a bug report, and current game update, the Blessed Helm has
been renamed Instilled Helm and has its own texture.
Unfortunately it looks just like a regular leather helm but
still offers an AC of 50. Also the SPLINTERED SHIELD bug
reported by Avarax was also fixed making it a MASTERSMITH'S
SHIELD with a normal shiled texture. It has great stats.

V 0.28 Added 16 new items from Maktar. Reformated FAQ so that 1
item is contained all on one line. Makes for a long, yet
cleaner, entry. Another graphical bug was found by Avarax.
Instead of a normal shield texture the SPLINTERED SHIELD

1.2 What Is This Guide For?
I have compiled this guide to help EQOA players find the best
items for their characters. Included are item stats and where
to find them (in town and in the field). I plan to frequently
update this FAQ as new items are found/added to the game. I
created this FAq by playing a Barbarian Warrior on the Hodstock
server. All basic (non-magical) items "found" category are
listed for Halas (items will be found in different areas in
different citys) but have the same stats no matter what city
they are found in. I will include other cities at a later
date.

1.3 How To Get Better Items!
1.3.1 Items Per Zone
You will find that most item types are geared toward a certain
Zone attribute. I started as a Barbarian Warrior in the arctic
city of Halas. The surrounding zones are covered with ice and
snow and inhabited with Freezebloods and Frosteyes. Naturally
most of the treasures you find will be winter/cold in nature
(like Arctic Tunics, Chilled Sandals, Icy Rings, etc.) I find
that 90% of the items found in a certain zone will be based on
the zones attributes with the other 10% being random items. And
although a Forst Ring in Halas and a Swamp ring in Fog Marsh will
both give the wearer a Str+5 bonus, thus the same ring, they
will have a different appearance when worn. You can really
customize you characters appearance this way. An Arctic Tunic
in Halas looks part leather and part metal which does a lot to
distinguish your character from all the other characters that
are wearing leather armors (everyone looks like a brown clad
barbarin clone. Ma Bararbarin really had a big litter :)
1.3.2 Items Per Class/Race
I find that you class (and sometimes your race) helps define what
type of drop you will get from a monster (other that the standard
animal body part). Warrior classes will find weapons and armor
most often with magic using classes finding support items (ie
rings and necklaces), with healers somewhere in between. Also
when in your home zone these drops will match the terrian like
above.
1.3.3 Items Per Character Level/Monster Level
I find that the monster con level will determine how fast you
will get a good drop. I find fighting whites will yeild a good
drop every 10-20 kills. Dark blues every 20-30 and light blues
rarely every drop good stuff. Fighting Yellows and red will
give you good drops every 5-10. These numbers are for "groups."
I have found that when soloing, somethimes the numbers are lower
and sometimes higher. A person would think that you would get
pretty drops from soloing due to the increased risk, but maybe
SOE wants to promote grouping. Your level doesn't matter here.
A white to a level 20 warrior and a white to a level 6 warrior
will still drop good treasures at the same rate, but the
treasures will just be better. Obviously a Freezeblood Elite
will drop better loot than a Feezeblood Raider!
1.3.4 Items Per Quest
Quest items are by far better than most dorps (as of 20th level).
They are much higher in AC and stat bonuses for armor and do more
damage for weapons. If possible, devote a little time in
finishing the quests, especially the 17th and 25th level armor
quests. I won't go into detail here and spoil them for you, but
there are quite a few out there. Warriro's will find some good
Soldier's items out there.
1.3.5 Drop-Happy Monsters (DHM)
Each zone seems to have one or two monsters that drop more often an
better items. In Freezeblood Village I noticed that the
Freezeblood Berserkers droped better tiems more frequently
(and fortunately there is an abundance of them, along with scouts).
In Shon-To Monastary it was Brown Bear Cubs. Once you get a few
levels (14-16 or so) these monsters become Blues so you can easily
rack up some good loot in no time!
1.3.6 Perfect Scenario for Good Drops.
Tog et good drops in a hurry form a party for 3 tanks and a
healer (or 2 tanks, a healer, and a wizard) and go to a camp
(preferable one that includes DHM in it. I find a Freezeblood
Camp in Freezeblood Village a good spot. Find something with lots
of Dark Blues and a few whites. Have the healer pull a monster
and let the tanks pound away. When that monster is near death
pull anothe. Keep them going (looting to respawn) until everyone
is filled with loot, magic runs out or weapons are near breaking.
At 19th level I leveled in 1 hour and everyone have at lest 6 new
items. Thats 4 levels and 24 items in an hour for the group, wOOt!!
(just an average for me). This works good for Skeleton Towers too,
especially if Frostbite is involved!

Weapons list Key:
Item = item name (ALL CAPS = Magical Item)
level = minimum level needed to weild
Dam = Damage item does
Att = Attack type (1 = 1 handed, 2 = 2 handed, s = slashing,
b = blugeoning, p = piercing)
Rng = Distance a ranged weapon can attack at
Equip = how many hands needed to equip (1 (primary or secondary)
or 2)
Dur = durability
HP = items Hit Points before breaking. Each successful hit on
an opponent will lower this number. Repair at blacksmith
to raise this number to full. Repairing requires Tunar
Race = which races can equip item (B=barbarian, De=Dark elf,
Dw=dwarf, E=elf, Er=Erudite, G=Gnome Hf=halfling,
Hm=Human, T=troll)
Class = Which calsses can equip item (B=bard, C=cleric, D=druid,
E=enchanter, Mg = magician, Mk=monk, N=necromancer,
P=paladin, Ra=ranger, Rg=rogue, Sk=Shadow Knight,
Sh=Shaman, Wa=arrior, Wz=wizard)
Bonus = Bonus to stats that the item gives when equipped
Trade = can item be traded or sold
Found = what area/monster/quest holds item
