In this FAQ you will find all 225 officers from Dynasty
Tactics 2, along with their skills. As I get more
information, I will update the FAQ. If you know of any

Officer List
----------------------
Bao Long
An officer under Zhao Fan and Marshal of Gui Yang. He is
said to have killed two tigers with his bow. He fakes
defecting to Zhao Yun, who had attacked Gui Yang, but is
beheaded by Zhao Yun who was not fooled.
Bu Zhi
A Minister of Wu. In the invasion of Jing, he accurately
predicts both Guan Yu and Cao Ren's movements and is able to
guide Wu to victory. When Sun Quan ascends to the Imperial
Throne, he is promoted. Later, he is made Prime Minister.

Cai Mao
An officer under Liu Biao. Comes from a noble family in
Jing. Is the younger brother of Liu Biao's second wife. His
plot to assassinate Liu Bei in order to make Liu Zong
successor ends in failure. He excels as a naval commander.
Cao Bao
An officer of Tao Qian. When Cao Cao invaded Xu, he duels
with Xiahou Dun, but is forced to retreat due to heavy
winds. He later joins Liu Bei, but is killed in a fight with
Zhang Fei.
Cao Cao
The Wei ruler. Skilled in art and warfare, he wrote many
books on strategy and tactics. In the Yellow Turban
Rebellion, he distinguished himself on the field of battle.
After Dong Zhuo's death, he established the foundation for
the Wei Empire.
Cao Hong
A Wei officer and Cao Cao's cousin. Together with Cao Ren,
he participated in the raising of Cao Cao's army. He was a
core member of the Wei forces. After Cao Pi ascended to the
throne, he worked his way up to Chief General of the Guard
and Cavalry.
Cao Pi
The first Emperor of Wei and Cao Cao's second son. After
assuming control of the throne, he forced the Emperor to
step down, effectively stealing the crown. He attacked both
Shu and Wu with little success, and decided to focus on
internal politics.
Cao Ren
A Wei officer. Cao Cao's brother, he was fluent in numerous
martial arts, especially horse riding and archery. Following
the Battle of Chi Bi, he served as the defender of the Jing
Province. He also assumed Cao Pi's role as commander of the
cavalry.
Cao Xiu
A Wei officer and nephew of Cao Cao. A brilliant archer, he
serves Cao Pi and Cao Rui following the death of Cao Cao. He
is fooled by Zhou Fang's false defection and loses many
troops. His health fails due to shame and he dies.
Cao Zhang
Cao Cao's third son. A brave said to have killed wild beasts
with his bare hands. Was given the nickname,"The Yellow
Beard." He saved his father Cao Cao from his pursuers during
the assault on Han Zhong.
Cao Zhen
Officer of Wei and Cao Cao's nephew. Left in charge by Cao
Pi. He leads the army against Zhuge Liang's campaign and is
soundly defeated. He is taunted in a letter and dies of
indignation.
Chen Deng
Son of Chen Gui. He joins Liu Bei, when he is left in charge
of the Xu territories by Tao Qian. He surrenders after Liu
Bei's loss to Cao Cao and is made Prefect.
Chen Gong
An officer of the Later Han. He joins with Cao Cao after his
failed attempt on Dong Zhuo, but leaves him after witnessing
Cao Cao's methods. He joins Lu Bu as strategist. He is taken
captive and requests death.
Chen Gui
Famous scholar of Xu and father of Chen Deng. He betrays Lu
Bu out of concern for the future of his country and
corresponds with Cao Cao. Together with his son, he
contributes to the victory of Cao Cao and Liu Bei.
Chen Jiao
He and Cao Ren attempt to protect southern Jing, but fall
prey to Zhuge Liang's plan. Later, as a minister of Wei, he
helps Cao Pi take the throne. He rises to the position of
Minister of the Interior during Cao Pi's reign.
Chen Lin
A famous scholar and of the "Seven of Jian An." He is
employed by Yuan Shao and drafts the call to arms against
Cao Cao. He is later taken prisoner by Cao Cao, but
unwilling to lose his talent, Cao Cao presses him into
service.
Chen Qun
A minister of Wei. He enacted the "Nine Official Rank Laws,"
that became the foundation of the Wei government and kept
the administration running smoothly. Upon the death of Cao
Pi, he, Sima Yi, Cao Zhen, and others help support Cao Rui.
Chen Wu
An officer of Wu. A beast of a man, his face was yellow and
his eyes red. He is the fourth general at Chi Bi. At Ru Xu,
he is taken captive by Pang De.
Chen Zen
A Shu vassal. While under Yuan Shao, he met Liu Bei, who was
serving Yuan Shao. He later delivers a letter for Liu Bei to
Guan Yu. After Liu Bei is made ruler of the Jing Province,
he is promoted.
Cheng Pu
An officer of Wu. A master with his Serpent Spear, he served
three generations of the Sun family. He was often referred
to as "Master Cheng" by the other generals. He served at the
Battle of Chi Bi, teaming with Zhou Yu to defeat Cao Cao at
Jiang Shang.
Cheng Yin
One of the Eight Riders of Han Sui. Together with Ma Chao's
army, he forces the surrender of Chang An. Later, he fights
with Cao Cao at Wei Nan, but is killed along with his
companion, Zhang Heng.
Cheng Yu
A servant of Cao Cao, he his former name was Li. He changed
his name after having a dream where he was holding up the
sun. A large man with a strong constitution, he serves Cao
Cao at Xun Yu's request, contributing as a strategist.
Chunyu Qiong
An officer under Yuan Shao. Originally one of the 8
officials of Xi Yuan. At the Battle of Guan Du, he guarded
the supply depot, but after drinking too much wine, was too
drunk to defend it when attacked by Cao Cao. Furious, Yuan
Shao has him killed.

Deng Ai
A Wei officer. A talented officer discovered by Sima Yi, he
was active in the Shu Campaign. He teamed up with Zhong Hui
to destroy Shu, but later fought with him. Due to Zhong
Hui's accusations, he is captured and while being escorted
away, is assassinated.
Deng Zhi
A minister of Wei. He makes numerous trips between Shu and
Wu after Liu Bei's death and is successful in bringing about
an alliance between the two. With Zhao Yun, he leads the
vanguard during the Northern Campaign. Famous for his wisdom
and courage.
Dian Wei
A giant of a man often referred to as pure evil. Served as
Cao Cao's personal bodyguard and was constantly by his side.
After Zhang Xiu's night attack on Wan Castle, he alone stood
before the enemy troops, giving his life so that Cao Cao
could escape.
Ding Feng
A Wu officer who served from the time of Sun Quan. In his
first battle, he showed excellent skill, including the
defeat of Zhang Liao. Serving Wu for more than 70 years, he
was promoted as high as Commander General
Dong He
A minister of Liu Bei. Originally a follower of Liu Zhang,
he urges that Liu Zhang request assistance from Zhang Lu.
After Liu Bei's acquisition of Shu, he is made a commander.
Dong Xi
A Wu officer. He was responsible for introducing the famous
doctor Hua Tuo to Sun Ce. He fights well in the defense of
Ruan Xu, but due to strong winds, his boat is capsized and
he drowns. His corpse was later buried by Sun Quan.
Dong Yun
A minister of Shu. He, Zhuge Liang, Fei Yi, and Jiang Wan
formed the "Four Heads". While he lived, Huang Hao was
restrained in what he could do. He was known to be level-
headed and have a straightforward nature. He was the
guardian of Shu's Yellow Gate.
Dong Zhao
A minister of Wei. He recommends moving the capital to Xu
Chang. He drafts a document that recommends Cao Cao take the
throne. By the time of Cao Rui, he had become Minister of
the Interior.

Emperor
Emperor Xiao, the final monarch of the Later Han. Placed on
the throne by Dong Zhuo at the age of 9, he was subsequently
controlled by Cao Cao. He is forced to abdicate in favor of
the Wei Ruler Cao Pi.

Fa Zheng
A vassal of Shu and former servant of Liu Zhang. Together
with Zhang Song, he planned Liu Bei's Shu Campaign.
Excelling in strategy, he served as an advisor in the attack
on Han Zhong. It is said that if Fa Zheng had been alive, Yi
Ling never would have fallen.
Fei Shi
A minister of Shu. He is originally a follower of Liu Zhang.
He admonished Guan Yu for complaining about Huang Zhong
being given an equivalent rank. In the first Northern
Campaign, he is left at the capital with Xi Zheng as a
personal secretary.
Fei Yi
A minister of Shu. He and Jiang Wan were left in charge of
Shu during the Northern Campaign. Following the death of
Zhuge Liang he advances in rank and together with Jiang Wan,
oversees Shu's administration.
Fei Zhan
An Overlord of the Shan Yue, he is based in Dan Yang. He is
friendly with Wei, but is attacked and scattered by Lu Xun.
Feng Ji
A minister of Yuan Shao. He was called courageous but
unfeeling by Xun Yu. He was very brash and drove Tian Feng
to commit suicide. Upon Yuan Shao's death, he supported Yuan
Shang as the rightful heir.

Gan Ning
A Wu officer and former pirate, he served both Liu Biao and
Huang Zu. After being passed over for promotion, he took his
services to Sun Quan, who welcomed him to Wu at the
recommendation of Zhou Yu and Lu Su. He later fought at Chi
Bi and in the campaign against Wei.
Gao Lan
An officer under Yuan Shao. At the Battle of Guan Du, he
fought with the mighty Xu Zhu of Cao Cao's army. He later
goes to serve Cao Cao with his companion, Zhang He. He
attacked Liu Bei at Ru Nan, killing Liu Pi.
Gao Shun
An officer under Lu Bu. A brave general who was known for
his ability to break any enemy formation. After Lu Bu is
defeated, he is brought before Cao Cao, but refuses to plead
for his life and dies honorably.
Gong Zhi
He is originally a minister of Jin Xuan, Prefect of Wu Ling.
When Zhang Fei attacks, he advises surrender and is ignored.
After Jin Xuan's defeat, he kills Jin and delivers both
Jin's head and the city's surrender to Zhang Fei. He is
later appointed Prefect of Wu Ling.
Gongsun Zan
Prefect of Bei Ping. Having studied with Liu Bei under Lu
Zhi, he led an elite army made up of troops from Bai Ma,
earning him the nickname, the "General of Bai Ma." He
excelled in the Yellow Turban campaign, but was later
defeated by Yuan Shao.
Gu Yong
A minister of Wu and student of Cai Yong. He serves Sun Quan
at Zhang Hong's recommendation and becomes Prime Minister
when Sun Quan declares himself Emperor. It is said that he
didn't talk much and never drank.
Guan Lu
An expert in astrology and the Book of Jing, he could
foresee people's futures. He performs divination for Cao Cao
and correctly predicts Shu's attack, the deaths of Xiahou
Yuan and Lu Su, and the burning of Xu Chang.
Guan Ping
An officer under Liu Bei. The second son of Guan Ding, he
was adopted by Guan Yu. After Liu Bei entered Shu, he and
his father protected the Jing Province. Captured by Wu at
Mai Castle, he suffered the same fate as Guan Yu.
Guan Suo
A Shu officer and Guan Yu's third son. After the fall of
Jing, he was severely wounded and fled to Bao Jia Zhuang to
recover. During the Southern Campaign, he returns to Shu and
spearheads their attack, capturing Meng Huo in the process.
Guan Xing
A Shu general and Guan Yu's second son. He joined Liu Bei in
the fight against Wu, getting vengeance for his father's
death. He made a pact of brotherhood with Zhang Fei's son,
Zhang Bao, and they fought bravely during the battles in the
North.
Guan Yu
A Shu officer. Sworn brother of Liu Bei and Zhang Fei, he is
the leader of the Five Tigers and helped form the Shu
Kingdom. With his strong sense of bravery, he has been
labeled as "a match for 10,000 men." Guan Yu is also known
for his beautiful beard.
Guo Huai
An officer of Wei under Cao Zhen and Sima Yi. He serves as
Liutenant Governor of Yong and suppresses Xiahou Ba's
rebellion. He rescues Sima Zhao at Mt. Tie Long.
Guo Jia
A minster of Cao Cao. He joins Cao Cao upon Xun Yu's
recommendation. His knowledge and accurate appraisals won
him Cao Cao's trust. After He Bei, he falls ill and dies.
Following the loss at Chi Bi, Cao Cao is said to have
lamented, "If only Guo Jia had been with us..."
Guo Si
An officer under Dong Zhuo. After Dong Zhuo's death, he
attacked Chang An on Jia Xu's advice. Killing Wang Yun, he
seized control of the Imperial Court with the help of Li
Jue. He later became a bandit, and was killed by his servant
Wu Xi.
Guo Tu
An aide to Yuan Shao. At the Battle of Guan Du, he
recommends an attack on Cao Cao which leads to defeat. After
the death of Yuan Shao, he becomes an aide to Yuan Tan.

Han Dang
A Wu officer and veteran general who served three
generations of the Sun family. He fought in many battles,
including the Battle of Chi Bi, the campaign against Guan
Yu, and the Battle of Yi Ling. At Chi Bi, he rescued Huang
Gai, who had fallen overboard after being hit.
Han Hao
A Wei officer. He was serving under Yuan Shu, but joined Cao
Cao after being invited by Xiahou Dun. He advised Cao Cao on
the importance of the military helping people in the fields.
In the story, he is portrayed as the younger brother of the
Chang Sha Prefect, Han Xuan.
Han Song
A strategist under Liu Biao. He goes to Xu Chang to discover
Cao Cao's plans. He was called before the Imperial Court and
made Prefect of Ling Ling. Upon his return, he is thrown in
jail by an angered Liu Biao.
Han Sui
The ruler of the Xi Province. After his stepbrother Ma Teng
is killed by Cao Cao, he enlists Teng's son Ma Chao to
served him. However, when later tempted to join Cao Cao, his
left arm is cut off by the enraged Ma Chao.
Han Xuan
Prefect of Chang Sha. He sentenced Huang Zhong to death on
suspicion of treason after Huang Zhong failed to attack Guan
Yu. However, he is killed by Wei Yan before he can carry the
sentence out. Extremely short tempered.
Hao Zhao
An officer of Wei. Through Sima Yi's recommendation, he is
given Chen Cang Castle to defend. A genius at defensive
warfare, he held off Zhuge Liang's 300,000 troops for over
20 days with just 3,000 men.
Hou Cheng
An officer under Lu Bu. He is punished for breaking
restrictions on drinking. He, Wei Xu and Song Xian decide to
switch sides. He steals Red Hare and surrenders to Cao Cao.
Hu Ban
Advisor to Wang Zhi. He is ordered to kill Guan Yu, who had
left to find Liu Bei, but ignores orders and lets him go. He
later journeys to Jing and swears loyalty to Liu Bei.
Hu Che-Er
Considered the greatest warrior of the Zhang Xiu army. Of
foreign (non-Chinese) origin. During the attack on Cao Cao
at Wan Castle, he stole Dian Wei's weapon, insuring the
success of the surprise attack.
Hua Tuo
The legendary doctor known for his amazing healing powers.
Said to have used anesthetics during surgery. He is jailed
on suspicion of assassinating Cao Cao and dies in prison. He
entrusts his medical journal to a jailer, but it is
destroyed in a fire.
Hua Xin
A strategist under Cao Cao. He left his position as Minister
to the Han and joined Sun Ce and then Cao Cao. In the story,
he threatens the Emperor into abdicating and then raises Cao
Pi to the throne. However, history portrays him completely
different.
Huang Gai
An Wu officer and master of the iron staff. At the Battle of
Chi Bi, he and Zhou Yu hatch a brilliant plan. After being
"attacked" by Zhou Yu, Huang Gai surrendered to Cao Cao,
where he then set fire to the Wei fleet, leading to a great
victory for Wu.
Huang Quan
An officer who served Shu and Wei. In the assault on Wu, he
controlled the Shu fleet for Liu Bei, but upon its defeat,
he was isolated and reluctantly joined Wei. Even after his
surrender, his allegiance to Liu Bei did not change.
Huang Zhong
A Shu officer. A master with a bow. He served both Liu Biao
and Han Xuan and later joined Liu Bei. He accompanied Liu
Bei during his ascension to the throne of Han Zhong, and was
appointed to the Five Tigers.
Huang Zu
Officer of Liu Biao. Defends Jiang Xia, but is defeated by
Sun Jian. He blames the Gan Ning for the defeat, causing Gan
Ning to flee to Wu. He is later killed by that same Gan
Ning, who had become a Wu officer.
Huo Jun
An officer under Liu Biao and father of Shu's Huo Yi. He
serves Liu Bei after the latter gainns control of the Jing
territory. With Meng Da, he is given the charge of defending
the Jia Meng to Gate.

Ji Ling
An officer under Yuan Shu and wielder of the "Spear of
Evil". When Liu Bei attacks, he holds his own against Guan
Yu. Under orders from Yuan Shu, he later attacks Liu Bei,
but is forced into a treaty by Lu Bu.
Jia Kui
A vassal of Wei. He admonishes Cao Zhang for quarreling with
his brother Cao Pi over succession to the throne. In the
battle against Wu, he joins Cao Xiu as strategist and sees
through Zhou Fang's fake defection.
Jia Xu
A Wei vassal. Hw originally served under Li Jue, but unhappy
with his position, left for Zhang Xiu. There, he was a
brilliant tactician and gained numerous victories over Cao
Cao. He later joined Cao Cao with Zhang Xiu and received a
promotion.
Jian Yong
A vassal of Shu from the same village as Liu Bei. Extremely
open-minded, he is with Liu Bei from the beginning and
serves as an envoy and strategist. He is given a high rank
after the formation of Shu.
Jiang Qin
A Wu officer. He received high praise together with Zhou Tai
while under Sun Ce. During the Southern campaign, he led the
invasion, but suffered a great defeat and was nearly
executed. In the battle against Guan Yu, he controlled the
naval forces and surrounded him.
Jiang Wan
A minister of Shu. A follower of Liu Bei from the time in
Jing, he excelled at politics. He is entrusted with the
rearguard of the Northern Campaign. Following Zhuge Liang's
death he controls Shu government.
Jiang Wei
An officer of Shu. Once of Wei, he was cast out due to a
plot of Zhuge Liang's and joined Shu. He idolized Zhuge
Liang, and was treated as a successor. After his mentor's
death, he vowed to fulfill Zhuge Liang's ambition, and
continued the attack against the North.
Jin Xuan
The Prefect of Wu Ling. When Zhang Fei attacked his city, he
ignored the counsel of Gong Zhi, and went out to challenge
him. He was soundly defeated and retreated to his castle,
only to find it closed to him. He was killed by an arrow
from Gong Zhi.
Ju Shou
A vassal of Yuan Shao. He often advised to strike Cao Cao,
but was ignored and thrown in jail. After Yuan Shao's
defeat, he is advised to surrender to Cao Cao, but he
refuses and is killed during his attempt to escape.

Kan Ze
A strategist under Sun Quan. He assists Huang Gai and Zhou
Yu in their schemes. He personally goes to Cao Cao as an
emissary, and lays the seeds for the plan's success. He
recommends a young Lu Xun as the one to oppose the Shu
invasion.
Kong Rong
Prefect of Bei Hai during the Later Han and a descendant of
Confucius. He joins the alliance against Dong Zhuo and later
serves Cao Cao, but is killed when he opposes the campaign
against Liu Bei.
Kuai Liang
A vassal of Liu Biao and older brother of Kuai Yue. He
served as an advisor to Liu Biao. When Sun Jian attacked
Jing, he told Lu Gong the plan that enabled them to trap and
kill Sun Jian.
Kuai Yue
A minister of Liu Biao and younger brother to Kuai Liang. He
counseled Liu Zong, who succeeded Liu Biao, to surrender to
Cao Cao. Cao Cao paid him high praise. "I'm happier to have
obtained Kuai Yue than all of Jing."

Lei Bo
Lei Bo An officer under Yuan Shu. When Yuan Shu declares
himself Emperor he leaves him and goes with Chen Lan to Mt.
Song to join a group of bandits. He later attacks a fleeing
Yuan Shu and steals all of his belongings.
Lei Tong
An officer under Liu Zhang. He fought against Shu, but was
surrounded and forced to surrender. During the defense of Ba
Shi, he fights well against Wei's Zhang He, but his escape
route is cut off and he is killed in battle.
Li Dian
A veteran general under Cao Cao. A lover of learning, he has
a very cool and careful personality. He has tempered his
colleagues on numerous occasions. Together with Zhang Liao
and Yue Jin, he served in the defense of He Fei.
Li Hui
A Shu vassal. Sensing Liu Zhang's defeat, he surrendered to
Liu Bei. He also persuaded Ma Chao, who had come to aid Liu
Zhang, to join Liu Bei. He served in both the Northern and
Southern campaigns.
Li Jue
An officer under Dong Zhuo. After Dong Zhuo's death, he
kills Wang Yun and takes Emperor Xiao, assuming control of
the government. A plot by Yang Biao causes him to quarrel
with Guo Si, Leading to his own demise.
Li Yan
Officer of Shu. Formerly an officer of Liu Zhang, he joined
Liu Bei in Shu. Zhuge Liang claimed this officer to be on
par with Lu Xun. However, he fails with the supplies during
the Northern Campaign and flees.
Liao Hua
A Shu officer and former Yellow Turban rebel. During Guan
Yu's flight from Wei, he asked to be Guan Yu's servant, but
was refused. He later went on to serve and fight for Liu
Bei. He lived to see Shu from its birth to its demise.
Ling Tong
A Wu general and the son of Ling Cao. Upon joining Wu, he
tries to seek vengeance for his father on Gan Ning and is
reproached by Lu Meng and Sun Quan. Later, his life is saved
by Gan Ning, upon which he makes peace and swears an oath of
friendship.
Liu Ba
A minister of Shu. He is originally Liu Zhang's advisor. Out
of loyalty to Liu Zhang, he does not immediately serve Liu
Bei. But after Liu Bei personally visits him, he gives in.
He also joins the Northern Campaign.
Liu Bei
The first Emperor of Shu. With his sworn brothers, Guan Yu
and Zhang Fei, he fought the Yellow Turbans. In time, he
establishes the Shu Kingdom, signifying the beginning of
the Three Kingdoms era. His aim is to restore the Han
Dynasty and bring peace to the land.
Liu Biao
Governor of Jing and one of the eight geniuses of Jiang Xia.
He led Jing to a time of peace, but due to his indecisive
nature, he missed out on numerous opportunities to unify the
land.
Liu Du
Prefect of Ling Ling during the Later Han. He sends his son,
Liu Xian, and Xingdao Rong to stop Liu Bei's forces. He
surrenders after Liu Xian is defeated. He is left as Prefect
of Ling Ling by Liu Bei.
Liu Feng
Liu Bei's adopted son. He serves in the defense of Chang
Yang, but refuses Guan Yu's request for reinforcement. As a
result, Guan Yu and his son are killed. Enraged, Liu Bei has
him executed at Cheng Du.
Liu Qi
Liu Biao's oldest son. His stepmother tries to kill him so
that his younger brother can succeed to the throne, but he
receives advice from Zhuge Liang which allows him to escape
from danger. He later went on to be the Prefect of Jing.
Liu Xian
Prefect of Ling Ling and son to Liu Du. He fights with Liu
Bei's forces but is taken captive by Zhang Fei. He is
released on the provision that he convince his father to
surrender. He fulfills his promise and is forgiven. He then
serves Liu Bei.
Liu Ye
A minister of Wei. He serves at Guo Jia's recommendation. He
thought of using catapults against Yuan Shao and drove off
enemy spear attacks. During his service to three generations
of the Cao Family, he is credited with a number of
successful ideas.
Liu Yong
The Lieutenant Governor of Yang. From the same homeland as
Taishi Ci, he enlists his service, but is unable to use him
properly. He is invaded by Sun Ce and defeated, fleeing to
Yu Zhang.
Liu Zhang
Governor of Yi for the Later Han and son of Liu Yan. In
preparation for an invasion by Zhang Lu, he invites Jing's
Liu Bei to join him. However, his people, in search of a
strong leader, encourage Liu Bei to invade Cheng Du, forcing
him to resign.
Liu Zong
Second son of Liu Biao. At the urging of Cai Mao he becomes
the successor to his father. He surrenders to Cao Cao and is
made Lieutenant Governor of Qing. However, on his way to
Qing, he is murdered by some of Cao Cao's followers.
Lu Bu
The mighty Lu Bu. Skilled in all the martial arts. It was
often said, "Among men, Lu Bu... Among horse, Red Hare..." Loyal
only to himself, he cut down his own stepfather, Ding Yuan,
and joined Dong Zhuo, only to later betray him as well.
Lu Fan
A minister of Wu. He is a strategist for Yuan Shu, but
leaves to serve Sun Ce. He proposes the plan to marry Sun
Quan's sister to Liu Bei and then serves as the emissary
between them.
Lu Ji
A minister of Wu related to Lu Xun. He is adept at fortune-
telling and history. On a visit to Yuan Shu while still
young, he is said to have hidden an orange in his shirt to
take back to his mother.
Lu Kuang
An officer under Yuan Shang and brother to Lu Xiang. He is
made an officer after pledging loyalty to Yuan Tan. However,
he later switches allegiance to Cao Cao. With Lu Xiang he
attacks Xin Ye, but is killed by Zhao Yun.
Lu Ling Qi
The beloved daughter of Lu Bu, her mother died after she was
born. A lover of the fighting arts, she always accompanied
her father in battle. She refused to be married to Yuan
Shu's son.
Lu Meng
A Wu officer. An able warrior, he devoted himself to study
to improve his intellect. He was greatly admired by Lu Su as
a great servant of the Wu Kingdom. Together with Lu Xun, he
retook the Jing Province, capturing the great Guan Yu in the
process.
Lu Qian
An officer under Cao Cao. He and Man Chong are recommended
by Liu Ye, and made officers. He participates in a number of
battles and is primarily assigned to bring up the rearguard.
Lu Su
A vassal of Wu. On Zhou Yu's recommendation, he goes to
serve Sun Quan. He advises joining with Liu Bei at Chi Bi.
He becomes Commander upon the death of Zhou Yu, and serves
Wu against Wei and Shu.
Lu Xiang
An officer of Yuan Shang and Brother to Lu Kuang. He
generally stays with his brother. After surrendering to Cao
Cao, he is placed under Cao Ren, and attacks Liu Bei at Xin
Ye. He is defeated by Zhang Fei.
Lu Xun
A Wu officer and married to Sun Ce's daughter. With Lu Meng,
he defeated Guan Yu and succeeded in recapturing Jing. As
Commander at the Battle of Yi Ling, he led Wu to victory
over Liu Bei and the forces of Shu.

Ma Chao
The eldest son of Ma Teng, he was called "Ma Chao the
Splendid" due to his skills as a warrior. To avenge his
father, he led troops against Cao Cao at Chang An, but lost.
He later served Liu Bei and is counted among Shu's Five
Tigers.
Ma Dai
A Shu officer. Together with his cousin Ma Chao, he goes to
serve Liu Bei. He is put in charge of forces in the Northern
and Southern Campaigns and does well. After Zhuge Liang's
death, he put down Wei Yan, who had revolted. He was later
promoted.
Ma Liang
A Shu vassal. A talented man, he was given the nickname
"White Eyebrows." Together with his brother Ma Su, he served
Liu Bei. He helped Guan Yu with domestic affairs in Jing. At
the Battle of Yi Ling, he delivered encampment plans to
Zhuge Liang.
Ma Su
A Shu officer and younger brother of Ma Liang. Zhuge Liang
believed in his talent, but Liu Bei didn't trust him with
important matters. He served well during the Southern
Campaign, but in the north, his failure results in defeat,
forcing Zhuge Liang to execute him.
Ma Teng
Protector of Xi-Liang during the Later Han and descendant of
the famous warrior Ma Ju. He joins with Dong Cheng in an
attempt to kill Cao Cao. He is later called to the capital
by Cao Cao. He once again lays plans to kill Cao Cao, but is
discovered and executed.
Ma Tie
Third son of Ma Teng. Along with Ma Xiu, he follows his
father to Xu Chang. After the plot with Huang Kui to kill
Cao Cao is discovered, he flees, only to be surrounded by
Wei troops and killed.
Ma Xiu
Second son of Ma Teng. He accompanied his father when Ma
Teng is called to Xu Chang by Cao Cao. However, the plans to
revolt are discovered and he is taken and executed.
Man Chong
A vassal of Wei. He convinces Yang Feng's officer, Xu Huang,
to join Cao Cao. He advises Cao Ren to defend Fan Castle and
succeeds in repelling Guan Yu.
Mao Jie
A minister of Cao Cao. He is recommended by Man Chong to Cao
Cao. He excelled at internal administration and stressed the
need for farming. Following the death of Cai Mao, he and Yu
Jin were appointed Naval Commanders.
Meng Da
An officer who has served under Liu Zhang, Liu Bei and Cao
Pi. He contributes to Liu Bei's Shu campaign, but he deserts
Guan Yu and joins Wei. After the death of Cao Pi, he
attempts to return to Shu, but is defeated by Sima Yi.
Mi Fang
An officer under Liu Bei and Mi Zhu's little brother. He
protected Southern Jing under Guan Yu. However, he is
persuaded by his friend Fu Tu Ren to betray Guan Yu and join
Wu. He later returns to Shu, but is executed for his
betrayal.
Mi Zhu
A vassal under Liu Bei and wealthy merchant from Xu.
Following the death of his master, Yan Qian, he served Liu
Bei. After Liu Bei's capture of Shu, he was promoted to a
position higher than even Zhuge Liang.

Niu Jin
An officer under Cao Ren. In the fight with Wu, he trapped
Gan Ning in Yi Ling, but was forced to flee when
reinforcements from Zhou Yu arrived. He regroups and attacks
Zhou Yu, but the attack is anticipated and he is beaten
badly.

Pan Zhang
A Wu officer. Together with Zhu Ran he captured the great
Guan Yu, receiving Blue Dragon as a reward. Later, he is
pursued by Guan Yu's son, Guan Xing, and when caught by
surprise from seeing Guan Yu's ghost, is cut down and
killed.
Pang De
A Wei officer. He served Ma Chao, but was captured during
Cao Cao's attack on Han Zhong. At Fan Castle, he fought to a
draw with Guan Yu and showed his resolve, often preparing
his own coffin when going to battle.
Pang Tong
An official under Liu Bei. A classmate of Zhuge Liang, he
was often compared him. At Chi Bi, he helped ensure victory
for the Allied forces. After joining Liu Bei, he suggested
the capture of Shu and led the campaign himself.

Quan Zong
An officer of Wu, he was successful in a campaign against
bandits. Later, he and Lu Xun attack the Wei troops who are
deceived by Zhou Fang's false defection. He defeats Wei's
Xue Qiao.

Sha Moke
The King of Wu Xi Man. Helping Liu Bei in his campaign
against Wu, he killed Gan Ning with an arrow. After being
attacked by fire, he flees, but is followed by Wu's Zhou
Tai, who cuts down and kills him.
Shang Xiang
The daughter of the Sun Family and younger sister of Sun Ce
and Sun Quan. She took interest in the martial arts from an
early age. She married Liu Bei, but it is said that her
maidens were constantly outside her room, dressed in full
armor.
Shen Pei
A minister of Yuan Shao. Xun Yu called him stubborn and
unable to formulate a decent plan. After Yuan Shao's death,
he serves Yuan Shang. He is captured by Cao Cao but refuses
to join him. He is executed while looking towards his lord
in the north.
Shi Xie
A general of Wu and Prefect of Jiao-Zhi during the Later
Han. He swears allegiance to Sun Quan in the year 210 and is
promoted. He later climbs to the rank of General of Defense.
Sima Hui
A scholar. A noted figure of Xiang Yang, he taught Zhuge
Liang, Pang Tong and Xu Shu. He sheltered Liu Bei when he
fled across the Tan River, and told him about the Sleeping
Dragon and Fledgling Phoenix.
Sima Lang
A minister of the later Han and older brother to Sima Yi.
The siblings of Sima Yi were all very bright and were called
the "Eight Scholars of Sima." History records him, in
particular, as a scholar on par with Xun Shuang.
Sima Yi
A Wei vassal. In the battle with Shu, he refused to be lured
out by Zhuge Liang, resulting in victory. After serving four
generations of the Cao Family, he seized control of the Wei
Empire, laying the foundation for the Jin Dynasty.
Song Xian
An officer under Lu Bu. After seeing his friend Hou Cheng
being punished for a trivial matter, he, Hou Cheng and Wei
Xu defect to Cao Cao. Later, in the battle with Yuan Shao,
he is killed by the general Yan Liang.
Su Fei
An officer under Huang Zu and Marshal of Jiang Xia. His
friend Gan Ning a former pirate,is not trusted by Huang Zu
and defects. Later, Su Fei is captured by Sun Quan, but his
life is saved by Gan Ning, who had joined the Wu leader.
Sun Ce
The oldest son of Sun Jian. After his father's death, Sun Ce
went on to raise his own army. In a short while, controlled
Jiang Dong and earned the nickname the "Little Conqueror."
Starting with Zhou Yu, gathered many officers, laying the
foundation for Wu.
Sun Qian
A vassal of Liu Bei. Immediately before his death, Tao Qian
recommended him to Liu Bei. He went on to help the wandering
Liu Bei as advisor and diplomat. Upon Liu Bei's entrance
into Shu, he was next only to Mi Zhu.
Sun Quan
The first Emperor of the Wu Kingdom. The second son of Sun
Jian and younger brother of Sun Ce. Sun Ce praised his
ability at governance. At the Battle of Chi Bi, Sun Quan
emerged victorious against the much larger forces of Cao
Cao.
Sun Shao
He was adopted by Sun Jian, making him cousin to Sun Huan.
During the attack against Wei, he opposed Xu Sheng creating
confusion among the Wei troops. With the help of Ding Feng,
he achieved a great victory.

Taishi Ci
An officer of Wu. With his strong sense of duty and a
feeling of obligation to his mother, he saved Kong Rong from
danger. Later, he serves Liu Yong and fights Sun Ce to a
draw. Liu Yong eventually loses to Sun Ce, forcing Taishi Ci
to surrender.
Tian Feng
An aide of Yuan Shao. Xun Yu claimed he had a rigid nature
and was disobedient to his lord. He was against the fight
with Cao Cao and was put in jail for proposing a war of
attrition. He committed suicide after Feng Ji slandered his
good name.

Wang Can
A minister of Liu Biao. Following Liu Biao's death, he and
Kuai Yue recommend that Liu Zong surrender to Cao Cao. He is
later appointed to office by Cao Cao. He was a famous
writer.
Wang Fu
A minister of Guan Yu. When Guan Yu decides to attack Xiang
Yang, he is uneasy about Jing's defenses and cautions him
about them. He protects Mao Cheng after Guan Yu goes to get
help. He learns of his masters death and commits suicide.
Wang Lang
A vasal of Wei, formerly of the Later Han. He later serves
Cao Cao, and presses the Emperor to abdicate. At the Battle
of Wei Shui, he tries to debate with Zhuge Liang, but is
utterly defeated and dies in shame and frustration.
Wang Lei
A minister of Li Zhang. A loyal follower, he hangs himself
upside down from the castle gate to try to keep Liu Zhang
from calling on Liu Bei. He is ignored and he then cuts the
rope and falls to his death.
Wang Ping
A shu officer. Formerly of Wei, he opposed Xu Huang in the
Battle of Han Zhong and defected to Shu. He went on the
serve in both the Northern and Southern Campaigns. At Jie
Ting, he served under Ma Su and fought well, but lost.
Wang Shuang
A general under Cao Zhen and wielder of the Shooting Star, a
sixty pound blade. He fought Shu troops at Chen Cang. He
captured Xie Xiong, And wounded Zhang Yi. He tries to press
his attack, but is killed by Wei Yan.
Wang Xiu
A minister of Yuan Tan and an officer of Qing. He sheds
tears at the sight of Yuan Tan's decapitated head, in direct
disobedience of Cao Cao's command. In view of such loyalty,
he is given the position of Captain.
Wei Xu
An officer under Lu Bu. Together with Hou Cheng and Song
Xian, he defects to Cao Cao. At the Battle of Bai Ma, he
challenges Yan Liang to a duel, but is killed in one blow.
Wei Yan
A Shu officer. He served under Liu Biao until the latter's
death. Later, despite his rebellious spirit, and the
disapproval of Zhuge Liang, Liu Bei took him in as one of
his own. He went on to become a Five Tiger and was a major
force in the Shu efforts to take the North.
Wn Chou
An officer under Yuan Shao. In order to avenge his companion
Yan Liang, he set out for Yan Jin, where he met Cao Cao and
fought bravely in battle. He managed to defeat both Zhang
Liao and Xu Huang, but was eventually defeated by Guan Yu.
Wen Pin
An officer of Liu Biao and later, Wei. Together with Liu
Zong, he is about to surrender to Cao Cao, but embarrassed
he couldn't protect his country, is unable to serve him.
Impressed, Cao Cao makes him the Prefect of Jiang Xia.
Wu Ban
An officer of Shu and brother to Wu Yi. He was originally a
follower of Liu Zhang. In the campaign against Wu, he wins
many battles and encircles Sun Huan at Yi Ling. In the
Northern Campaign, he is killed by Zhang Hu and Yue Chen.
Wu Lan
A Shu officer. He was a servant under Lu Zhang, but switched
loyalties to Liu Bei after he invaded Shu. At the Battle of
Xia Yu, he fights with Cao Cao's son, Cao Zhang, and is
killed.
Wu Yi
An officer of Shu and brother-in-law to Liu Zhang. He
surrenders to Liu Bei after the formation of Shu. After
successfully serving Liu Bei, his younger sister becomes Liu
Bei's wife.

Xiahou Ba
An officer who served both Wei and Shu. Eldest son of Xiahou
Yuan. Fearing for his life, he fled to Shu following the
assassination of Cao Shuang by Sima Yi. His daughter becomes
Zhang Fei's wife and their child married Liu Chan.
Xiahou Dun
A Wei officer and cousin to Cao Cao. It is said that he lost
his eye to an arrow in a battle with Lu Bu. He then removed
it from the arrow and ate it. Late, he fought in many
battles, serving as Cao Cao's right-hand man.
Xiahou Yuan
A Wei officer and brother to Xiahou Dun. He joined Cao Cao
and led one flank o Cao Cao's army. Famous for his lightning
quick attacks, he had many victories, including the defeat
of Ma Chao. At Mt. Ding Jun, he was drawn out and killed by
Huang Zhong.
Xiang Chong
An officer of Shu and the nephew of Xiang Lang. In the
Officer list created by Zhuge Liang for his Northern
Campaigns, he is recorded as having a bright future due to
his qualities, deeds and personality. He protected the
rearguard during the Northern Campaign.
Xiang Lang
A minister of Liu Bei and uncle of Xiang Chong. He serves
Liu Biao, but after Biao's death, he swears allegiance to
Liu Bei. He serves as an advisor to Guan Yu, and was given
the charge of defending Jing.
Xin Pi
A vassal of Wei and brother of Xin Ping. Serves the Yuan
Family until its demise. He later joins Cao Cao. At the Wu
Zhang Plains, he delivers an Imperial decree to the Wei
forces that are lined up against Zhuge Liang, stopping the
army from attacking prematurely.
Xin Ping
A minister under Han Fu. After Han Fu flees, he serves the
Yuan Family. He becomes Yuan Tan's aide and strategist. He
is sent to Cao Cao as an ambassador. Cao Cao tries to
recruit him, but he refuses.
Xing Daorong
An officer under Liu Du. He opposes Liu Bei, but can not
stand against Zhang Fei and Zhao Yun and surrenders. After
being released, he once again raises an army and attacks,
but is struck down by a blow from Zhao Yun.
Xu Gong
Prefect of Wu in the Later Han. He sends a message warning
Cao Cao to beware of Sun Ce. His message is discovered and
he is killed. In revenge, three of his guests attack Sun Ce,
wounding him badly.
Xu Huang
A Wei officer. He joined Cao Cao after being persuaded by
Man Chong. A wise and valiant general, Cao Cao labeled him
"a match for Sun Tzu," after his victory over Guan Yu at Fan
Castle. He is counted among the Five Generals of Wei.
Xu Jing
A minister of Shu. When Liu Bei asked for Liu Zhang's
surrender, he was among the first to do so. He gained an
excellent reputation. When Liu Bei became Emperor, he was
made Minister of Interior.
Xu Shao
A physiognomist. Cousin of Shu's Xu Jing and a master judge
of character. He described the young Cao Cao as "an able
minister in peace, a genius in chaos." Character evaluations
were made at the beginning of each month.
Xu Sheng
A Wu officer. He served in the Battle of Chi Bi, and in the
attacks on He Fei and Jing. When Cao Pi attacked Wu, he took
a group of men and by building a phony castle, was able to
deceive and evade the Wei forces.
Xu Shu
A student of Sima Hui's and master of swordplay. He serves
as Liu Bei's strategist until his mother was taken by Cao
Cao. After that he was forced to serve Cao Cao. He
recommended the "Sleeping Dragon," Zhuge Liang to Liu Bei.
Xu You
A strategist to Yuan Shao. He switched allegiances to Cao
Cao, with whom he was on good terms, at Guan Du. He provided
information about Wu Chao which turned the tables of the war
and allowed Cao Cao to snatch victory from the jaws of
defeat.
Xu Zhu
A Wei officer. An extremely large man as big around as he
was tall. He served as Cao Cao's personal bodyguard.
Normally fairly absent-minded, he transformed on the
battlefield, fighting with the fierceness of a tiger,
earning him the nickname "Sleeping Tiger."
Xun You
A servant of Cao Cao and nephew of Xun Yu. Raised on the
battlefield, he was able to give many points of advice. At
the Battle of Chi Bi, he served along with Cheng Yu.
Xun Yu
A vassal of Wei and extremely clever. He served under Cao
Cao as an advisor. He disagrees with Cao Cao's accession to
the Wei throne and filled with anguish, dies of illness. It
has also been said that he committed suicide.

Yan Baihu
A bandit from the Wu territory. Calls himself the
"Benevolent King of East Wu." Shot by Sun Ce, he turns to
Wang Lang of Hui Ji for help, but is defeated once again. He
flees, but he is killed by Dong Xi, who offers his head to
Sun Ce.
Yan Gang
An officer under Gongsun Zan. He leads troops at the battle
of Jie Quiao, but is beaten and killed by Yuan Shao's
general, Qu Yi.
Yan Jun
Minister of Sun Quan. He debated with Zhuge Liang, who had
visited Wu for an alliance, but loses. He is given various
appointments after Sun Quan becomes Emperor.
Yan Liang
A brave warrior under Yuan Shao. He spearheaded the attack
at the Battle of Bai Ma, defeating both Song Xian and Wei
Xu. He also forced the brave Xu Huang to retreat, but
shortly after, was killed in one blow by Guan Yu, who was
serving under Cao Cao at the time.
Yan Pu
A minister of Zhang Lu. He makes many suggestions as Zhang's
strategist. He prevents the killing of Pang De, after Zhang
Lu had been tricked by Yang Song. After Zhang's surrender,
he serves as an officer for Cao Cao.
Yan Xing
The younger brother of Yan Baihu. He serves as an emissary
for peace to Sun Ce. During the negotiations, he proposes
that they split Jiang Dong in two. He is killed by an
enraged Sun Ce.
Yan Yan
A Shu officer. He served under Liu Zhang during the
protection of the Ca Territory. He fought against Zhang Fei,
and was captured, but impressed by his response, decided to
serve him. Later, he fought alongside Huang Zhong in the
assault on Han Zhong.
Yang Huai
An officer of Liu Zhang and Marshal of the Bai Shui Gate. He
plans the assassination of Liu Bei with his compatriot Gao
Pei. However, his plan is discovered before it can be
carried out. Liu Bei has him executed.
Yang Qiu
One of Han Sui's Eight Riders. Sent to Cao Cao as an envoy
for peace, but after the split between Han Sui and Ma Chao,
he was once again sent to Cao Cao, this time offering
surrender.
Yang Song
An advisor of Zhang Lu. He was a greedy man who would do
anything for money. He receives money from the enemy to cut
Ma Chao off. He later falsely warns against Pang De. He is
executed by Cao Cao for selling out his ruler.
Yang Xiu
A Wei vassal and the son of Captain Yang Biao of the Later
Han. Although talented, he is neglected by Cao Cao. It's
said that this was due to the fact that he was Yuan Shao's
nephew, or that perhaps because it had been suggested by Cao
Zhi.
Yi Ji
A minister of Shu. Under Liu Biao, he secretly warned Liu
Bei of the reputation of the horse Hex Mark and of Cai Mao's
assassination plot. After the Battle of Chi Bi, he enters
Liu Bei's service. He was an eloquent speaker.
Yu Fan
A Minister of Wu. Originally from Hui Ji, he joins Sun Ce
after Wang Lang is defeated in battle. He introduces the
famed doctor, Hua Tuo, to Zhou Tai. Later, he convinced
Shu's Fu Shiren to defect and was instrumental in taking
Jing.
Yu Ji
A Taoist who developed a following after healing people
throughout Wu and Hui Ji. Sun Ce, then ruler of the Wu
territory, killed him as a subversive, but as a ghost, he
cursed Sun Ce who subsequently died.
Yu Jin
A brave general serving Cao Cao, who was very impressed with
his calm nature. He surrenders while defending Fan Castle
after being defeated by Guan Yu. Sun Quan sends him back to
Wei, but he is disgraced and dies of illness.
Yuan Shang
Yuan Shao's third son. He was favored by his father due to
his looks. After his father's death, he fought with his
eldest brother, Yuan Tan, for the throne. Later, he is
defeated by Cao Cao and turns to his other brother, Yuan Xi.
Yuan Shao
A member of the Yuan Family, he serves as leader of the
Allied forces against Dong Zhuo. Following Dong Zhuo's
death, he fought with Cao Cao over control over the land.
However, despite his large army, internal strife and various
other troubles brought him defeat.
Yuan Shu
Prefect of Southern Yang during the Later Han. Yuan Sao's
half-brother. Receives the Imperial Seal from Sun Ce in
exchange for troops. With this, he declares himself Emperor.
However, his despotic rule is soon destroyed.
Yuan Tan
Yuan Shao's oldest son. Following his father's death, he
fights with the youngest of the descendants, Yuan Shang, but
loses. Receiving help from Cao Cao, he defeats Yuan Shang,
but is then killed by Cao Cao.
Yuan Xi
Yuan Shao's second son. He attacks Cao Cao, who killed his
brother Yuan Shang, but is betrayed and forced to flee to Wu
Wan. Later, he turns to Gongsun Kang of Liao Dong, but is
killed and his head sent to Cao Cao.
Yue Jin
A general under Cao Cao. He showed tremendous skill during
his many battles and was revered as one of Wei's Five
Generals, who include the likes of Zhang Liao, Yu Jin, Xu
Huang and Zhang He.

Zang Ba
An officer under Tao Qian. He participates in the action
against the Yellow Turbans. Later, he joins Lu Bu as he
roams across the country. In the fight against Cao Cao, he
joined a group of bandits. He joins Cao Cao after the death
of Lu Bu.
Zhang Bao
A Shu general and Zhang Fei's eldest son. When Zhang Fei
died, he took the Cobra Pike as a memento and in his first
battle at Yi Ling. Together with his sworn brother, Guan
Xing, he continued the legend of Shu after the death of
their fathers.
Zhang Fei
An officer of Shu and member of the Five Tigers. Sworn
brother of Liu Bei and Guan Yu. At Chang Ban, he rode out
and gave a powerful battle cry, frightening off one million
of Cao Cao's troops. His love of wine and drink often led to
his defeat.
Zhang He
Officer of Wei. Once under Yuan Shao, false charges by Guo
Tu forced him to leave. He went to serve Cao Cao and fought
against Shu, where his abilities were acknowledged by Zhuge
Liang. At Jie Ting, he surrounded Ma Su and defeated him. He
is among the Five Generals of Wei.
Zhang Heng
An officer under Han Sui and one of the Eight Riders of Han
Sui. With Ma Chao, he causes the fall of Chang An. However,
he is killed during the battle of Wei Nan.
Zhang Hong
A minister of Wu. He and Zhang Zhao were strategists known
as the "Two Zhangs." At Zhou Yu's urging he is invited to
become an aide. He participates at the Battles of Chi Bi and
He Fei. Before his death, he urges Sun Quan to move Wu's

Zhang Liao
A Wei officer. He served under Lu Bu. After Lu Bu's death,
he joined Cao Cao. At He Fei, he repelled over 100,000 Wu
troops with just 800 men. He was feared by many across the
land. He was the head of the Five Wei Generals.
Zhang Lu
Founder of a religious school of thought. He develops the
Han Zhong area. He is invaded by and loses his land to Cao
Cao. However, he is highly praised for not torching his
supply depots. He later given a high rank by Cao Cao.
Zhang Ren
An officer of Liu Zhang. He kills Liu Bei's officer Pang
Tong at Lao Feng Po. He is later captured but refuses to
submit to Liu Bei, saying, "A man cannot serve two masters."
He chooses death.
Zhang Song
A minister of Liu Zhang. To stop Zhang Lu from invading Shu,
he urged that Liu Bei take control of the area from Liu
Zhang. He was executed when his plans were revealed by his
own older brother.
Zhang Wei
Younger brother of Zhang Lu. He advocated resistance to Cao
Cao's attempts to invade Han Zhong. He later moves to Ba
Zhong and fights with Xu Zhu, but is killed.
Zhang Xiu
Nephew of Zhang Ji. Following his uncle's death, he leads
his army to aid Liu Biao. At one point, he joins Cao Cao,
but rebels when his uncle's wife is taken. Later, following
the advice of Jia Xu, he returns to Cao Cao.
Zhang Xun
An officer of Yuan Shu. When Yuan Shu names himself Emperor,
he is made Supreme Commander. He attacks Lu Bu with a force
of 250,000 men, but runs away defeated.
Zhang Yan
Head of the Black Mountain Bandits. After Cao Cao's victory
over Yuan Tan, he surrenders his 100,000 troops to Cao Cao.
For this, he is made a General and given the task of
strengthening defenses in the north.
Zhang Ying
Officer of Liu Yong. He boasts he can defend Niu Zhu with a
single unit against the invasion of Sun Ce but is defeated.
He is later killed at Mo Ling by Sun Ce's officer, Chen Wu.
Zhang Yun
An officer under Liu Zhang and one of Cai Mao's trusted
friends. Together, they surrender to Cao Cao and he is put
in charge of the Naval forces. He fails under suspicion of
treason and is put to death with Cai Mao.
Zhang Zhao
A minister of Sun Quan, he is one of the "Two Zhangs." He is
invited to become Sun Ce's aide at Zhou Yu's urging. On his
deathbed, Sun Ce recommended that Sun Quan, "listen to Zhang
Zhao in matters relating to internal affairs."
Zhao Fan
Prefect of Gui Yang. After the Battle of Chi Bi, he
surrenders his city to Zhao Yun. He proposes the marriage of
his brother's widow to Zhao Yun, but is refused and beaten.
Zhao Yun
A Shu officer. After serving Yuan Shao and Gongsun Zan, he
changed loyalties to Liu Bei. Bold and daring, he charged
through the enemy army at Chang Ban to rescue Liu Bei's son,
Liu Chan. He is among the Five Tigers.
Zhong Yao
A minister of Wei. He defends Chang An, but loses it to an
attack by Ma Chao. He is declared Imperial Tutor when Cao
Rui ascends the throne. He was the father of Zhong Hui.
Zhou Cang
A former Yellow Turban general. As a bandit on Mt. Wo Niu,
he meets with Guan Yu and becomes his trusted companion. A
hero well trained in the water. However, he does not
actually appear in history.
Zhou Tai
A Wu general. Together with his friend, Jiang Qin, he joined
Sun Ce. After being attacked by bandits and despite
receiving heavy injuries, he managed to save Sun Quan.
Later, Sun Quan expressed his thanks for Zhou Tai's sense of
self-sacrifice.
Zhou Yu
A Wu officer. The sworn brother of his Lord, Sun Ce.
According to Sun Ce's will, he became chief lieutenant to
the young Sun Quan. He led Wu at Chi Bi, leading his fleet
to victory over the much larger forces of Cao Cao. He was
often complimented on his good looks.
Zhu Huan
A Wu officer. He served in the defense of the Ru Xu in the
campaign against Wei. With just 5,000 men, he defeated Cao
Xiu's army, which numbered in the tens of thousands. After
Sun Quan ascended to the Emperor's throne, he was promoted
for his deeds.
Zhu Ling
Officer of Wei. Assigned as an observer during the campaign
against Yuan Shu, he is unable to fulfill his assignment. He
is said to have been disliked by Cao Cao.
Zhu Ran
A Wu officer. He controlled the navy at the Battle of Yi
Ling. He gave chase after Liu Bei, who fled from Lu Xun's
fire attack. However, he was stopped by Zhao Yun, who came
to Liu Bei's aid, allowing him to escape.
Zhu Zhi
A Wu officer. He served three generations of the Sun Family.
He suggests that Sun Ce borrow troops from Yuan Shu in order
to gain their independence. He is made Prefect of the Wu
Territory and serves at the Battle of Chi Bi.
Zhuge Jin
A vassal of Wu and Zhuge Liang's older brother. He serves at
the recommendation of Lu Su. Extremely generous, he was
deeply trusted by Sun Quan. He helped smooth relations
between Shu and Wu.
Zhuge Liang
The Shu strategist and advisor. Called the "Sleeping
Dragon." He joins Liu Bei after being honored by three
visits from the young leader. A genius in both domestic and
foreign affairs, he was a major contributor to the founding
of the Shu Kingdom.
Zou Ci
A Taoist magician. He trained on Mount Emei and acquired the
Book of Illusions. At a banquet given by Cao Cao, he
performed his magic. It is said he made fun of Cao Cao and
then quietly left.
