8.) Rating

Here's my rating on Mario's Time Machine! I'm giving it 1-5 stars.

Play Control: ****

The controls  were great  and  everything,  but it  was hard  for me to  do the
spin.

Graphics: ***

I would give the  graphics a  one star, but  I'm comparing  this game  to other
NES
games, not games in this generation.

Music: **

I didn't like the  music a whole  lot, but I liked  how it played  music in all
the
time areas.

Sound Effects: **

It didn't sound... I don't know... right.

Plot: ***

The plot was average and all. I liked how you didn't have to save Princess
Peach again!

Replay: *

Once you play it once, that's the only time you will play it! It's the same
thing everytime.

Difficulty (Very Easy):

The game was very easy and you can't die.

Fun: *

I don't think the games that fun. I'm used to RPG's.

Box Cover: **

The box cover  showed Mario  in this  flying Machine!  I was  thinking,  what's
that?

Overall: **

The games ok, but it could be better.

Good Point:

You can actually fight bad guys.

Bad Point:

You can't die.

INTRODUCTION
[picture of Mario entering Bowser's Museum]

Better check your watch! Bowser's out to turn back the clock.  Not to
Daylight Savings. No! To the Dark Ages!

That terrible turtle is using a time machine, called a Timulator, to loot
historical artifacts from the past. His twisted intent?  To build Bowser's
Museum, fill it with historic booty, then destroy the time machine. This
dastardly plan will turn time inside out, make the future bend over
backwards, and change the course of history. Forever.

This is no time to let bygones be bygones. Help Mario stop Bowser before he
warps time and puts hiccups in history. If not, it's back to stone tools and
hieroglyphics! This quest is hot. If you're too late, it'll be lights out.
Time's up.

[page 2]

NOTE TO PARENTS

Dear Parents,

MARIO'S TIME MACHINE is intended to be a fun way for kids to learn about
history. But to get the most out of the program, your child may need a
helping hand. Here are some things that you can do to help:

* Encourage your child to read all of the clues in the game to learn facts
about each time period visited with Mario.

* If your child is a young reader, please help him by reading clues.

* Discuss anything that you know about the times that your child visits with
Mario.

* Share newspaper and magazine articles about those times with your child -
sometimes the Sunday paper has a travel history section.

Who knows?  In the process of helping your child, you might learn something
about history and have fun, too!

Ciao,
Mario

BROWSING BOWSER'S MUSEUM

Inside his castle, Bowser hoards  historical souviners  in his personal museum.

As that terrible tortoise returns from his time travels, he stashes loot,
slowly destroying the warp of time and space. Once the museum is complete,
Bowser plans to destroy his time machine, and alter the course of known
history. This could mean lights out!

[picture of Mario in Bowser's Museum]

Visit the museum with Mario and Yoshi. After Bowser captures Yoshi, you must
help Mario return all artifacts and pass the History Test to free Yoshi and
save our History.

Help Mario find a door  to the Timulator  and enter it. (To  enter a door press

Up.)

[page 8]

PROGRAMMING THE TIMULATOR

Bowser may  be bad but  he's good  enough  to build  a time  machine,  which he
calls
the
Timulator.  This awesome contraption can be programmed to return to any
time or place that Bowser burgled. The trick is Mario needs to snag an
artifact before he can jump into the Timulator. Then you need to figure out
where  and  when   the  object   fits  in  history.   This  may   require  some
explorations!

[picture of Mario in the Timulator room]

To snag an artifact, Mario must bonk three Koopas off the platforms. When
the artifact appears, Mario needs to run over and pick it up. A hint about
the artifact appears at the top of the screen. Help Mario jump down into
the Timulator. To pick a date in history, use the Control Pad, then press
A and watch Mario travel through a time warp!

[page 9]

TIMELY TRAVELLING TIPS

There's really only one way to figure out which artifacts belong where -
Mario's got to visit each time period and get all the information he can.
Help Mario walk around and look for information boxes and people.
Mario needs to jump up and bonk each box to get all the information. Each
time period has six clues. He also needs to talk to people.
This can only be done when the question mark is in the top window
(press START).

[pictures of Mario in Egypt and on the moon]

Hint: Twirling jumps will break blocks under the info boxes.  Be careful
not to break blocks that Mario needs to reach a clue.

[page 10]

TIMELINE

To see the Timeline, make sure that the clock appears in the upper window,
then press START.

[picture of the timeline]

Taking notes about the Timeline is a really good idea while Time
Travelling and also helps you pass the History Test. Make a complete
list of years, then scribble down any hints that help you remember
where and when. If Mario is in the wrong time and place, he can always
climb back into the Timulator, time travel back to Bowser's museum,
and try, try again!

[page 11]
[space to keep notes about the various times]

[page 12]

HISTORY TEST

After Mario returns all artifacts to their proper place in history,
you must help him pass the History Test to open the door to Yoshi's
prison.

Run past all the locked doors to the door marked Test.

Press A to read each Question.

Use the Control Pad to select each correct answer, then press START.

Hint: If you give an incorrect answer, press any button to return to
that time and review the facts in the info boxes.

After you pass the test, enter the door and look for Bowser.  Bonk
Bowser until he drops the key to Yoshi's prison and free Yoshi!
Yipee!

10.) Walkthrough

1. The Torch and the Lightbulb

When you first begin the game you will see Yoshi being captured by Bowser.
When the little  movie is   done, Mario  will automatically   enter the museum.
The
room you are in has eight rooms. The last room is Bowsers personal room and
the only  way to  get into   there  is if  you return   all  the 14  Historical
artifacts
to there original places. Start with the first door. In this room there are
three koopas.  Stand  below a  ledge and  wait for  a koopa  to move over  you.
When
the koopas right on top of you, jump up and part of the ledge will move. The
koopa should  then  fall down  and you  can jump  on it  to kill  it. Once  you
destroy
all the  koopas,  the last  koopa  will  drop a  Torch.  Pick up  the Torch  by
bending
down. Now  go into  the Time  Machine  and  transport  yourself  to 776BC.  The
screen
should start to  spin and you will  find yourself  in the Olympic  Coliseum. Go
all
the way across the screen while dodging koopas and you should find and large
pillar. Jump  on the pillar  and press  Select until  you get  the Torch.  When
you
finally have the torch press Start and a newspaper will come up and say:
THANK YOU-Now that the TORCH has been lit-Let the games begin! Now you will
find yourself out side the first door. Go through the door again and
destroy all the koopas. The last koopa should drop a Lightbulb. Pick
it up just like the Torch and go through the Time Machine. This time
go to 1879. You should now be in Thomas Edison's House. Go to the
last bookcase and put the lightbulb there. Another Newspaper should
come up and say: THANK YOU-If you hadn't returned Edisons LIGHTBULB
we would all be in the dark! Mario will appear in front of the first
door and close it with bricks so no one could ever get inside.

2. The Apple and the Sledge Hammer

Go over to the second door and go inside. Like the first door, you will have
to destroy all the koopas. The last koopa will drop an Apple. Pick up the
Apple and go into  the Time  Machine. This  time go to 1687  and put the  Apple
on
the big tree at the far side of the area. Another Newspaper will come up
saying: THANK YOU-Because you returned the APPLE, Newton will soon discover
the principle of gravity when it falls to the ground. You will find Mario in
front of the  second door.  Go through  it and destroy  the  koopas again.  The
last
koopa will drop a Sledge Hammer. Pick up the Sledge Hammer and go to 1989.
When your in 1989 go to the Guards Building that is all the way over to the
right and put the Sledge Hammer in front of the Guards door. Yet, another
newspaper will appear saying: THANK YOU-Another SLEDGE HAMMER will come in
handy, the Berlin wall is about to collapse. Timber! Mario will appear in
front of the second door again and will cover it up with bricks just like
the first door!

3. The Dinosaur Egg and the Stovepipe Hat

Now that the second door is closed go to the third door. Just like the
other two doors you will have to fight the koopas. The last koopa will drop
an Egg. Pick up the Egg and go to 80mBC. Keep going right until you enter a
cave. Lay the Egg down in the cave and a Newspaper should pop up. The
Newspaper says: THANK YOU-Because you returned this precious DINOSAUR EGG,
you have given new life to these magnificent creatures. You should find
yourself in front of the third door again. Go in the door and fight away
the koopas. The last koopa will drop a long Stovepipe Hat. Pick up the hat
and bring it to old Abe in 1862. Walk to the middle of the area where you
should see a gate saying Gettysburg. Put the Stovepipe Hat there and
another Newspaper should pop up. This one says: THANK YOU-Abe just hasn't
been himself lastly with his STOVEPIPE HAT. He even refused to sign the
Gettysburg Address without it. Mario will again reappear in front of the
third door again, but this time he will cover the door with bricks.

4. The Steering Wheel and the New India Flag

Go over to the fourth door and enter it. Inside you will have to fight
away the koopas again and the last one will drop a Steering Wheel. Pick
up the Steering Wheel and go to 1520 where Magellan is sailing around the
world. Go to the bow of the boat and put the Steering Wheel atop the
hanging anchor. Another Newspaper will pop up and say: THANK YOU-Because
you have returned Magellan's STEERING WHEEL he can continue with his
crew on the first voyage around the world. Enter the fourth door again
and defeat the koopas. The last koopa will drop a New India Flag. Pick
it up and transport yourself to 1947. Follow the trail along to the right
until you reach a big, golden, palace. Place the flag there and a
Newspaper will come up. This one reads: THANK YOU-The return of the NEW
INDIA FLAG marks the birth of a new nation, making Gandhi proud. Mario
will already be in front of the forth door ready to cover it with bricks.

5. The Quill Pen and the Flag

After Mario blocks the fourth door go into the fifth. Defeat all the
koopas in there and the last one will drop a Quill Pen. Take the Quill
Pen and go back in time to 1602. When you get out of the Time Machine
you'll be in a dingy, little town. Go to your right and you'll see a
lady running from a Hammer Bro. Go on the stage she and the Hammer Bro
were on and put the Quill Pen there. A Newspaper should come up saying:
THANK YOU-Now that you have returned his QUILL PEN, Shakespeare can
continue to wright his famous sonnets and plays. You will find Mario in
front of the fifth door. Go through the door and kill all the koopas. The
last koopa will drop a Flag. Pick it up and go to 1969. You will be on the
moon when you get out of the Time Machine. Go all the way to the right and
you will see an astronaut being bullied by a koopa. Jump onto the spaceship
and put the flag there. Another Newspaper should pop up that says: THANK
YOU-Now that you returned the FLAG, man's first landing on the moon can be
claimed by the United States. Again, Mario will be in front of the fifth
door, but this time he will block it with some bricks.

6. The Throne and the Propeller

Go over to the sixth door and enter it. Get rid of all the koopas in this
room and the last one will drop a Throne. Pick up the Throne and enter the
Time Machine. Go to 31 BC and then go all the way to the right where you
will see  Cleopatra   being  bossed  around   by a  Hammer   Bro.  Go to  where
Cleopatra
was and put  the Throne  there.  A Newspaper   should  flash up  saying:  THANK
YOU-Now
that Cleopatra  has her  Throne back,  she can resume  her region  as Queen  of
Egypt.
Mario will  appear in  front of  the sixth  door once  more.  Go into  the room
again
and fight the koopas all over again. The last one will give you a Propeller.
Get the propeller and propel yourself into 1903 with the Time Machine. When
your in 1903 go to the right and you'll see a plane with no propeller. Put
the Propeller  on the  plane and  another  Newspaper  should  appear.  This one
says:
THANK YOU-Now that you've returned the PROPELLER, fasten your seatbelts and
prepare for takeoff.  Mario  will again reappear  in front  of the sixth  door,
but
this time he covers it up with bricks.

7. The Sword and the Physics Equation

Enter the seventh door and get rid of the koopas to get the Sword. Take the
Sword and go to 1192. You will be in a small chinese town with a Red Shrine
in it. Go to the Red Shrine by going right. When you get to the shrine put
the Sword there. A Newspaper should appear and say: THANK YOU-What would a
Samurai be without his SWORD. Enter the seventh door again and exterminate
the koopas.  The last  koopa will  give  you a Physics  Equation.  Pick  up the
sheet
and blast to 1905. You will come out of the Time Machine in a laboratory. Go
to the last chalkboard in the lab and stand right under it, then place the
Physics Equation  there. Your   final  Newspaper  should   then  arrive saying:
THANK
YOU-Because you've returned the E=mc2 formula, physics students will have a
reason to pull there hair out. You will find Mario standing in front of the
seventh door,  but this  time,  like the  other doors,  Mario  will block  them
with
bricks and cement.

8. The Final Door

As you go  to the  final  door,  you will  see that  the  stop sign  that  said
"Stop"
now says "Test."  Go up  to the test  sign and answer  three  questions.  There

15.) FAQ

Here are some FAQ:

Q: Does this guide work for the SNES version of Mario's Time Machine?

A: No.  This  Guide  is  for  the  NES  version  only.   The  SNES  version  is
different.

Q: Can I get back into a room if Mario closed it off?

A: No, and even so, why would you want too?

Q: Mario just  closed  all of  the doors.  Can I go  back and  go into  another
place
in time again?

A: Only if you answer a wrong question on the Test.

Q: Why did the stop sign change to Test?

A: You need to take  a test before  you defeat Bowser.  There are  14 questions
and
the test will give you three. If you miss a question, the test will send you
back to the time where the answer is given in one of the information blocks.

Q: Can I jump over the test sign and skip it?

A: No. You  can jump  over  it, but  it  won't  allow you  to go  into Bowser's
room.

Q: Can I go further into the Museum?

A: No. You can in the SNES version, I think.

Q: Can I die?

A: No.
