 - Other tips and tricks
[TPTX]
==============================================================================

Here are some random tips that will improve your quality of life when playing
through the game. These are totally separate from collecting all the picture
frames.

==============================================================================
3.1 – Opal Farming Exploit
[OPFX]
==============================================================================

Drive to the beach in the South East corner of the map (available after the
fight with Patchy). Swim to the middle island with the large tree and large
red hut. Bounce on the beach chairs near the shore to collect two lots of
three Ø500 bags for a total of Ø3000. Now swim over to the island which
holds the race and spend the Ø100 to enter. As soon as you load in, pause,
scroll left and quit the race. Back in the real world, the bags on the
other island have respawned so swim over and fetch them again. Swim back
and start-quit another race, rinse and repeat. For each cycle of this
you’ll receive 2900 Opals. If you have the Warperang, simply latch to the
crystal directly above the platform to pick up the Ø3000 bag, doubling your
yield to Ø5900 per cycle.

Once you get a rhythm going you can repeat one cycle in about 45 seconds,
scoring about 3500 or 7600 opals per minute. Getting Ø30,000 in the early
game is a big help. Later on this exploit is almost essential for
purchasing the Doomarang and Triple HP upgrade. Put on some music or
YouTube and spam it out for 20 minutes and you’ll be stupidly rich.

==============================================================================
3.2 - Burramudgee Town Spies
[BRTS]
==============================================================================

Some other people and I on internet forums had issues finding the two spies
in town, thinking perhaps the game had bugged. I’ve solved it and listed
these below. Technically speaking there are three spies in the town. One
spawns in the initial mission where Police officer asks you to find one.
After you talk to Ken after completing croc sewer mission, two more spawn
in Burramudgee. These are the two that are listed in the in-game pause
menu, the mission spy does not count towards the grand total of 25.

#1) - Spawns during the mission. Found in the North-East corner of Lower
Burramudgee, standing at the sand pile near Dennis’ house.

#2 - At street level, on the grass just north of the police chief near the
sand piles and barrels. 4 other worker koalas are standing nearby.

#3 - Between the top of the stairs that leads to the sewers and a wooden

3.3 – Fast Travel Exploit
[FTEX]
==============================================================================

Obvious but worth mentioning. If you are anywhere outside of Burramudgee, a
neat trick you can use is to fast travel to Burramudgee town. Pause the
game, scroll left and select “Exit Level”. You will instantly teleport back
to Bush Rescue HQ. This is useful if you need to pop back to town to buy
something or don’t want to run all the way back through a level to get out.

3.4 – Evade Death in Hardcore
==============================================================================

If you can see you’re about to die (Rhino beetle in Sulphur Rocks) or can
see that things aren’t looking optimistic (final Boss Cass fight), you can
pause the game and Alt-F4/exit the level before you die. Once you die your
save is erased by the game and cannot be recovered, so if you quit the game
before you take the final shot you’ll be safe. The only penalty is you must
drive to the level again.

I died on HC Boss Cass with 100% ready to go but I got scared and panicked
when I died, forgetting this trick. I managed to remember when the Rhino
beetle chase had a reverse camera angle and I could see I was VERY close to
the beetle one-shotting me.
