I. Introduction
===========================

This is another in my long line of specialized FAQ's for games people seem to
love, only don't write a complete FAQ for. :(  I wrote one complementing the
other Sword of the Beserk Dreamcast FAQ's and here I am again writing one for
Rygar on the PS2, stepping up to the plate when no one else would, and tired of
people posting the same questions over and over again on the message
board...Hopefully this will answer those questions as well as covering ground
that the other FAQ's don't touch upon and some areas that they do as well. This
FAQ will take a slightly different approach to answering the FAQ's portion of
this guide, in the respect that I took actual posted questions from the
messageboard and I answered them (actually on all but one I did) So I thought I
would put them in a easier to use format to help out folks who need pointed in
the right direction(s) or hints/tips on what to do and where to find it as
Rygar has lots of hidden items and options to find and discover. I think you
get the idea so let's be off.

II. Version History
===========================

1.0 January, 16th, 2003-
------------------------
Started today. Hopefully all information I have will make the guide complete if
not there's always an update. :)

Started  9:33 AM EST
Finished 5:55 PM EST  (Damn I'm tired) =p

1.1 January, 17th, 2003-
------------------------
Looked over FAQ seen a few spots that I didn't correct from after "borrowing"
the layout from MY Beserk FAQ, corrected that as well as a few other items will
resubmit the new version soon. (Still Tired though) =(

Additional: (See section VIII. for details) =D
My Fued with NSCX continues I hope they get a clue now that I am not gonna
argue with them over something like their customer service. Funny part is they
actually challenged me to a "online discussion" to have there voice heard as
well, in honor of that I offer this up in response
and I quote "Arguing on the Internet is like running in the Special Olympics.
Even if you win, you're still retarded" -source unknown, but totally correct.
Also I blocked their email address, so this stupidity with them stops today. I
don't have time to waste with them.

Oh and don't buy from them....they suck. :p

1.2 January, 17th, 2003-
-------------------------
(Mid-Afternoon) I re-read it today and noticed major spelling and typographical
as well as major errors in composition, so I corrected all that I found. And
also noticed I spent alot of time on this darn thing. Have Fun. Any new updates
will not occur until the FAQ has been posted and all contributor info from the
message board is added and indexed. Later. :)

Additional: This version was never submitted but 1.1 was and was never posted
ask CJayC not me. I will wait till Feb 1st before submitting the final update
as I started a topic on the Rygar Message Board asking for additions and
advice.

1.3 February,1-3, 2003-
-----------------------
Final Update to be submitted. I Changed the layout slightly, thanks to
Swiftshark for the advice, fixed more typos :p , looked over the boss
strategies to make them more effective thanks Squid Z for the tip on the
Minotaur and the Mystic Stone tip and for the tip with Echinda, added an
alternate strategy for the second Icarus fight in Arcadia and an alternate
stratregy for Echidna  thanks to csneddon for the tip. Added an excellent tip
from Dsmooth about a secret room in Hades which I never knew about. Added some
tips from VanRaily about the Echidna fight and some boss strategies he
submitted. And to everyone that helped I      majorly appreciate it, If I
forgot to name someone please accept my apologies but if it wasn't for you guys
my FAQ wouldn't be what it is today I thankyou profusely and and very grateful.
Cheers this is for you. See you for Rygar 2. Later. :D

1.3a February, 5th, 2003-
---------------------------
Seen FAQ today, was finally posted and looked it over and almost had a coronary
after seeing my updates section in a shambles. I took out all the spacing and
hopefully corrected it so it doesn't look like a train wreck. Resubmitted once
again and for the last time. Final, Final update....hopefully :p

III.Mystic Stones
===========================

**Note on this section I borrowed heavily in form and style (without
plagiarizing, and paraphrasing in parts, except where noted and credited) from
Simalcrum's Mystic Stone FAQ on IGN it was full of errors and needed
clarification on certain stones, mine as well is not 100% accurate as the game
has many points where you can get a mystic stone but never the same one twice
in same location in certain situations. Explanations are inside....follow me.

------------------
First Row
------------------

Ares- (Attack Up)
--------------------
Raises Attack power past base strength. This stone can be gotten In the
Labrynthos section in the top left corner (you must destroy the statue to get
it), after fighting the enemies who attack you after Echidna's speech while
Rygar is hiding, It is also available in the Elysion Shrine after aquiring the
Tackle ability in Arcadia, in the Posidonia Shrine on the right side of the
hallway (hidden) fourth door in the tunnel leading to the blue flame that you
need later. And also after defeating random enemies in the 30 level dugeon,
Tartarus (Must be on Legendary difficulty) (you must kill the two invisible
Cyclops', but note this is a random find here I reloaded three times and I got
three different stones) and elsewhere. (The maximum this stone can be increased
is up to level +50)

Athena- (Defense Up)
---------------------
Raises Defense power past base defense. This stone can be gotten in the same
proximity as the Ares stone in Labrynthos but on the right side of the area
inside a silver cask behind the statue standing there. It is found in in the 30
level dugeon as well. Also found in the Elysion Shrine alternately with the
Ares stone after aquiring the Tackle ability in Arcadia. It is also found
multiple places throughout the game randomly, it is a random drop from the two
invisible cyclops' in Legendary difficulty(they each gave me one) (This stone
also has a maximum build up of +50)

A side note from Squid Z on another Athena location:

I'm not sure if someone has already mentioned it, but I believe there is
another place to get an Athena stone not mentioned in your FAQ. Right after you
beat Centaur, there is a hole you must drop down to proceed. However, instead
of falling down the hole, whack the rocky protrusion on the right of the hole
to reveal a ledge that can be used to cross the gap. On the other side is a
horse casket with an Athena stone inside. I've only tried this on hard mode,
but I have no reason to believe it changes on other modes.

**(Note - Since these can be found in very random spots there is only two
different points both can be found consistently in the game so use the above
descriptions as guides, there is a possibility that you will find one or both
in a section not listed above so please keep this in mind if you find one other
than where I specify where they are at)**

Demeter- (Damage from hitting walls, floors halved)
---------------------------------------------------
This stone is a random drop from the floating bodyless enemies (Harpuiai, the
guys with claws) on the walkway between the Lybrinth towers while crossing the
sand. It provides decent protection against Cyclops and Minotaurs but don't
rely on it.

Aphrodite- (Restoration, Heal Life by using Icol)
--------------------------------------------------
Normally it is gotten on Normal difficulty in the Shrine of the Three warriors.
After winning the Heaven Diskarmor you must climb either of the two sets of
stairs on the outskirts to reach the platform the silver cask containing this
stone is located. **(Note you must have obtained the yellow orb swinging
ability from the Labrynthos area to get this stone.) This stone is very usefull
in Hard and Legendary difficulties as some bosses have safe spots where you can
retreat to use this, also a good way to restore health when combined with other
stones.

Apollo- (Guard Interrupt)
---------------------------
Simulcrum says it is gotten from defeating the two invisible cyclops in
Tartarus on Legendary and it probably is, however it is not the only stone
received from defeating those two monsters (Note: Ares and Athena as well)  As
I have not gotten it yet I do not know it's use but Simulcrum states he has yet
to find it's use more to come when I finally can confirm this.

-----------------
Second Row
-----------------

Artemis- (Life Restored by beating enemies)
-------------------------------------------
This stone is in the silver cask you can see but can't get to before you fight
the Hekatonchieres (boss in the Colosseum area) after you aquire the Tackle
ability you come back to where Rygar originally started the game go to the
bottom right corner and down to a path and some stairs into a underground
passage, tackle the box fight the enemies and follow the path to the left to a
new opening to the silver cask break it and it's yours. Another useful stone in
Easy through Hard Difficulties, not recommended for Legendary due to the need
of slots by other stones, also recommended for the easier difficulties of the
30 level dungeon.

Hephaestus- (Build up Points gained by beating enemies)
-------------------------------------------------------
It is in a silver cask near the entrance to the Poseidonia Shrine. You cannot
get it until you go back to the Hall of the Sun for the second time after
visiting the Hall of the Moon. When you jump down a cinema will show the stairs
you must climb to get the mystic flame needed to open the barrier leading to
the next section however to the left of the flame is a slide point if you slide
underneath the gap Rygar will be back outside and near a silver cask destroy it
and the stone is yours. If you have the stone equipped on a Diskarmour that
defeats an enemy, you gain ten points for the killing the ememy each. **(Note I
have tested this in higher difficuties and did not see a raise in build up
points, making me wonder if it is useful on higher difficulties. Use the stone
only if needed, I think it is a waste of a slot)**

Dionysus- (Enemy knockback small to medium)
-------------------------------------------
Found randomly on Hard difficulty. Enemies can be knocked back to take extra
damage from Rygar's attacks. You will need to execute a combo attack to deliver
the knockback, or it won't do
anything.

Hestia- (Auto-guard On)
-------------------------
Only found only on Easy difficulty. In the Elysion Shrine after fighting the
Sphinx for the first time. It is in one of the black pillars around the center
structure that contains the Heaven Diskarmor and the table that Rygar reads
before receiving the new diskarmor. The Hestia stone will block automatically
for Rygar if he is not attacking, airborne, or recovering from a hit.

Hera- (Upgrades Remote, Widens the Attack Area from 90 to 180 degrees)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
This stone is found on Mt. Othrys, the Centaur and a cut scene. After you
regain control of Rygar go through the door to the left and jump up the
platforms to the entrance with light coming in. Jump to each ledge while going
accross and on the third one left Rygar fall off you will land next to another
silver cask containing the Hera stone.

-------------------
Third Row
-------------------

Persephone- (Changes Snap, Quick throw without swing)
-----------------------------------------------------
Ok I read Simalcrum's description on how to get this and then re-read it I can
only think of one location it could be, I apologize for the confusion, I might
clear this up at a later time if I replay from scratch and confirm it but
please bear with me.  The location I assume Simalcrum is referring to is after
defeating the Centaur exit his cavern and continue to the right smash the rock
on the small ledge and jump onto it continue jumping forward and around the
corner destroy that cask. Here is Simalcrum's description as well I will
correct this in a future version when I have reconfirmed the location of the
stone.

"Head back to the area in the Main Area with the Mt. Othrys Warp and stomp the
lone switch in that area. This allows Rygar to drop down to Persephone. use the
cliff trail above the
stomp switch to get to the statue. Persephone basically allows Rygar to
instantly grab and throw an enemy instead of going through any twirling motion
beforehand."

Instead of having to use the half circle "snap" and hook the enemy to twirl
them around Persephone let's you shoot the diskarmor into the victim and start
swinging, for you to be able to rack up high combo attacks.

Hermes- (Dash Useable)
--------------------------
Next to the warp that takes you to back to Labyrinthos is a silver cask on a
ledge, how do you get it you ask, here's how. In the area with the Elysian
Shrine to your right and the back path in front of you and the Labyrinthos warp
to your left is a hard to see walkway to your right sorta hidden, if you go
that way you will walk into another area with a ledge that leads to a yellow
globe to grab onto swing accross (it is sometimes hard to get a good lock on
it, so be careful, otherwise you'll have to start over) land on the ledge on
the other side climb the wall, smash the cask and walaa, new stone. This stone
just enables Rygar to do a standing dash again nice but ultimately useless as
well. (See FAQ's section for a more detailed explanation.)

Zephyrus- (Invincible while jumping)
------------------------------------
This is another randomly gotten stone. I got mine on the path to the stomp
ability from one of the "Roller" worms that I destroyed along the way, but as
it is random you could find it anywhere but mostly in the mainfield area.
Simalcrum provides the description and where he found it.

"This is a random drop from an enemy. I believe I got this in the Main Field,
on Normal, on a replay. It was either this stone or Demeter. Zephyrus renders
Rygar completely immune to harm while he is rising in the air from a jump, but
not after the peak of his jump, after which Rygar starts falling. If Rygar is
falling from a higher ledge to a lower ledge, he will not be invincible
either."

This stone is very useful in the final battle with Cronus when he does his
ground attacks, time wisely before jumping though.

Boreas- (Upgrades Tackle, Invincible while attacking)
-----------------------------------------------------
This stone is located in an area outside of where you get the tackle ability go
down on the screen jump onto the ledge out of the water hook up onto the upper
platform, tackle the box,  then jump onto it grapple up onto the floating
platform and ride up. I am not even going to attempt to explain how to easily
get this one, this was the Number One most asked question (please read the FAQ
for a excellent description by Cush1978 on how to obtain it) You can try to
either land on the platform yourself, hook the yellow globe you can barely see
or save yourself the trouble and read the answer in the FAQ section. After you
land on the ledge go into the hole Rygar will fall down landing next to a
silver cask containing the Boreas stone. The stone is similar to the Zephyrus
stone only it makes you invincible while tackling instead of jumping, but still
a very limited technique.

Notus- (Upgrades Stomp Invincible in the beginning)
---------------------------------------------------
To round out the trio of invincible granting stones we have Notus which makes
you invincible while starting your descent, useful either after leaping from a
cliff of on the descent from a jump. The location is on the path to Arcadia
with the jump from rock to rock, (careful on Legendary you die if you fall off)
when you reach the first set of rocks that go in a circle continue past the
first jump off point to a set of three rocks (the third going up and down to
another rock formation with a breakable stone, a glide drop off point and a you
guessed it a silver cask smash it and the stones yours. Simalcrum's tip:

"You may want to combine Notus and Zephyrus to make Rygar invulnerable while in
the air."

-------------------
Fourth Row
-------------------

Eurus- (Upgrades slide Invincible in the beginning)
---------------------------------------------------
This is also a random stone gotten from an enemy before entering the Poseidonia
Shrine. It's pretty much like all the others that give invincibility just now
available to your slide. Useful in the right situations experiment and see if
you like it. (Possible advantages include using it to get close to the
minotaur, or other enemy's who try to keep you at bay.

Clotho- (Double Icol collected)
-------------------------------
Another commonly asked question, above the warp on Mt. Othrys is a column you
can't get to however there are lava "Rollers" that constantly fall even after
killed you have two options here either use the worms as projectiles to knock
over the column or try to hit it with the "Hades Execution" special attack.
The stone is in the silver cask. The Clotho stone gives Rygar double the Icol
from the Pneuma dropped from enemies, as well as recieve extra Icol from
defeating enemies.

Lachesis- (Reduces Icol needed to summon familiar)
--------------------------------------------------
Basically meaning intead of only five bars you have access to six bars of
power, very hansy for activating the most powerful summons twice in a row. It
is available only in Legendary difficulty, in the Necromandio Cave Level 25.
Dress accordingly before attempting the trek into the cave.

Atropos- (Mediation, heal Icol using life)
------------------------------------------
A mixed bag this stone is, handy when you need magic and you need it now, and
have a slight over abundance of health. Another of the famed random stones in
the game, here's what Simalcrum had to say about it's whereabouts.

"This was dropped by a random enemy while I was navigating one of the
towers in Labyrinthos."

Nike- (Guard cancel usable)
---------------------------
After receiving the stomp. Go back to the beginning of Mt. Othrys to the spot
after you defeated the Minotaur climb the ledges and go to the stomp switch the
rock will crumble smash the cask and walaa new the Nike stone is yours. I
wonder if it comes in a  air pegasus version. The stone is good while blocking
hitting the attack button right after defending Rygar uses his Diskarmor in a
defensive shoo away type move to get the attacking enemy disorinated so you can
counter attack. Very limited usefulness in my opinion use sparingly, but feel
free to experiment.

-----------------------------------------
Fifth Row (And final row, thank goodness)
-----------------------------------------

Nemesis- (Knockback Cancel Attack Useable)
------------------------------------------
In the area where Echina has her speech and you also acquire the Ares and
Athena stones is a area directly off to the right of the hole in the ground
that contains a grating that can be smashed as well as a wall behind it that
needs to be destoyed the stone is inside the cask in the wall.  **Note: I
encountered an error getting this stone once I broke open the wall and all I
saw was the glowing around where the cask should be but no cask, a possible
solution which worked for me was to leave the area going out the entrance door
and reentering problem solved. Here's what Simalcrum says:

"You can get this stone on Easy or Normal."

Eirene- (Halves damage given and taken)
---------------------------------------
This is located in the Shrine after fighting the Sphinx after getting the
Heaven Armor, the same place as where the Hestia stone was located, the only
catch is it is only available on Legendary difficulty. Basically as the
description reads you do half damage, the the enemy deals half damage, useful
except it is a pain to switch Diskarmors all the time, best bet unless you are
going for a high combo score forget using it, it's usefulness is very small.
Simalcrum's tip:

"You may want to equip this stonewhen you are dodging enemies, then getting rid
of it just before you attack."

Hypnos (Life restored when resting)
-----------------------------------
To use this after getting it leave the controller idle for a few moments Rygar
will eventually kneel regaining his power while doing so (use this in
combination with Morpheus for a boss beating good time, and a full powered
Rygar to boot) It is available on the 25th level of the Necromondio Cave while
on Normal difficulty. Tips for effectively using this stone while facing the
bosses, are in the boss strategy section. This is essential if you plan on
winning Legendary mode..trust me.

Tanatos- (Critical attacks possible)
------------------------------------
Another essential stone one that I use always after receiving it. A boss
finishing off stone, try it you'll like it, use it with the Sea Diskarmor for
maximum effectiveness, granting critical damage for some decent damage
potential. It is available where Simalcrum?

"World 4, Labyrinthos, second floor. Find it near the switch among the
rubble." Thankyou.

Morpheus (Icol restored when resting)
-------------------------------------
It is available in the same place as it's counterpart Hypnos in the Necromondio
Cave on Level 25, only on Hard difficulty instead. Like I stated before this is
an essential stone to be paired with Hypnos for defeating Legendary difficulty.
Paired with a few safe spots during boss encounters and they'll go down
screaming, essential for fighting Typhon on Legendary, a must have. 'Nuff said.

===========================
IV. Boss Strategy
===========================

(Or if you can't beat'em, know them better than they know themselves, or cheat
to win...sorta)

Here I will discuss a few strategies I have picked up through Four playthroughs
of the game as well as any tips, and safe spots while facing the bosses, this
will be mostly helpful for folks playing through the first time and those of us
who have to have everything, and destroy Legendary mode a time or two. I will
go into detailed strategies or small blurbs as needed. Continue on.

A small note some summons' work more effectively against some bosses than
others experiment with them to test effectiveness. (Ex. Minotaur is weak
against Taros from the Heaven Diskarmor. Use level three summon to dish out the
pain.)

Before I go on, all these strategies are accomplished with a Level three
powered up Diskarmor and these stones as a basic setup Ares, Athena, and my
secret weapon Tantos, (gotta love critical attacks) that means one slot open
use what you want unless..(If you need specialized stones I listed them in the
bosses attack profile) Read on and win that's an order...

I added alternate strategies from everyone who submitted them, some might be
very similar to mine but if you are stuck maybe they can help you out or at
least give you another angle to help you look at your problem. (Thanks bunches
guys, your the greatest.)

Hekatonchieres
--------------
The monstorous statue is pretty fearsome when first met, the best strategy is
to get use to blocking but if you come from the school of "War of Attrition"
like myself you'll get your butt handed to you a few times until you get a
technique down to whoop'em. The basic strategy is to wedge yourself in on the
left or right side of the horse only stopping to block when the horse's flame
comes near. (Watch out on Legendary the shockwave from the club damages you
quite well and you'll be dead before you know it) After the mini-cutscene
showing the damage you inflicted. Convienently placing you away from the
monster run this time to the right side and start plugging away again, (being
again careful of the horse's flame, it's stomp, and the soldiers sword.) After
enough plugging away and a little luck you should advance to the next section.

Sphinx
-------------
This boss is not to hard so I'll give a few pointers first off, stand directly
in front of him facing him but leave some room bewtween you and the barrier
wall.  When he is on top of the pedistool so when his electric bolts come
raining down you can activate a slide towards the barrier to dodge the attack.
Note he will do this attack twice in arow on higher difficulty levels.  Run
back to the starting position and wait for wave two as the energy bolts circle
and ready for attack run to the left of the screen the run right when they go
down after you slide yet again to get out of harms way. This attack is also
done twice on higher difficulties. Sphinx will then come down to personally
talk with you, if he shoots homing bolts after you Rygar can block with his
Diskarmor to absorb the attacks this is very handy with the second form of the
Sphinx after this fight as well. Anyway try to stand at his side or back right
or left never the front or rear due to his charge up breath blast and his tail
(respectively) After receiving a bit of damage he will retreat rinse and repeat
first two steps, now for a new trick he will make illusion masks to try and
damage you, best bet stand still and swing the Diskarmor like a madman until he
reforms himself solid. Then attack again, continue this process until the boss
is dead.

Cetus
---------
If you need help with him ask someone else, he isn't hard even on Legendary,
use the Sea/Hades combo I talk about in the other boss fights a few hints
though if you see a ripple in front of his mouth do not be standing there you
will be frozen, the way to stop him from freezing you is to strike him a few
times and stun hum to cause him to abandon the attack.  Also then he swims next
to you run around until his attack comes from above then run all the way
forward to avoid the other attack he unleashes. Yeah and if you are stuck
behind a block of ice and he's coming after you break it and run. And if you
are not far enough off of the block of ice he is about to break while chasing
you, jump at the last second as to not be injured and make it to the next block
unscathed. Now go away, I have more important things to type. (Didn't think I
was gonna help you out did ya) :p

Minotaur
---------
This and the Cyclops' have to be the most pain in the @$$ enemies in this game,
so here is my little strategy for kicking his can as well as the invisible
variety. Reccomended tools for the job, Sea Diskarmor, and the Tanatos stone
(basically required for every boss or enemy I fight) I like to either jump in
or slide in close and start wailing away Rygar might get lucky and slip past
the monster confusing him enough that he doesn't know which way to go, he has a
few possible counter attacks at his disposal. First the most annoying he
punches the ground and you go flying, a neat little trick I like to use on him
is to use a level one siren attack right before he attacks to stun him and
nullifying the attack he was going to use on me, blocking I think works as well
but you will be knocked back. Next is his tail lethal in it's own right if you
try to sneak up on him but doable just watch out for it and block when
neccessary. And finally the most dangerous is his sword attack, it is very hard
to determine if he will land the blow unless he uses the spin attack to hit you
then watchout, it he does a straight lunge if you can get out of the line of
fire and dodge the attack while he is still recovering get in there and give it
to him. Rinse and repeat until dead. And please, please save before this fight
because it would be stupid not too, If your finger slips off the controller and
he accidentally wins ;)

Now for the minotaur in Tartarus,(before Echidna) Save, powerup if possible
with the Morpheus/Hypnos combo or other energy/icol restoring stones. Or leave
Tartarus and go power up and come back, but please don't forget to save.

A little trick to make the minotaur fight easier from Squid Z:

And one other thing. I don't know who discovered it, but someone on this board
mentioned it's very easy to stun Minotaur indefinitely (and never take a hit)
with the square, square, triangle combo of the Hades Diskarmor. I don't recall
seeing it your boss strategy section, and it makes any fight against Minotaur,
much, much easier.

Another way to go about fighting the minotaur from VanRaily:

First of all, you need to equip the Hermes stone and the Sea Diskarmor. When
the battle begins, immediately get behind the Minotaur and stand *right behind
him*, as in basically touching him, on either side of his tail (I usually went
with the left side). He won't be able to attack with his sword, so you're safe
from those attacks. Just make sure you keep moving with him as he tries to turn
around. The only attack that he will do is punch the ground--when you see him
lift his hand, just block. The attack won't hurt you, but it will knock you
back quite a bit. This gives him enough time to turn around and face you.
However, with Hermes equipped, *immediately* dash back towards him as soon as
you recover from the block. This sets you right back behind him again, without
allowing him to turn and face you. Do a quick combo with the Sea Diskarmor
(nothing fancy or you run the risk of him doing the ground-punching attack in
the middle of your attack). As soon as you finish the attack, just block and
he'll punch the ground again. Dash back and repeat. The only thing you need to
look out for is his tail when he starts to swing it (which isn't much of a
problem in the first place; it's just annoying). I believe he can also pull off
that massive-damage dash attack, but I don't recall. If so, your FAQ tells how
to deal with that.

Red Boa
---------
Next up is the Dragon thingy Red Boa, who is quite a push over in the first
three weight classes (Easy-Hard) but puts on the brass knuckles for Legendary.
Simply enough in the lower difficulties use the Sea/Hades attack and he should
retire forever after that point on, and make a stunning exit. However he likes
to not give you a seconds notice in Legendary and cheats like a mofo by not
letting you get anywhere near him to attack, but there is alittle way I'd like
to call "let your summons kick his can" which is easy to do as well as heart
healthy as well. In the further most right section (later where you can use the
red globe to grapple up) there is a safe spot where you can use our old
favorites Morpheus and Hypnos to refresh yourself and give Boa a run for his
money, basically call Siren, or your favorite summon of choice and work him
over that way till dead...YAWN...next, I need a challenge.

Centaur
---------
Preperation first..be prepared is a scouts motto...Anyway, on every difficulty
except Legendary the Sea diskarmor will be your best friend, on Legendary a
combo of Sea/Hades will get the job done, And the Hestia stone of course. The
Centaur will run immediately for one end run after him get as close as possible
then let him have it with the sea diskarmor if your real good you can damage
him just enough so you can have him do threee runs back and forth and do major
damage before his last stand, or if you're like me I damage him on both ends
enough that he goes to the center an starts going at it. Now if you have auto
guard on everytime he attacks and your not attacking, hopefully you will block
his shots. (A small hint unless you are getting in his face with the Sea
Diskarmor only attack for two swipes with the Hades Diskarmor so he doesn't get
a cheap hit in if you go for three hits, you are in this to win no matter how
fast you'd like to defeat him always remember that, with enough patience and
preserverence you'll beat him and be onto out next subject...

Icarus (Second Battle)
----------------------
People were experiencing difficulties defeating him as well but after you learn
his techniques as well as when to block and don't block (If you have Hestia it
is recommended you should use it here if you are not comfortable with manually
blocking) and when to attack. Ok the basics watch Icarus he changes color
right, usually to the diskarmor you have equipped...well when you try to attack
him with that color you won't damage him so change to another diskarmor (the
recommended ones for this fight are the Hades and Sea Diskarmors) you're best
bet is to run around until he initiates an attack on you. If it is his sword
juggle-catch rain down on you combo run and slide at the last second (slide
will be your best friend in this fight next to the block button.) Now after he
does this two things will happen the camera will lose all perspective for a few
seconds making you completly vunerable to attacks, it is best to either swing
blindly hoping for a connection or use the block key until your view is
somehwhat restored to make a optical decision to attack or not. His other
attack is to shoot an energy ball at you in this case dodge and slide out of
the way. The time he is most vunerable is when he does a flip attack at you and
his swords are in the ground, hit'em where it hurts hopefully with the Sea
Diskarmor but we'll take what we can get.  He has one other attack in which he
dashes accross the screen at you either slide, or block your choice. After
being a defensive fighter eventually he will wear down and succumb leaving you
if you're lucky, with minimal damage and ready to go take on Typhon....

Alternate Strategy by csneddon, (Thanks for the help)

An note about defeating Icarus: I found it easier to defeat him with jumping
attacks and spin-hold the sea diskarmor.  I've seen other tips state the best
way to beat him is to allow a barrage of his attacks and then wait for an
opening. I disagree with this. Eventually he will hit you and badly.  A better
way I've found is to allow him to throw those lightning balls at you from a
distance, slide in towards him after he shoots one, jump-hit with the
diskarmor. You'll get in a good hit.  A second type of attack is to hold-spin
your sea diskarmor (when he is the correct opposing color) after he has dropped
from the sky from an air assualt. He'll manuever towards you so make sure you
move so that the sea diskarmor is in his way. I've gotten 10 hits (the tenth
taking away about 1/5 his energy) using this method. This takes practice to get
good at but if you do it right, you'll get through the round nearly unscathed.

And one more from VanRaily:

Icarus (Second):
Equip the Hades Diskarmor and wait for Icarus to change his color to red. Just
remain where you and block. Allow him to get close to you and start one of his
combo attacks. In the middle of his attack, switch to the Sea Diskarmor and
summon a Lv. 1 Siren. Siren will freeze him--use this chance to wail on him for
a bit until he's able to escape. In Normal mode, I managed to take off a fifth
of his life in a single one of these sequences. He's extremely easy to beat
this way, although it does consume all of your icol (unless you have the proper
stone equpped).

Well, I hope you find that info useful. (I did, thankyou for letting me use it)

Typhon
-------------
The Five headed evil baby lizard thingy...Ok let's get the setup strategy out
of the way equip the Sea Diskarmor and get siren ready also if you have it, the
Atropos and Lachesis stones if available. If you forget beforehand equip them
as Rygar is falling to the ground to face the boss do so then. When you land
run quickly to the front and wait for Typhon to align it's heads (all of them)
midway or slightly lower on his body, then unleash Siren for a full Three bar
attack. Now if you are quick enough after the attack use the power of the
Atropos stone to give you alittle boost of Magic so you can fire off another
level three blast with Siren, if done correctly you will do any where from
25-50% damage depending on difficulty level. Now if you are playing Legendary
get the heck outta Kansas and retreat to a small safe haven just down of being
in between the second and third heads and let your Icol rebuild with Morpheus
equipped, if you don't have it or if you are not fighting him on a high
difficulty level, then equip Hypnos if needed to rejuvenate health until
totally healed. Then get back into combat jumping and trying to hit the head(s)
when they get low enough (preferably attacking the outside two first, as they
like to sweep accross the sweep inflicting damage, critical damage on
Legendary) The only advice I can give to Legendary players is restore the Icol
using that stone and Summon, Summon, Summon. Typhon should be defeatable on the
lower difficulties with not too much problems, like I said if you run into
problems on Hard retreat and regain health. Now on normal learn the patterns as
best you can since you don't have the option of hit and run and powerup. You
have to rely on skill, good blocking, and good timing for maximum
effectiveness. If you die reload press start to skip the never ending cutscenes
and go back to action. Eventually, luck or skill will be on your side and you
will succeed.

Echidna
------------
Ok time for another episode of Rygar vs. the bad guys in this case it's his
mother...or something like that. Echindna checklist.  Heaven Diskarmor with
Hera stone, check. Sea Diskarmor, with Icol at full and Siren ready to go,
check. Ok you're ready. I have gotten a 112 combo off of Echidna plus higher
sometimes as well (Darn Cronus, killing me after so I don't have my highest hit
combo on her saved on record) "Ok get on with it" you say, Ok I hear ya, for
starters run up to the right side and bury yourself in between the leg and neck
or as far as the barrier will let you go and let the fun begin. Call Siren
level one out and freeze Echidna, then use the diskarmor to start pounding away
when she unfreezes rinse and repeat and be in awe of the large combo before
you, after you run out of Icol....uh oh....we got a problem it's no longer an
easy fight, need magic I thought you did here's where the Heaven Diskarmor
comes in handy run all the way to the left side of the screen destroying the
mound things as you go and clearing enough out so you can see around you
clearly, you might have to also destroy the ones further up just DO NOT destroy
the one all the way in the back you will need that later. Now stand with your
back facing the wall and wait until the shadow spiders start attacking then
unleash your secret weapon (the heaven diskarmor) do a full 180 sweep once,
then retract and do it once more for the straggler shadow spider. Rinse and
repeat until Icol is refilled. But I'm not gonna leave you hanging just yet, as
good old Echidna isn't going to sit by and idly wait for you to power back up
to kick her butt without a going away (far away) present. Here are her other
two attacks you should be concerned about. The dark ring attck while not lethal
will damage you enough due to prolonged exposure, but that is not the difficult
one to dodge is it. After about 50-70% damage she unleases energy balls similar
to what the Sphinx had only more difficult to get the timing down due to a
delay before firing them, (Do not listen for the audio cue or you will get hit
everytime) watch them and right when or before you hear the sound run and when
you see them move and start their attack on you slide. Once you get the timing
down it becomes second nature you just have to know what to look out for. After
that little annoyance and after you have full power take her down to almost
dead, repower your Icol while not withstanding too much damage (Don't forget
the health up in the mound all the way to the back of the screen) power your
health up and with full Icol summon Siren one more time and bada-bing episode
ends, stay tuned for the Big Bad man himself...Cronus

An alternate strategy from csneddon:

If the Echidna blows black smoke at you, maneuver to the far back of the cavern
and jump over the stream as it passes. It will miss you completely. This takes
some practice.
Assuming you have full icol and energy, go up to the Echidna and release a
level 1 (level 1 ONLY) familiar with hades diskarmor in hand. The Echidna will
be stunned with flames. Quickly, do the hades maneauver (square, square,
square, trangle). Repeat this process until all your icol is out. At the easy
and normal levels, you can use the orphalus to replenish the icol and finish
off the Echidna. Unfortunately this does not work on the hard and legendary
levels. Hits don't do as much damage as in previous levels. It takes many more
hades maneuvers to defeat the Echidna.

When on the hard and legendary level:

First, Use up all your icol in the above mentioned method BUT DON'T USE your
orphalus just yet. There is another way to replenish your icol up enough to
defeat the Echidna...the spiders!
Go to the back right corner of the cavern. Smash all the pillars to give you
some room (except the one with the nectar, save that for later). Let the
kamakazi spiders come at you, block every single one of them with your
diskarmor. The spiders will be momentarily stunned. At this point you need to
decide VERY quickly which diskarmor to use. If the stunned spiders are in a
line in front of you, use the hades diskarmor to destroy them. If they are
strung out around you, use the heavenly diskarmor and circle sweep attack to
detsroy them all.
One or two of them may get away and try to attack you again. If this happens
run at 90 degree angles to the spider as it moves. This will allow you enough
distance from them to attack with ease. Don't forget you can jump over them.
Most of the time a couple of the spiders will leave an icol. Pick up the icol.
Repeat the process until you feel confident enough to attack the Echidna with
the hades maneuver. NOTE: Watch out for the black circle stomp attack from the
Echidna!!

Is IS VERY IMPORTANT to use the "destroy spiders - get icol" method before the
Echidna's energy gets too low. If you end up with not enough icol and the
Echidna has low energy, it gets mad and will continously attack with those
unavoidable lightning bolts (takes off about a third of your energy!!). If the
Echidna prepares to throw those lightning bolts and you have icol, go up to it
and use immediately. That will stop it in its tracks. Make sure you always have
enough icol to finish off the Echidna at the end. Icol is the key to beating
the Echidna.

A small tip from Squid Z:

I find throwing the spiders back at Echidna far more effective, as it hurts her
and they still drop Icol when they hit her. Clotho mystic stone is important as
well, since you can get double the Icol.
As for Cronus, it's simple: Aim for the core.

Make sure you have the quick snap mystic stone equipped before you try throwing
the spiders though.

Here's another one from VanRaily:

I found a way to avoid Echidna's lighting balls: simply equip the dash stone
(Hermes). Assuming you've got enough room to move around, just start using your
dash (L1 + X) to zip all over the room (just don't get stuck). Or, if you have
good enough timing, dash right before she shoots them.

Note that this is more difficult to pull off if you left some spiders alive.

Cronus
------------
The final battle....finally (that sucked let me start over) The battle to end
to all battles the apocolyptic tryptic showdown and throwdowninasium...(Thanks
Don King I'll call you when I need more help with another fight description)
*Runs away fast* Ok where were we. Oh yes you first find yourself upside down
in Cronus' lair and then just as suddenly right side up. Ok fight checklist.
Ambrosia check. (tell me you didn't waste it in that stupid 30 level dungeon,
come on don't scare me like that, bahh if you did don't worry about it he's
beatable even it you don't have it, but a full or almost full life ball is a
necessity if this is not available) Caduceus, check. (you are either really
good or lucky to have this right now, in my case I'm just good :p) Omphalos,
check. Like the American Express card never leave home without it (Critical but
not totally neccessary to defeat Legendary just makes it easier) Boreas stone,
check (Boreas stone what the heck for you ask, well the little bit about
invincibility and jumping, go for the sliding one if that suits you, this is my
personal choice) Ok alittle about his strategies he has a time freeze attack in
that case be ready to jump, unless you already are jumping then hold the button
down hard this will almost always guarantee they will miss and you will be
unscathed. Ok his next attack he flies into the air and rains down circles of
damage unto the ground...ok my strategy for this is to stay at the bottom of
the screen and dodge the area they are affecting at the given moment you will
have to play it by ear you might get damaged occasionally but as long as you
don't get hit everytime you should be fine. Ok, the next attack he has is a
push back attack nothing to worry about, get back in there slugger and show him
what you're made of, now for the last three he has a dark shadowy type ground
attack like Echidna's circles only much harder to dodge, which is why we have
the invincibilty stones yes?  Make sure you time it right because the timing
can be tricky do it correctly and Rygar will fall on his butt unscathed, done
wrongly and suffer pain. And the last two are doozy's.  A slash, when it
connects can damage more than half of your life on Legendary and a spin attack
if you are too close to him when you attack. Now my only advice for the first
is don't get hit, I know it's common sense but that move is very hard to see
coming, which is why again jump for invulnerability see my case for that
now...yes? Ok enough tactics now for some action. On Easy and Normal and to
some extent Hard I use Siren summone and the Sea Diskarmor to freeze him (level
one attack) then go up and beat him down with the quick attacks before you know
it, Cronus has a one way ticket back to nothingness, now as far as another way
to deal with Hard, use the same basic strategy unless your getting hammered if
so follow me for the Legendary strategy. Legendary defeat requires you to use a
summon (preferably Siren) the Lachesis stone if avaiable (keep on only when
using Summons') and the Boreas stone (replaces Lachesis when not in use) start
by summoning Siren level three (if you were lucky from the last fight you
should have five bars available, if not hopefully the other items I listed
otherwise this is going to be a hard fight, especially on Legendary) Ok where
were we, after that is done and if you have any Icol left blast him again with
whatever store you have left. Now to the inventory activate the Omphalos to
restore Icol (use it now or after dealing some damage to him for the final
blow) and summon away....got it, good. If you have the Caduceus try to save
having to be forced using it from being damaged too much using it until the
last possible minute. I use a jump attack combo I get just within striking
range, no closer and let him have it (but only one hit per attack otherwise
your risking personal harm) your in this to last like before so have patience.
If he forces your hand and you activate the Caduceus so to work on him again
with the summons preferably (two, level three's) to give it to him good. With
perservenence, luck and hopefully some of the tips I provided you will defeat
him and get ready to start a new difficulty level more stuff to unlock (unless
you are already on Legendary) BUT WAIT.........What's this?

Dante (from Devil May Cry)
--------------------------
Didn't you know he was a secret boss, you mean you didn't know, and quite
possibly the hardest boss in the game....Ok enter the Konami code and get ready
for the battle of the century. Since he doesn't like getting his territory
encroached on by Rygar for the best looking and playing PS2 Action/Adventure,
watch out when the sparks fly, ok for the code..ready (up, up, down, down,
left, right, left, right)....well actually he isn't in the game but I'd just
thought I'd throw this in for all the folks that compare the two games even
though they are nothing alike. :p

Serves ya right for thinking that, there both good games, so quit comparing
them.

And need I go on with the comparisons I read lately, Shinobi, DMC, Onimusha,
and even Metriod Prime :O (Don't know where that one came
from)...groan...hopefully when Rygar 2 comes out we won't have this ignorant
debate continue again, And all the naysayers are proven wrong and see the games
stand on their own... ;)

V.Frequently Asked Questions
============================

Or the questions you want to know about and have asked about again, and again,
and again....ughh that makes my head hurt. Ok now for our first question.

Oh before I forget I answered all these on the Gamefaq's messageboards unless
otherwise noted.

----------------------------

Q.)What do the "artifacts (insert name here) of the future" do? And how do I
get them?
(Question asked by a few different people)

A.)They help you fill in your gallery sections (ie. Theater, Music, and
Pictures sections) To locate them all smash everything and anything to see if
it breaks, look everywhere as these things are hidden all over the place on all
difficulties (easy, normal, hard, and yes even legendary but only on the first
time through) A few even I overlooked was the secondary yellow globe in the
Shrine of the three heroes, you must go to each side to break both casks
containing either a stone or piece of the future. I missed one and a stone so
hopefully you do better then me. :(   Good Luck.

----------------------------

Q.)In the main field near the teleport shrine, there's a yellow swing-point but
I can't seem to grab it. Help please?

One more is the sparkling statue above the electrical room in Arcadia, how to
get there?
Thanks in advance :)

(Question from Guylon)

A.) (Answered by my hero and super answer man Cush1978) **Read this answer
carefully if you are stuck here.**

Probably the two hardest to figure out. There is more than one warp point in
the main field, but I know where you're talking about I think. You don't need
the yellow globe. On the previous screen (the one where the yellow globe is
actually visible), head to the right, around the corner. You can't see where
you're going, but you'll get the idea.

As for the other one, watch the 3rd demo from the title screen. I JUST had to
do this again last night (don't bother on HARD mode, it's just 100 experience
points) and here's what you do.

Get to the upper-right of the elevator stone.

When you jump off, jump off to the right, but hook around to up. You see, if
you jump off and immediately start pushing up, you'll hit an invisible barrier
that hinders your jump. You have to jump out to the right to avoid that
barrier, but then start pushing up to land on the ledge. You do NOT have to
catch that yellow globe to land on the ledge.

Cush

------------------------------------------

Q.)Can you explain the one in the mainfield better? Can you really grab the
yellow globe?
 (Question from Shiine)

A.)Since you still are alittle confused on that I will explain it since I had a
tough time figuring it out but it is quite simple actually. The yellow globe
that is near the teleporter can be reached by going into a very hard to
see/determine location right before you go to the arch way to jump off the
platform to swing across the gap to the teleporter.

Let me try to explain this alittle better than I just did and it will make
sense.

When you originally enter the section from the Geryon hill area (where you
fought the purple flower enemy) you enter the next area with the collesium on
the right the teleporter to the left a statue to make the barrier in front of
you leading to the Elysion shrine go away beneath you, down the stairs. After
you aquire the swing ability in the area before the Labrynth section, you can
grab the globe but you probably already knew that. So anyway after you enter
the area go forward towards the barrier and make a left you will find debris on
the ground and urns in little cubby holes on the right and left of it, go left
here you will see oblisck like things on the railing and more stuff to smash
(not important) also you will see a red stone arch way in front of you which
leads to the teleporter. But instead of going through it go to the right where
it looks like you cannot walk at all, there will be a secret passageway that
leads to a walkway to the yellow globe you can see but never reach from the
main area. After it lights up jump and swing across and you will come to
another platform jump onto the wall climb up and recieve another mystic stone
if I am not mistaken. Sorry about the confused start I had to figure out the
best way to tell how to do it. Good Luck I hope this helped.

Later.

------------------------------------------

A tip from Dsmooth, about the Hades area that I didn't even know about, thanks.

Q.)Uncle555, is this in your FAQ?
(Question from Dsmooth)

Hey, I don't know if you found this out yet, but a few screens before you fight
that invisible Minotoar or shall i say the second screen after you enter
Tartaros, there's a hidden location to find an AMBROSIA just off the screen.
you'll notice if you look on the map a little loop besides the room that you
are in. Just jump off in that direction & you'll be in a small extension of the
room. In there you'll find a save point & an Ambrosia.

A.)It is now. :)

**Note from me: To enter this hidden room that takes you up to these two things
you must make Rygar jump upwards in the upper left corner of the screen (the
room in which you fight the first wave of red lava crawlers) and Rygar will
enter a small cave that leads to the hidden area. Good Luck. If you can't find
it look at the map very closely and you will see where he is talking about.

------------------------------------------

Q.)This one has been probably asked before, but since I searched and couldn't
find a similar thread, I need to know what are the benefits of playing levels
HARD or LEGENDARY?

Do you unlock special features that won't be availble by playing easier modes?
(Question from Unknown)

A.)By playing through the harder difficulty settings you will be able to find
all the "Mystical Stones" as well as unlocking several other diskarmor skins
which you can read about on the "Codes" page of this site. Also the game is
much more challenging obviously.

-------------------------------------------

Q.)I have beaten the game on Hard but have not as yet started on Legendary.
Does anyone know if the final cutscene on "Legendary" mode is altered or
special?
Thanks in advance.
(Question from Swiftshark)

A.)Legendary offers nothing else but a major challenge (oh boy are those bosses
mean) and the chance to get more stones and items for your gallery collection,
nothing else is new. There is  no new ending or anything else (other than the
satisfaction of handing Cronos his ***)

A.) (Answer also provided by Skyboy3) **Thanks!!**

Another big difference between Legendary and Hard is that falls are now
fatal. That was my biggest challange, going thru Arcadia without falling off
those platforms.

-------------------------------------------

Q.)Bug in Arcadia? Can't get to area after 2nd Icarus battle...

I went into Arcadia the first time, beat Icarus, and then instead of going past
him I went and got the Tackle move, then I went to the warp point to go all the
way back to the beginning of the game so that I could grab all those mystic
stones hidden by the tackle ability.

Now, when I try to get back into Arcadia, and try to go into the top cavern in
the Lion's head (the ground is metallic, there's a save point, etc) there's a
barrier there now and I can't get past it. There's no switch, etc as far as I
can see.

Am I missing something? I beat the game once already, but I can't seem to
figure out where I should be going next...
(Question from Unknown)

A.)Here's some possible advice. Did you use the tackle to move the block out of
the way (it appears before the barrier does. (Plus I have gone down the steps
and have saved and even tried the jump off the floating platform to get the
mystic stone, Boreas before fighting Typhon)

Another thing can you use the tackle at the beginning and use the warp to get
back to the beginning section? If you can then somehow you managed to bypass
Typhon. And can continue on your game.

The barrier (at the base of the Lion) should not activate until after the
cutscene with Icarus and the Princess (before the Typhon fight)

Give these suggestions a try and see what happens, I have been through the game
4 times and no where have I gotten stuck. If nothing else it will only take 5-6
hours to complete the game again so if all else fails....

Anyway good luck and have fun let me know if this works..

Later.

--------------------------------------------

Q.)Where are all the Mystic Stones and how do I get them?
(Question from Me and others) :p

A.)Just read the FAQ that simalcrum posted on IGN :O The advice I gave was his
not my own I figured if someone else did all the work then I would take there
educated opinion over my ignorant guess so if he knows I am taking his word for
it. And he says that you have to play ALL difficulties even Legendary as there
are a few native to it and they are not all in the 30 level dungeon. Don't
believe me read the FAQ. **(Or you can read my updated FAQ up above :p )

'Nuff said. Later.

A.) (Answered by unknown too) **Thanks**
Yeah his FAQ is pretty extensive too bad he won't allow it to be posted here
huh? Anyway yeah you have to beat all four difficulties to get ALL of the
mystical stones. This also includes going into the 30 level dungeon.

**(This was of course answered before I wrote this today, FYI)**

--------------------------------------------

Q.)Just beat the game on Hard and I'm still missing.......

Can anyone tell me if these items are on Legendary or did I miss them somewhere
else? ps I was also missing 3 mystic stones but they ARE on Legendary. This was
confirmed via a reply I recieved on a similar topic,it had a link to a Mystic
Stone FAQ on IGN.COM.
(Question from Unknown)

A.)Yeah it was probably from me or someone else who responded as I am now
playing legendary I can confirm you have to play it to get what you are
missing, I was doubtful at first but after the Sphinx fight I got my first
addition to my collection. So My guess is (I am at the Centaur right now so I
cannot comfirm that the 30 level dungeon is also required (level 25 only, as 30
reaps the Udon armor) Anyway I hope this answers your question. Good luck and
have fun.

Later.

--------------------------------------------

Q.)Right after 'Halfway Up Mt. Othrys' where about 10 rollers drop down to
attack you, one at a time, I can see an unreachable piece of the mountain just
off the cliff on the far right. I can see a column on the piece of mountain,
and I imagine that it can be knocked down to form a bridge, but I just can't
reach it. I have a feeling that there's a mystic stone there, so I must get
across!

Somebody, help!!
(Question from Disciple of Ryo)

A.)Wowwee alot of new faces around the board no wonder no one has gave any good
info :) Anyway to completely fill in the gallery you need to play all
difficulties including legendary (yes even this) I am still getting items for
it in this difficulty. And the same with the mystic stones currently I have a
Ares +31 and Athena +37 (another topic had a link to IGN and a faq detailing
the stones and how to get them all) and they go up to +50 as well. I am not
going to add more info, please look at the old topics and posts (if they are
still there) there is alot of good information for people who are stuck and
alot of frequently asked questions are answered as well. Good luck and have
fun.

Also about the Mt. Othryus thing it can be done with Hades Execution or the
worm throwing you just have to hit the column in the right spot.

--------------------------------------------

Q.)Planter under bridge near Mt.Othyrus warp...

In the main hub area there is a small platform with a planter (yellow jar with
plant in it) on it, it's located near the warp to Mt. Othyrus in an area with a
stomp switch and a double decker bridge that goes over a Sea disk torch. The
pot is just across from a small ledge with a grapple pulley (red) at the bottom
of the broken bridge that connects the hub area to the Mt. O warp. I hope I've
described it well enough...

How the heck do you break that planter? I've tried the Heaven disk with
extended remote and it comes very close but it still doesn't reach... HELP!!!
(Question from Unknown)

A.)Boy you guys sure go about it the hard way, all you have to do is stand in
the bottom corner and press triangle (with the Hades diskarmor)Rygar will spin
around and fling the armor out breaking the pot, do it again to claim your
reward. It is only useful to do in Normal as if I remember correctly after you
get it once no other difficulty gives you anything other than the Icol Pneuma
refill. There ya have it good luck and have fun.

Later.

---------------------------------------------

Q.)5 baby headed hydra
hi, really having probs with this boss. anyone got any clues?
(Question from Unknown)

A.)I posted on another topic a easy way to beat him if you have the Hypnos
stone (which if on your first play through you probably won't have before
fighting him) there is a total safe spot to power up away from Typhon and it is
NOT next to the sealed door it is on the bottom of the screen accross the lava
on a platform you can stand on that makes you totally safe form his attacks, on
a side note there is a safe spot from Red Boa as well in the right corner of
the cavern. I know these don't help beginners on normal mode but on harder
difficulties (or second playthrough on easy as well if you need to) where
bosses give you a whooping then they are a life saver. So if you need a
breather then that is the way to go for defeating Typhon. Good luck.

Later.

**Questions and answers intertwined as he asked in a list form?** (FYI, this
was also answered before my FAQ was written)
(Questions by Unknown for this and the next set)

Q.)I'll answer a few based on my own experience since you seem to be very
curious as to what does what within the game this is not difinitive I am only
about to finish hard (played through Normal and Easy already) and some answers
I got from various sources so not necessarily my own. Ok here we go.

1. So, what does your Attack, Defense and Life go to? Wait, does your life
carry over as well? I hope it does. =(

A: My life is at 990 right now I received no life ups in hard to increase life
so I would say that is max unless someone else says otherwise and yes it does
carry over after each successfully completed game, my attack is about 97 (I
think?) my Ares stone is at +27 (but I heard it can go up to 50) so probably
somewhere into the low 120's) as far as defense I have Athena +33 and I am at
79 so probably again right around 100 total.

2. Can you type in more than one diskarmor at the title screen when you start a
new game so you can have all bonus armors on one file or can you only choose
one to start a new game with?

A: You can only use 1 at a time whether it be the Pizzaarmor, Guitaramor,
Udonarmor, ect. only 1 type, no mixing and matching. Also it is a bit of a pain
to get the regular ones back after picking a secret one.

3. Are you 100% positively sure about there being that many movies, music and
pics? I wish it was a bit more organized.

A: I cannot say he is 100% true but that sounds right I am still missing some
even after playing (Easy, Normal, and almost finishing Hard)

4. Whats the One world mode like? Do your regular game stats/stones etc carry
over into it, or is it a seperate side/mini game where you can build up your
rank.

A: Haven't played it yet but I assume everything carries over (not sure if you
gain anything here if you keep it to the main game but probably not) but you
can only play that specific world and it is to beat your score and rank.

5. Are mystic stones, pics, movies and music different on other difficulties?
Because I explored the hell out of the game on normal and im still missing a
few. I guess the rest are on the necro cave on different difficulties.

A: Yes they are Easy has a few different stones exclusive to it, but no relics
for opening up secrets. Normal has all three, Hard has a few exclusive stones
(mostly random finds, plus some relics) same goes for Legendary. Plus all but
Easy opens up a secret armor in the 30 level dungeon.

Hope this helps, good luck and have fun.

Q.)Thanks for answering. Now, about the gallery stuff. I noticed after the
game, I went to go look into my gallery and the lists just exploded for all
three sections. It seemed after clearing the game on any diff, the lists filled
itself out with all blank spaces for the stuff that you have not obtained yet.
so, all in all, this game ended up being perfect as expected. =)

Health=990? Really, thats wierd, I wonder if it will go up past that. Anyway,
about Defense and offense, by what you said, are you saying that your defense
and offense went past 99?

Heres another question.

1. How many secret diskarmor looks are there? Im assuming the game works like
this:

Beat Normal and Necro Cave: Get 2 new looks.
Beat Hard and Necro Cave: Get 2 new looks.
Beat Legendary and Necro Cave: Get 2 new looks.

So a total of 6 secret diskarmors, right? =)

A.)Sorry haven't replied in a few days I don't check the board that often. :)

Lesee Not sure I have heard beating hard fills it out completely but I wouldn't
count out having to find the icons in the game as well, but you never know I
could be wrong.

990 health is what I got playing Easy and Normal once the only places I know to
get the life up armor. So if you play through again (ie. a second or third
time) you might be able to get more Life ups and therefore increase your Max
hit points, someone who has done this care to chime in. I really don't want to
again beat them once good enough for me :b

**(Please note this, if the original poster wants credit please contact me and
I will credit you)

Umm...this is not my answer something another poster posted credit goes to him
for this. Thanks.

So far we have FIVE variant SETS of armor in addition to the original
set of three. Spoilers below!

They are:
1. Original (Hades/Heavenly/Sea)
2. Pizza (Cheese?/Pepperoni/Veggie/Shrimp)
3. Guitar (Rickenbacker???/Fender Stratocaster/Gibson LesPaul/Gibson
Flying-V) Forgive me if my guitar descriptions are inaccurate.
4. Burgers (hamburger/cheeseburger on sesame-seed bun/chicken with
cheese/deluxe burger)
5. Roller Caterpillars (standard/fire/mid-strength/blue)
6. Udon (plain/with tempura/with egg/with pork???)

See the screencaps here:
http://pages.sbcglobal.net/yonderboy/rygar/

(If you need to know which Difficulty please consult the other FAQ as I am not
100% sure which opens which specialty armor)
Hope this answers all of your questions you had again sorry for not checking
sooner haven't come around much I'll look alittle more frequently to see if you
have any more questions.

Later.

Q.)(Question from chiefy)
Hey, Im in the world 4 stuck on the towers i dont know how to get to the 2nd fl
in the right tower. When i go outside on the left tower it doesnt allow me to
swing over, but i guess that is how it is suppose to be. plz help

thank
chiefy

A.)Look closely at the ingame map (you will see a small gap in the map) listen
for the loud whirring sound as you go to the right from the horse statue, a new
section has opened up in the middle (center) of the tower that will let you
grapple up to the next level to continue on.

Good luck hope this helps.

Here is a tip from csneddon about Mystic Stone collecting and how to defeat
hammer Cyclops'.

Hey, all those who are getting pissed off because they are not getting the
random drop mystic stones...fear not. There is a great place to hang out and
keep collecting them continuously!! Way cool. Of course there is a catch. First
you need to be on the Legendary level and know how to battle cyclopes well.

With that in mind, proceed to Labyrinthos 2F tower. There are a number of
enemies guarding the bull mug (which you need to move in order to proceed to
the next level of the left tower) and a cyclops. Destroy the enemies and the
cyclops. The cyclops always leaves behind a valuable item. Most of the time it
is a mystic stone. Pick up the item, leave the room like you are going to the
next tower, but then proceed right back into the room. The game resets the
scene. Go to the side room where the bull mug is ...whoa...the cyclops has
regenerated...and with another valuable item!!!

Kill the cyclops and repeat the process of leaving, coming back and kill the
cyclops. Doing this I was able to obtain every single randomly dropped mystic
stone (Demeter, Dionysus, Zephyrus, Eurus and Atropos) and multiple Athena and
Ares stones getting their additive properties up to +40.

You won't always get a mystic stone. If you haven't upgraded your armor to
maximum, you will in place of a mystic stone receive 100 Safaria points good
toward an upgrade. After all your diskarmors are upgraded, you'll get icol. It
took about 50 "leave and come backs" before I got everything I wanted.

With this much power, I was able to defeat the Necromandio Cave on Legendary
level without difficulty.

SIDE TIP: Best way to kill a slow moving cyclops with a hammer is to use the
heavenly diskarmor in the stiff arm mode and slap in back and forth across the
cyclops at a distance where he can't get you. Often he will walk right into it.
You can get upwards of 12 multiple hits on him and he won't move while he's
being smacked.

The Sea diskarmor works too but you run the risk of getting hit by one of his
360 degree hammer swings while hitting him.

I use the Sea diskarmor for the cyclops that don't have a hammer and charge
you. Once past you, using the sea diskarmor stops them from a full speed
tackle.

---------------------------------------------

Q.)OK you guys that have completed at least the first two worlds, I need some
help! I can't seem to get past the cyclops in Colosus. What do I need to do???
(Question from indianfighter)

A.)Hit and run and learn how to block good. It will help you to defeat the few
Cyclops' that are annoyingly difficult without your goodies. I usually hit him
once or twice then run around them to goad him into trying to hit me again
which is risky but unfortunately a necessity. If he starts the mad hammer
swinging attack get some space in between you and him and attack away and
hopefully you will out last him. Good Luck.

----------------------------------------------

Q.)I'm at the very end against the final 3 bosses, but ill never make it
without some ambrosia, what to do??
(Question from mjg517)

A.)(Answer #1 from ItamiJizzaBizza)
If you have the stone that gives you health for every enemy you kill just equip
it and go back to the hidden dungeon. Stay in there until you have full life.
If not, you're pretty much out of luck.

IJB...

(Answer #2 from me)
Go out of Hades and look for enemies to kill, if none go to Arcadia and warp
back to the main field and kill enemies there or in the Elysian shrine it's a
bit of a pain but you will be powered up for the last 2-3 fights. BTW you can
leave after killing the invisible minotaur as well. the point of no return is
when fighting Echidna. Good Luck.

VI. Misc
===========================

Ok here is the section that includes little tidbits of info that I wouldn't or
had no place to add above it's not very big actually only three things but it's
a start. Updated, now with 5 bits of information. ;)

Here is an FYI, I recently played Argus No Senshi (Rygar, Japanese NES) and had
a very suprising discovery. That the music in the first two stages of the game
is TOTALLY different, then the U.S. version of Rygar, that's why everyone says
they wished for more "Rygar" tunes in the 30 level dungeon well you got your
wish...sorta. They actually redid the tunes from the opening of Argus No
Senshi, not Rygar.

Rygar appeared first in the Arcades in 1987, then right then after on the
Nintendo Entertainment System (NES and Famicom), the On various handhelds
(Atart Lynx, ect.) and had been absent from the gaming scene until this year
with Rygar the Legendary Adventure for PS2.

Did you know, Rygar's Japanese name is Zane (source: Electronic Gaming Monthly)

As of Nov. 2002 Rygar had only sold, 15,000 copies. As of Dec. 2002 it had sold
70,000 copies. As I was told as long as a game sells aproximately 150,000
copies it is deemed successful, yet not a blockbuster, so there is hope for a
sequel yet. (Source: Shiine)

Tecmo is rumored to be working on a sequel to the PS2 game so look for it late
2003 or 2004. See ya then. :) (Source: Official US Playstation Magazine)

VII. Credits/Thanks/Copyright Info.
===================================

As always first goes to me. :) I wasn't pissed at anyone this time when
I wrote this one so I guess that is an improvement.  I wouldn't have written
this if it wasn't for the glaring ommisions in the other faqs, also there
also was Eric's statement that he might not update his FAQ...have some pride
man finish
what you start...Capishe.....that is what got you this little gem that your
reading
right now. ;) also there not being a Mystic Stone on GameFAQ's (Damn, IGN) :p
which is
just a shame, also helped rally the cause.

A special thanks goes out to Eric "Sapharos" Lance for his Rygar FAQ,
incomplete
that it is and looking abandoned, I originally was going to let him have all
this delicious information for his FAQ then I thought about it NAAAAAHHH!!! He
ain't taking all the credit for my work...which leads us too...

Next a HUGE thanks goes to Simalcrum, in all seriousness he did all the
grunt work for me so I could write mine and complement his great work. And use
his
FAQ as a template of where to start but boy is it a pain to reword everything
so
I don't get in trouble for stealing *Phew* glad that's done. Thanks man a
bunch.
And if it wasn't for Simalcrum it woulda took me longer than
the nine and a half hours it is currently taking (need to learn to type
faster and spell correctly...I know.....more Typing of the Dead) >:D
Check his FAQ out, found here if you want to see the original (but notice the
additions
and changes I made to make an even better FAQ)

http://faqs.ign.com/objects/481/481006.html

Again please read their FAQ's (since I plugged them enough) they are well
detailed and thorough (not perfect, but that's why I am here to pick up what
they missed)

Personal thanks goes out to Everyone on the game FAQ's message boards for
motivating
me and giving me ideas as what to do next for my FAQ and for making me feel
good for
helping others...Or something like that. :p

Special thankyou to the following few who contributed tips, additions,
strategies, and moral support. Swiftshark, Squid Z, csneddon, Dsmooth, VanRaily
you guys rock thanks for the help. You all made my FAQ better than it was
before and that's saying something. :)

Also I'd like to include thanks to the following folks things for keeping me
motivated
for the 8 or so hours I put into this. First James Brown, (yes that James Brown
the
godfather of soul "Sex Machine" is a great song that never gets old plus you
can sing
to it too. Trent Reznor, what can't this man do with music always finding new
and
exciting thing to keep my ears a hopping keep em' coming Trent. (mmm...Doom 3,
plus
new NIN album coming soon, I am in heaven) The composer of the Einhander sound
track this music
has now helped me through two FAQ's now and hopefully many, many more to come.
Special Mention goes to Gary Jules and his cover of the Tears for Fears classic
"Mad World" I love this song. Curve for the excellent "Hell above Water". And
Talking Heads for "Burning Down the House" That's it...nothing else to see move
along.

Like I said above this is exclusive to GameFAQ's unless someone has a better
site than "CJayC" then it will reside there, but since I am not including
contact info it will remain exclusive to GameFAQ's until I deem otherwise. :b

Special Thanks to Jeff "CJayC" Veasey for hosting this FAQ and for running one
of the if not the best game information center on the net. The message boards
are another story. :p

And for the blatant use of his copyright info. Thanks. :)

VIII. Web Adresses for more information on Rygar/Contact Information
====================================================================

www.tecmo.com (They made it go check'em out and tell'em I want Ninja Gaiden for
PS2, also. :)

http://pages.sbcglobal.net/yonderboy/rygar (One of the guys on the board posted
his page, if you want it removed let me know, cool site btw, check out the
Pizza Armors)

www.vgmuseum.com (I am a contributor as well as a frequent guest to there zany
messageboards don't be afraid to stop by and say "HI")

and finally for the moment you've all been waiting for on my $#!^ list
today....

That honor today goes to: **(Drum Roll Please)**

National Console Support (@$$holes) >:(
www.nscx.com
I called them up yesterday and asked about special ordering some PS1 games and
the lady/girl who answered was not only rude and snippy she also called a
F.A.Q. a "FAK" file...umm ok. Anyway for a place that was suppose to have
excellent service and a polite staff they sure showed me wrong. SO I am making
it my new mission to spread the word that if you want import games go somewhere
else they don't deserve your money (Sad thing is I just bought Ikaruga a few
months ago and the tabs in the case were broken) >:( While I'm at it tell your
friends they suck as well and try one of these great import game stores
instead. The way they are going they are gearing up to replace Buy-Rite as the
online game retailer we hate the most.

http://www.videogamedepot.com (Highly Recommended $35 for Gigawing 2, no way,
sealed too btw) :)
http://tronixweb.com/
http://www.japanvideogames.com/

I am not getting anything for pimping these sites in my guide they are a
reference tool for helping others discover more about Rygar and Import games
they
are all worth your time to visit, otherwise I wouldn't have spent time listing
them in the FAQ. Enjoy and happy gaming. >:)

P.S. for those who have read this far I am putting in absolutely no, none,
nada, zip, zilch, zero contact information. If I think I need to abridge,
revise, review, remove information I will do at my own behest not any sooner
and will make a better (hopefully) version FAQ in the future.

**NOTE**
However I will start a topic up on the Rygar PS2 Gamefaq's board if anyone has
any additions, corrections ect., Look for me there I will check it for about 2
weeks (Ends Feb. 1st) after this the file (Ver. 1.3) gets posted on
www.gamefaqs.com, Cya there :)

Today is the day actually I'm two days late but I had a late contributor that
wanted to help so I extended the deadline by two days. :)

This document has been proofread (but not 100%)..sorry for typographical
errors, it's in
English so enjoy. :)

Thanks for reading.
