================
1) Introduction
================

So. Kingdom Hearts 2.

It's been a while, but Square-Enix have finally released the game. And what a
game it is. Having bought the game, I sat down, started playing it, and didn't
stop. Everything else suddenly became less important.
This will happen to you, too. Probably.

Be warned: This FAQ DOES contain spoilers. Just keep that in mind before you
start screaming at me for ruining that Vital Plot Point and destroying the
whole game. Although I really don't think the spoilers'll be THAT drastic.

By the way, this guide was mainly created for the Japanese version, through I
will be including English names. Except for Valor Form, which I will never
refer to Brave Form as for as long as I live.

Note: To see the Japanese names of the Forms and Abilities, you need to turn on
S-JIS encoding. This should be in the View menu of your browser.

So. Onwards!

3) Drive Basics
===============

By using the Drive command, Sora can fuse with another party member and unlock
extra power.

Using Drive
-----------

The Drive command is loated in your main Field menu, in the bottom slot. Select
it, then choose your Form.
In order, the Forms selectable (once unlocked) are:
Brave Form
Wisdom Form
Master Form
Final Form

If Goofy is not in your party, Brave Form will not be in the menu.
If Donald is not in your party, Wisdom Form will not be in the menu.
If you have less than three party members, Master Form and Final Form will not
be in the menu.

Alternatively, you can use the Auto abilities that Sora gains when the Forms
reach level 2. With these, the Form transformation appears as a Reaction
Command when Sora is in trouble.

Note that while in a Form, you cannot use Summons or Renkei (cooperation
abilities).

Forms carry over the Support Abilities that you have equipped.

Charging Drive Gauge
--------------------

To use each Drive Form, a minimum amount of full Drive Gauges is needed.
To build up this gauge, you must:
- Attack enemies
- Be attacked (if you have the ability Damage Drive)
- Collect Drive balls (yellow, released when enemies are defeated)

If your MP gauge is recharging (pink colour), your Drive bar glows a little and
the amount of it that is filled by the above is boosted.

Levelling Forms
---------------

The Drive Forms gain levels along with the character, although they
have different requirements. The maximum level for all Forms is 7, though these
are not all available from the beginning.

At the very beginning, you can only level Forms to level 3. This
restriction lifts to level 4 when you get Wisdom Form, level 5 when you get
Master Form, and then level 7 when you get Final Form.

All Forms have all Action Abilities at the beginning. As you level up, you gain
new levels in the Form Abilities, and gain new Support Abilities.

When each Form reaches level 3, its Form Ability is added to Sora's Abilities,
and continues to level up in both, though it remains at a higher level while in
the Form.

Equipping Keyblades
-------------------

For all Forms except Wisdom, Sora wields dual Keyblades. To customize which
Keyblade is added for each Form, go to the Items menu and choose Sora.
The top choices are:
Keyblade (red)
Brave (blue)
Master (blue)
Final (blue)

Keyblade determines your default Keyblade.
Brave detrmines the extra Keyblade in Brave Form.
Master determines the extra Keyblade in Master Form.
Final determines the extra Keyblade in Final Form.

Note that you cannot equip the same Keyblade to two different Forms, i.e. each
Form must have its own extra.

As returners from the original Kingdom Hearts, both the Oathkeeper and Oblivion
Keyblades have attached abilities that can help your forms. See the Extras
section for more details.

Form Layout
-----------

The layout of the Form sections goes like this:

Japanese Name: The Form name in Japanese text.
English Name: The Form name written in English.

Fusion: The character you Drive with to use the Form.
Colour: The colour of Sora's clothes when in the Form.

4) Brave Form
=============

Japanese Name: ブレイヴフォーム
English Name: Brave Form

Fusion: Goofy
Colour: Red

Gauge: 3
Keyblades: 2

EXP: 1 EXP for every hit you score while in Brave Form.
Menu Changes: None

Form Ability: High Jump

Location:
Mysterious Tower, when you get your new clothes.

Notes:
This Form is based mainly on attack. It provides a significant increase to your
attack power, along with a very minor increase to Magic (which is sort of
useless, since you can't use magic). The dual Keyblades allow for some very
speedy combos, and it has a very powerful combo finisher.
It is also the easiest Form to level up, and you should have no problem
reaching its maximum level.

Abilities
---------

- Action

5) Wisdom Form
===============

Japanese Name: ウィズダムフォーム
English Name: Wisdom Form

Fusion: Donald
Colour: Blue

Gauge: 3
Keyblades: 1

EXP: 1 EXP for every Heartless you defeat while in Wisdom Form.
Menu Changes: Attack changes to Shot.

Form Ability: Air Slide

Location:
You get it after beating Timeless River.

Notes:
This is a magic Form. MP Hastega is hugely useful for recharging your MP
quickly, and your Magic stat gains a significant increase at higher levels.
However, if you are a fighter and never use magic, this is absolutely not the
Form for you. The shots are extremely weak, and although you move around
quickly
there is no real defensive capability.
Due to the requirement for levelling up this Form and its non-attacking nature,
it is extremely difficult to level up, but you should level it up as Air Slide
is KH2's extremely useful answer to Dodge Roll.

Abilities
---------

- Action

ウィズダムショット/Wisdom Shot
Description: The connamd "Attack" becomes "Shot".

アクティブホバー/Active Hover
Description: You can perform actions while moving.

you cannot be hit.

Japanese Name: マスターフォーム
English Name: Master Form

Fusion: Any 2 party members
Colour: Yellow

Gauge: 4
Keyblades: 2

EXP: 1 EXP for every small Drive ball you pick up while in Master Form. Large
ones give 3 EXP.
Menu Changes: None, but all ground combos become air combos.

Form Ability: Air Dodge

Location:
You get it from Mickey during your first visit to Space Paranoids.

Notes:
This is a dual attack-magic Form. It has slightly less attack power than Brave
Form and slightly less magic power than Wisdom Form, but both are a significant
increase on your normal stats.
The combos are a lot longer than Brave Form's, and the finishers are much more
devastating. The Disaster finisher inflicts huge damage and is also a good way
to get large groups of enemies off your back.
While not required for the field map, Air Dodge (KH2's answer to Double Jump)
is great for battle. It reflects bullets and energy shots, and provides a lot
of needed range in your jumps.

Abilities
---------

==============
7) Final Form
==============

Japanese Name: ファイナルフォーム
English Name: Final Form

Fusion: Any 2 party members
Colour: Silver

Gauge: 5
Keyblades: 2

EXP: 1 EXP for every Nobody you defeat while in Final Form.
Menu Changes: None

Form Ability: Glide

Location:
See section 9.2.

Notes:
Wow.
Both Attack and Magic are significant increases over all of the other forms.
This Form, like Wisdom Form, glides over the ground and can glide in the air.
This provides great evasive capabilities and can also work to get you to
enemies faster.
The Keyblades, instead of being in your hands, are floating beside you. When
you attack, they move through the air. This adds range to your attacks. As you
jump and land, you automatically attack.
The main combo is extremely devastating and affects both air and ground.
However, the combo cannot be cancelled when it reaches the finishers, and this
can result in lack of control.
Otherwise, the form is extremely smooth and manoeuvrable, and deals a lot of
damage in both attack and magic.

8) Anti Form
=============

Japanese Name: アンチフォーム
English Name: Anti Form

Fusion: All party members
Colour: Black

Gauge: 3
Keyblades: 0

EXP: Anti Form doesn't level up.
Menu Changes: Only Attack is selectable. Reaction Commands are also disabled.

Form Ability: None

Location:
See section 9.1.

Notes:
The infamous Anti Form. Due to it not being in the Menu, there are no stats
listed.
In this Form, getting Drive balls decreases the Drive bar instead of increasing
it.
When in this form, Sora moves like a Shadow Heartless, and can move extremely
fast. His jumps have long range, and he can reach enemies very quickly.
His attack power has a massive drop, but this is made up for by the fact that
he can pull off extremely long, quick combos, with a decent combo finisher.
As Reaction Commands are disabled, pray you never accidentally Drive into this
in a boss battle that requires them.
As an added note, the Battle Report you get after the credits lists the amount
of times you Drove into Anti Form.

Abilities
---------

- Action

アンチ地上引っかき/Anti Snare

grabbing.

アンチ地上蹴り上げ/Anti Kick Up

knocks them into the air.
(Pressing the attack button at the point of turning away unleashes a Dark
spin.)

アンチ地上乱舞/Anti Wild Dance
Description: Ground combo finisher. Moves all around the enemy for an instant,
then swoops down on them.
(Pressing the attack button at the point of moving around the enemy unleashes a
Dark swooping attack.)

アンチ地上一閃/Anti Flash
Description: A combo finisher when many enemies are close. Stands for a second,
then moves in all directions indtantly, hitting 3-4 enemies and knocking them
into the air.

them ahead.

アンチ空中大車輪/Anti Air Great Wheel

spins at the enemy to kick 8 times, deals a heel strike from above, then hits
at the left.

アンチ空中乱舞/Anti Air Wild Dance

moving forward, then swoops down to attack.

==========
9) Extras
==========

-----------------------
9.1) Getting Anti Form
-----------------------

Sora has an Anti Count, which is not displayed on-screen.
As that Anti Count grows higher, there is more of a chance of Sora Driving into
Anti Form.

Anti Form is not activated when:
a) You are outside battle.
b) An ally is fainted.
c) You Drive into Final Form.

Things that affect Anti Count

- Driving into Brave, Wisdom or Master Forms adds 1 to your Anti Count.
- Driving into Final Form subtracts 10 from your Anti Count.
- Driving into Anti Form subtracts 4 from your Anti Count.
- Getting a new Form resets your Anti Count to zero.

Percentage Chance of Driving into Anti Form

Count -> Chance
0-4 -> 0%
5-9 -> 10%
10+ -> 25%

Battles that affect Anti Form activation

- Mandatory battles double your chances of getting it.
- XIII Order battles quadruple your chances of getting it.
- The battle with Xemnas (Armoured) multiplies the change of getting it by 10.
- Battles which introduce new allies or special battles (VS Beast, Hades, Pete,
Past Pete, Barbossa, etc.) bring the count to zero.

------------------------
9.2) Getting Final Form
------------------------

After fighting Roxas in The World That Never Was, the circumstances would have
originally would turn you into Anti Form now has a 25-100% chance of producing
Final Form.
When you Drive into Final Form, it becomes activated in your Drive menu.

You originally have a 25% chance of becoming Final Form instead of Anti Form.
When this does not happen, the chance rises to 50%. If this again does not
happen, the chance rises to 100%.

Note that your Drive Gauge must be 5 or above to get Final Form.

-----------------------------
9.3) Drive-Related Abilities
-----------------------------

Form Boost, which comes with the Oathkeeper Keyblade and Final Form levelling,
is a good ability to equip to a Form that you might be levelling up, or use
frequently, as it extends the amount of time you can stay in a particular Form.

フォームブースト/Form Boost
Description: The amount of time transformed is lengthened.

Drive Boost is an ability that comes on the Oblivion Keyblade and Sora also
learns naturally, which boosts the natural extra Drive filling during the time
that your MP gauge is pink.

ドライヴブースト/Drive Boost
Description: While MP is recharging, the Drive gauge refills more quickly.

-------------------
9.4) Refill Glitch
-------------------

Glitch #1
---------

1) Go to an area where your party members walk free, instead of following you.
2) Leave the area and use a Drive.
3) When you return to the area while still in Drive, you will be back to normal
form, and your Drive gauge will be back at its maximum!

Another good place to use Glitch #1 is in The Land of Dragons, at the save area
in the ruined camp by the cave. The firework boxes at the first level of the
snow mountain respawn every time you leave and provide large amounts of Drive
balls, so this is brilliant for levelling Master Form.

Glitch #2
---------

1) Go to an area near a Save Point.
2) Use a Drive.
3) Before the Drive runs out, use the Save Point to return to the World Map.
4) Re-enter the world, and your Drive Gauge will have returned to its maximum!

Glitch #3
---------

1) Go to Olympus Coliseum.
2) Enter one of the Cups.
3) Exit.
4) When you come out, your Drive bar will be fully refilled!

--------------------
9.5) Form Levelling
--------------------

- Brave Form -

It's difficult to recommend a good spot to level Brave Form, because it's so
damn easy to level it up.

At the start, when you get Brave Form for the first time, the first good place
to level it would be in The Land of Dragons. When you get to the point where
the Village is destroyed and your party's wandering around, head up to the
summit, beat up some Heartless, then go back and your Drive will be refilled by
the glitch. Then go down to the mountain and do the same, going back and forth.

Later, when you get to Halloween Town, Christmas Town becomes the best
levelling area. Just go in, beat up Heartless, then leave and it'll be
refilled.

Later, yet AGAIN, the area at Christmas Town where your party members wander
around stops being such an area. Now your best bet is The World That Never Was.
If you go down from the Proof of Existence room, a bunch of Assassins and
Snipers'll spawn. Go in, beat them around the place, then go back into Proof of
Existence and warp out. Lather, rinse, repeat.

- Wisdom Form -

Two great places to level this one.

For most of the game, Timeless River will be your best bet. When you leave
through the door to Disney Castle, your Drive bar refills. In this way, just go
into one of the four picture worlds and magic things into oblivion, then
quickly get out and back into Disney Castle before the gauge runs out.
(This one also applies to Brave Form.)

When you reach The World That Never Was, the very first area will be heaven for
Wisdom Form levelling. The (weak) Shadow Heartless will keep spawning over and
over in the area, and all you have to do is poof them with your magic and your
Shot attack. Then run back into the previous area and use the save point
glitch.

- Master Form -

The best place ever for this is The Land of Dragons.

Go to the Village, and up to the mountain. Clear away the enemies in Sora's
normal form, then head back into the village. Now Drive into Master Form and go
back up to the mountain. The enemies won't have respawned, so you can blow up
the carts and collect your Drive balls.
Now leave the area and immediately go back in. The carts are respawned again!
Keep going at this until your gauge hits the 0 bar, then use the save point
glitch at the Village.

Another place for this is as stated above for Wisdom Form, since the cars,
aeroplanes and Large Bodies spew out tons of Drive balls.

Keep in mind that the Drive balls still restore your Drive bar, which means
you'll be able to do this for much longer than you would otherwise.

- Final Form -

You'll want to go back to Twilight Town for this.

Go to the computer room, where the save point is. Now Drive into Final Form,
and exit upstairs. Destroy the Nobodies in this room (there's 10), then head
back downstairs and use the Save Point glitch.
When you've levelled up Final Form enough through this, your Drive gauge should
last long enough to let you travel upstairs, out into the lobby, across to the
other side and into the save point in the White Room to zap yourself out of the
world.

Note: I've got various suggestions that Magnega works well for quickly taking
out Nobodies here. I personally don't use it because it drains the Drive bar
like a leech, but if it works for you then go right ahead.

10) Frequently Asked Questions
===============================

Q. What do I do when I get to [point in game]/How do I beat [boss]?

Dude, this is a Form Guide. There's walkthroughs for the game, use them. Or ask
at the GameFAQs Kingdom Hearts II board, you're sure to get help there.

Q. Why won't X Form work?

Make sure you have the party member(s) you need to activate the Form in your
party, that you have the gauge up to the level the Form requires, and that
you've already unlocked the Form.

Q. You said the maximum is level 7, but I can't go past Level X?

Wait till you get more Forms, the maximum level goes up.

Q. You're wrong about Anti Form. It happens when you get hit during Drive!

No, it doesn't. The information about Anti Form comes from the KHII Ultimania,
which is 100% official.

Q. Are there any extra requirements for Final Form?

Nope. Everything is as I said above, which comes straight from the Ultimania.
It's amazing, I got about 60 emails in two days about this when the English
version came out, because I'd been too busy/lazy to update the guide.

Q. It's called Valor Form, not Brave Form!

That's not a question! But yeah, I can't stand the name Valor Form, so I kept
it as Brave Form throughout the guide. I did mention in the Brave Form section
that it's called Valor Form in the US, though I will never ever call it Valor
Form.

Q. Can I use this guide on my site?

No. Yes. Maybe. Email me and ask me. Don't do it without my permission, though.

***I still can't get Final Form! HELP ME!***

My god, I thought adding in that section'd STOP the countless emails.

To address the various problems:

- I didn't fight Roxas!
Yes you did. It was just a cutscene, not a proper battle. It was when you
reached the skyscraper in The World That Never Was.

- I didn't get Final Form when I was fighting Roxas!
Of course not, it was a cutscene battle. What I mean is that you can get it at
any point AFTER you fight Roxas.

- My Drive bar's only 5, I can't get it any higher!
That's my fault, I worded it badly. What I meant was that Final Form requires 5
full Drive bars, so if you have only 3 bars you can Drive till the cows come
home, but you still won't get Final Form.

- I understand that you can only get it in The World That Never Was, but...
No, you can get it in any world as long as you've beaten Roxas and have 5 full
bars.

- I keep Driving and all I'm getting is Anti Form! Help!
As above. You need 5 Drive bars.

- I'm not even getting Anti Form! How the hell do I get Final Form?
You forget, one of the requirements for Anti Form is that you're in battle when
you Drive. As I said above, you can Drive in an empty area till the cows come
home, and you'll get nada.

- What do all those numbers mean?
To put it very simply, just keep Driving. Yes, that's all. Keep Driving with 5
full bars, in areas populated by enemies. You'll get it sooner or later.
