Hello, and welcome to my guide on the game, NHL 2002. This guide
is based on the Playstation 2 format. Firstly, I would like to say that
I do not include Version Histories due to the fact I like to type a
guide out all in one day. With that out of the way, this guide will let
you in on all the secrets of NHL 2002, including the different tasks
you can complete. Enjoy the guide. and remember, 'Be the Hero'.

Main Menu:
D-Pad [Up/Down] - Pick Item
D-Pad [Left/Right] - Toggle Teams
X Button/Start - Select Item/Next Screen
Triangle Button - Go Back
Player With Puck:
Triangle Button - Deke
Square Button - Shoot
Circle Button - Speed Burst
X Button - Pass
X Button - Saucer Pass [Hold X Briefly]
L1 Button - Spin Left
R1 Button - Spin Right
R2 Button - Change Line
Player Without Puck:
Triangle Button - Big Hit
Square Button - Poke Check
Circle Button - Speed Burst/Body Check
X Button - Change Player/Faceoff
Fighting:
Square Button - High Punch
X Button - Uppercut
Goalie with Puck:
Square Button - Clear Puck
X Button - Pass
Goalie without Puck:
Circle Button - Save Puck

Strategy [STRGY]

Player Symbols:
Target -
The target means that player is a sniper. This player has very fast
shots and they are very accurate. These players are very dangerous, so
watch out.
Hockey Stick -
The hockey stick means that player is a Big Shooter. They are the best
players to shoot a one timer with, and if you do a slapshot with this
player, it will be guaranteed to be over 90 Miles per Hour.
Hammer -
This player is a very hard hitter. Use the big hit [triangle] button
when you dont have the puck and this player will drop someone in a
snap.
'H' on a Shield-
This player is your key player to use. These players are heroes, and
will only be at hero status in the 3rd period if you are tied or
losing, or in the overtime period.
Types of Shots:
Wrist Shot -
Wrist shots are the basic shot in the game that requires no more than a
tap of the shoot [square] button.
Slapshot -
Slapshots are best preformed with a Big Shooter. This shot is very fast
and is done when you hold the shoot [square] button down for a couple
second and release.
Backhand -
This shot is the same as a wrist shot except your player shoots
backwards.
One Timers -
This is the shot you want to preform. A 'One Timer' is a shot that
consists of two players and a puck. The first player passes the puck to
the second, and a second players shoots the pass. This shot will go in
about 50% of the time, at least for me it does.

- Finish first in playoff GAA
- Score 20 goals with one player in a season
- Win 3 consecutive road games in a season
- Win the EA Sports trophy in season mode
- Win the All-Star game in season mode
- Win 1st in your conference in season mode

- Win 1st in your 16 team tournament pool
- Win the Bronze Medal in tournament mode
Level Three Tasks:
400 Beginner; 800 Easy; 1200 Medium; 1600 Difficult
- Score in the opening 30 seconds of any period
- With one player, get a goal, assist and a penalty
- Score on 3 shots in an OT shootout
- Complete 50% of your powerplays in a game
- Finish a game with an 80% penalty kill rate
- Win a playoff game in an OT shootout
- Win all your playoff road games
- Get a shutout in a playoff game
- Lead the league in goals for in playoffs
- Score 30 goals with one player in a season
- Win 5 consecutive road games in season
- Win 75% of your conference opponent games
- Win the Stanley Cup in season mode
- Win the Calder trophy in season mode
- Win the Hart Memorial trophy in season mode
- Win the Lady Byng trophy in season mode
- Win the Maurice Richard trophy in season mode
- Get 5 shutouts in a season
- Finish with a GAA of 2.00 or below in a season

Level Four Tasks
- Score a hat trick with 2 different players
- Score a SHG and GWG with same player
- Scire a SHG while being on a 5 on 3
- Score on all 5 penalty shots in a shootout
- Score on 1st shot of the game
- Finish 1st in playoff scoring
- Go undefeated in the playoffs
- Lead the league in fewest goals against in playoffs
- Win the Conn Smyth trophy in playoffs
- Get at least 1 point with all your players in 1 game
- Win the Norris trophy in season mode
- Win the Presidents' trophy in season mode
- Win the Selke trophy in season mode
- Lead the league in penalty minutes in season mode
- Get 1000 career assists with a created player
- Score 500 career goals with a created player
- Score 100 goals in 50 games with one player
- Win back to back Stanley Cups

- Beat Team Canada using Japan in tournament
