2) Background

In his youth, Gan Ning was brave and strong; however he did not have any rules and used
his skills for assassination and plunder. He originally led a group of youths and terrorized
small towns. In his twenties however, Gan Ning started reading the classical literature
from Zhou dynasty intellectuals.
When Gan Ning was living in Nanyang, he sought to serve Liu Biao, but he was not
granted an audience. Instead he went to serve Huang Zu, but was never granted a position
of importance.
When Sun Quan was attacking Huang Zu, Gan Ning killed Sun Quan's commander Ling
Cao with an arrow attack and was able to hold off Sun Quan's attack. However, the old
Huang Zu did not recognize Xingba's actions and treated him just as badly as before.
Seeking the advice of Su Fei, Gan Ning devised a plot to leave Huang Zu and join Sun
Quan.
Gan Ning was recommended to Sun Quan's service by Lu Meng and Zhou Yu, and was
treated very well. On Gan Ning's advice, Sun Quan marched west again to destroy Huang
Zu.
Xingba then followed Zhou Yu in the attack on Wulin and Nanjun, and scored many
important victories. For this, he was promoted to General Who Oppresses the Enemy
with Ferocity.
He later helped Lu Su guard Yiyang against the attack from Guan Yu. When Yunchang
heard of Xingba's approach, he turned away from the attacked and would not cross the
river to Yiyang. Sun Quan was greatly impressed with Gan Ning and appointed him as
Grand Administrator of Xiling and Commander of Yangxin and Xiazhi County.
Xingba followed Sun Quan on the attacks on Wan and He Fei. When Zhang Liao
initiated a surprise raid on the retreating Wu forces, Gan Ning never wavered, and
together with Ling Tong defended his troops with courage
Gan Ning was broad-minded, valorous and skilled in strategy. He hated wealth and
respected men of ability. His sergeants admired him greatly for always being the first to
attack ahead of all others, and they devoted their lives to serving him.
When Xingba died, Sun Quan felt a deep regret for his loss and wept bitterly.

3) Stats Analysis
-This is a starting level Gan Ning-
Life: He has alright life. It's not the highest, but still good.
Musou: Pretty low. But I guess it's alright cuz he has a crazy musou
attack.
Attack: Pretty high for starting out.
Defense: Like all people with power, his defense takes a hit.
Speed: He is a pretty fast guy. Better then average.
Reach: Not the greatest reach out there.
Mounted Attack: Side to side attacks like almost everyone.
Overall: Overall I give him a B. Grade-wise.
Crowd Clearing: He's a pretty good crowd clearer if you use him right.
Dueling: Depends on how good you are with him I guess.

4) Charge Moves
Triangle - Does a grab move with his sword. Tosses enemy into air and
does one kick. He will do 2 if you press triangle again.
Square, Triangle - Does and uppercut with sword.
Square, Square, Triangle - Does a little thing that looks like he's
spinning the sword, only he goes up, down, up, down,and so on. Then he
ends with a slash and brings his sword behind him.
Square, Square, Square, Triangle - Does a 360 degree spin with his
sword.
Square, Square, Square, Square, Triangle - Starts the same as S,T. Ony
he jumps into the air and knocks enemy back down with his sword.
Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Triangle - Does a little move
and what appears to be water explodes around him.
Musou: He holds his sword at his side and runs...VERY FAST! This one is
hard to use if you haven't used Gan Ning before. Ends with a 360 spin
with sword
True Musou: Same as musou, only it ends with 3 spins. Fire element
added.

5) Unlocking
Gan Ning starts out selectable.

6) 10th Level Weapon Acquisition
Name: Sea Master
Attack: +56
Stage: Gan Ning's Legend
Requirements: Get 80 KOs in under 5 minutes.

7) 11th Level Weapon Acquisition
Name: Leviathan
Attack: +60
Add-on Items: Lvl 20 Speed Scroll, Lvl 11 Horned Helm, Lvl 16 Seven
Star Sash, Lvl 19 Herbal Remedy
Stage: Gan Ning's Legend
Requirements: Kill Li Dian immediately. Close bottom left gate. Kill
Yue Jin before he regroups his men. This happens around 8 minutes left.
Keep killing until Cao Xiu ambush. Try to have about 90 kills, if you
can't that is ok. This will bring up the Damage has been dealt to Wei
message a 2nd time. Cao Xiu arrives at about 4:25 left. Kill him
immediately. Keep killing until Zhang Liao appears. He appear at about
2:30 left. You'll get a message to find an exit. Do not do this yet.
Keep killing til about 140-150 kills. You'll get a 3rd damage has been
dealt to Wei. And the weapon acquired message. You will have little
time to find the exit. SO SAVE! And if you don't find it, just reload
and keep trying. Good Luck!

8) Costumes
If these are incorrect, please tell me so I can correct it. I don't
used the 2nd, 4th, or 6th costumes so I'm not sure what they look like
haha!
1) His main costume you start with. Vest with bells around neck.
2) Same as 1st only different colors. Blondish-white hair, red vest, and
white pants.
3) Same as 1st. Only bells are on his waist.
4) Same as 2nd. Only bells are on his waist.
5) His DW3 costume. He doesn't have his vest this time.
6) Same as 5th. Only blue pants and I BELIEVE it is blondish like the 2nd
and 4th costumes.

9) Orbs Good for the Character
This is my opinion only. Feel free to use whatever you like.
Vorpal- Going along with his already high power. It can be very
devastating against enemies.
Ice- I prefer this, because it's useful to freeze people. This allows
you to attack them without them attacking you. I usually use his
S,S,S,T for this.

10) Recommended Equipment
Saddle: I prefer Red Hare. Only because I dislike the swinging his
sword on both sides attack. However, you may use what you like.
Orb: Vorpal or Ice
Items: Tiger Amulet- Only adds to his high power.
Tortoise Amulet- Hey, you can always use a higher Def. I think it is a
must with all characters.
Peacock Urn- Health is a pretty important aspect, so use this.
Speed Scroll- He already has a high speed, but this is still a good
item.
I also have not tried the new items yet. So, I do not know if they are
better then I've selected. I will keep this FAQ updated though.

11) Gan Ning's Legend Stage
Map it's part of: I believe it's Yi Ling.
Victory-
Defeat- Player is slain or all your troops die.
Walkthrough:
This is pretty much self explanatory. Just keep killing and killing and
killing. Like Lu Bu's... sorta. Anyway, you gotta kill the officers.
Zhang Liao doesn't have to be killed though. Just find the exit when
Zhang Liao appears and you win! That's pretty much it!
