you some assistance in completing this game. I've written a Game Overview, a
comprehensive Walkthrough, Gadget List, and much more. Beware of the spoilers,
though.
Totally Spies! is a game based on the television series of the same name. It
is the first installment in the Totally Spies! videogame series. The game's
storyline is loosely based on the first three seasons of the show.

3. Game Overview

This section overviews everything you should know prior to starting this game.

3.01 - GAME CONTROLS
===============================================================================
Left/right: Move left/right.
Up: Move up (a few stages only).
Down: Move down (a few stages only)/Let go of pipe or ledge (most stages)/
Crouch (most stages).
Start: Display the Pause Menu.
A: Jump.
B: Punch (most stages).
L: Use gravelling hook.
R: Use gadget.
Up/down: Move up/down.

3.02 - MAIN MENU
===============================================================================
When you press the Start Button at the Title Screen, you'll be sent to the Main
Menu. There are 5 options (New Game, Continue, Gallery, Secrets, and Options)
to choose from. Gallery and Secrets are locked at the start, so you can't
select them yet until you load a saved game.
New Game
--------
If you want to begin a new game, select New Game and you'll be sent to the
Chapter Selection screen. At first, you'll only be able to access 'The
Aptitude Test' and 'Save The Earth', but as you complete chapters, you'll
unlock new ones. With the exception of Kiwi-Kiki In Danger, each chapter is
divided into 3 stages. After you clear a stage, you can play the next one.
Continue
--------
If you want to load a saved game, select Continue and you'll be sent to the
Chapter Selection screen. You can continue the game from the last time your
progress was automatically saved. Each time you complete a stage, your
progress is saved automatically. Your progress is also saved each time you
find a flower. You can re-play stages in all the chapters you have unlocked.
Gallery
-------
If you want to see the pictures you've unlocked, select Gallery and you'll be
sent to the Image Gallery screen. It contains pictures of scenes you have seen
in each chapter. If you complete the game, you'll unlock the Special Gallery,
which contains pictures of all the different Game Over screens.
Secrets
-------
If you want to see the passwords you've unlocked, select Secrets and you'll be
sent to the Secret Zone screen. You can win passwords by finding the flowers
in the stages (there is 1 flower per chapter). Each time you find a flower,
your progress will be automatically saved, so you can exit the stage
immediately. This is useful if you have completed the game and don't want to
complete the stages again. If you visit the official Totally Spies! website at
www.totallyspies.com and enter your password, you'll apparently get a surprise.
Options
-------
If you want to see the options, select Options and you'll be sent to the
Options Selection screen. You can turn the music and/or sound effects on/off,
or see the credits. When you exit this screen, your changes are saved
automatically.

3.03 - GAME SCREEN

This section gives information about the Game Screen.
This stage is viewed from a side-on or top-down perspective.
Life Bar
--------
You start each stage with 5 hearts. Each time you get hit by an enemy or
obstacle, you lose a heart. If you run out of hearts, you'll get a Game Over.
However, you can decide to quit the game or restart from the last Check Point,
meaning you have infinite chances to complete a stage.
Hearts
------
There are a few of these in most stages. Whenever you touch a heart, one of
your Life Bar's hearts will be restored.
Check Points
------------
There are a few of these in most stages. Whenever you pass a Check Point,
you'll restart a stage from that location.
Enemies
-------
There are a few of these in most stages. Enemies include robots, spiders, etc.
Obstacles
---------
There are a few of these in most stages. Obstacles include spikes, chemicals,
water jets, steam jets, lasers, pistons, lava, etc.
Life Bar
--------
You start each stage with 5 hearts. Each time you get hit by an enemy or
obstacle, you lose a heart. If you run out of hearts, you'll get a Game Over.
However, you can decide to quit the game or restart from the last Check Point,
meaning you have infinite chances to complete a stage.
Check Points
------------
There are a few of these in most stages. Whenever you pass a Check Point,

Obstacles

There are a few of these in most stages. Obstacles include avalanches, oil
stains, lasers, orange and green mines, etc.
At first, you can only choose one of two chapters, 'The Aptitude Test' and
'Save The Earth', but as you complete chapters, you'll unlock new ones. With
the exception of Kiwi-Kiki In Danger, each chapter is divided into 3 stages.
After you clear a stage, you can play the next one.

4.01 - CHAPTER 1: THE APTITUDE TEST
===============================================================================
Jerry informs Sam, Clover and Alex that a mysterious man, named Gum-Gum Pink,
has created a virus. He then mixed it with the very famous cosmetics product
BellaSkin. Now, every girl who has used the product has become ugly. The
spies must infiltrate his lab and find five test tubes. They contain a very
dangerous chemical product used by Gum-Gum Pink to create his virus. This
chapter's ending has a twist in the tale.

Stage 1: Enter the Chemical Factory

Objectives:
-----------
* Reach the laboratory.
* To do this, avoid the searchlights and cross the field in front of you.
* Use the Bug-Tronic to cross the mine field.
After speaking with Jerry, go right and head past the non-moving searchlights.
If you touch them, you'll have to begin the stage from the start. If you run
out of hearts, you'll get a Game Over. However, you can decide to quit the
game or restart from the last Check Point, meaning you have infinite chances to
complete a stage.
When you come across two moving searchlights, wait for the left one to go down
before crossing them from above. When you notice one searchlight, wait for it
to go up and then cross it from the bottom. As you go past a few towers,
Clover will inform you that there is a mine field straight ahead.
You must use the Bug-Tronic to hack into a green computer, so your goggles will
identify the mines. Press the R Button to take control of the Bug-Tronic. You
must move it past the searchlights and avoid touching them. If the
Bug-Tronic's battery runs out, you'll start from the Check Point (where Clover
talked to you). When you come across the green computer, press R to hack it.
When you regain control of Sam, go past the searchlights and mines. If you
touch them, you'll restart from the Check Point. When you come across a green
computer (this is the same one you hacked), go right to meet Clover and Alex.
Congratulations! You've completed the first stage.

Stage 2: Find the 5 test tubes

* Find the 5 test tubes.
* Get the Grappling Hook.
* Find the exit.
When you go right, Sam and Clover will explain some useful controls. You can
jump by pressing A. Double-jump by pressing A again in mid-jump. Press and
hold Up or Down on the +Control Pad to look Up or Down. Grab a pipe by
pressing A. Press Down on the +Control Pad to jump from the pipe.
Jump over the platform and grab the pipe above you. Move across it and drop
down at the end. The toxic chemicals underneath the pipe can hurt you, so try
to avoid falling off it. Press R to hack the safe nearby. To hack the safe,
you must press the buttons displayed on the top of the bars when the gauge is
in the right place. Concentrate on one button at a time to make things easier.
After hacking the safe, go right and you'll see a robot. You can beat this
robot by pressing B three times right in front of him. Take out the robot and
jump up the platforms. Head left and hack the safe. There are 3 buttons
displayed this time. After hacking the safe, drop down and proceed right.
Crouch underneath the steam jets and press Right to avoid getting hurt.
Deal with the robot and go right. Take out another robot and hack the safe
nearby. Now jump against the wall and press A to jump again. This enables you
to do a Super Mario 64 style wall-jump. You'll find the Gravelling Hook on a
platform to the east. Press L to use it on grey pipes on the ceiling. Once
you're grappling you can let go with A and quickly grapple again to move across
the ceiling.
Grapple across the ceiling and hack the safe at the end. There are 4 buttons
displayed this time. Drop down and crouch left. Jump over the platform and
go west. Take out the robot and continue onward. Crouch left to find a
flower.
Go back and grapple across the pipe to find a safe. After hacking it, drop
down twice and head left. Grab the pipe and move across it. Drop down and
deal with the robot. Wall-jump and enter the door to complete the stage.

Stage 3: Cool the chemicals

* Prevent the tanks from overheating by applying the neutralizing chemical
reagent.
When the stage starts, Gum-Gum Pink will be preparing to drop chemicals into
the barrels. Jerry tells you to aim at the chemicals with the +Control Pad and
hit A to shoot. If the villain drops too many chemicals into the barrels, the
reactor will explode when the temperature gauge fills up completely.
At first, Gum-Gum Pink will only drop green chemicals. These are easy to shoot
at. When one container runs out of chemicals, he'll start dropping red
chemicals in addition to the green ones. Whenever a container runs out, it
will serve as a Check Point. The red chemicals descend faster than the green
ones, so concentrate on shooting them first. When there is only one container
left, Gum-Gum Pink will drop loads of green and red chemicals. If you keep
moving Left/Right and pressing A repeatedly, you'll have a good chance of
completing this stage. When you do so, you'll unlock a new chapter: The
Halloween Chase.

4.02 - CHAPTER 2: SAVE THE EARTH

Jerry informs Sam, Clover and Alex that Dr. Gelee is threatening to freeze the
Earth with a powerful satellite from space. A W.O.H.H.P team has located his
headquarters. The spies' mission is to infiltrate the building and hack into
the computer that manages the satellite.

Stage 1: Infiltrate the base

Objectives:

* Hack the laser detection system.
* Access the computer room.
When the stage starts, you'll be using the Turbo Bungee Belt to descend. As
you go down, you'll notice a laser floor. When the laser is turned off, you
can safely pass it. After passing a lot of lasers (if you're having trouble
getting past them, practice moving up and down and you'll get the hang of it),
press Left and Right to swing. Press R to grab the control panel and hack it.
Press the buttons that appear on the screen in chronological order to continue
(similar to Quicktime Events in Shenmue for the Sega Dreamcast).
When you descend, you'll notice an air vent. As you pass through it, you must
press Left constantly to avoid being pulled into the lasers. When the pulling
stops, you can safely go down. After passing another air vent, you can grab
the control panel below and hack it. Press the buttons to continue.
When you decend, you'll have to pass 3 laser floors. After an air vent, go
through 2 lasers. The next laser rotates around the screen, so watch out.
When you pass another air vent, you can go down and grab the control panel.
Hack it and press the buttons to continue. When you descend, go past 4 lasers
and 2 air vents. After a few more lasers, you can land on the pink floor to
complete the stage.

Stage 2: Hack into the computer

Objectives:

* Hack computer and neutralize the satellite.
In my opinion, this is the hardest stage in the game. When the stage starts,
you'll have to hack into the computer and assign a new position for the
satellite. You must memorize the sequence of the symbols on the computer.
Press these symbols in the same order shown by the computer. Note that you
have a time limit to do this, so be ready. Each time you clear a sequence, it
will serve as a Check Point. You must memorize 5 sequences in order to
complete the stage. If you're having trouble remembering the sequences, I
advise recording them via devices such as tape recorders or video cameras.

Stage 3: Escape from the building

* Escape from the building.
When the stage starts, Sam tells you to find a way towards the roof, as a
W.O.O.H.P helicopter is coming for you there. Some of the window edges are
booby-trapped, so be careful. If you jump left, you'll find a flower. Now go
right and hop across the platforms. When Sam tells you to hack into the
control panel, press R in front of it to call an elevator. Whenever you hack a
panel in this stage, it will serve as a Check Point.
Head down the elevator and go left. Hop across the platforms and drop down.
When Alex warns you about some people near the big windows, go right. You can
hang from the window ledge by pressing Down and A. Let go of the ledge by
pressing Down. If you're hanging, climb up by pressing Up.
Press Down to see two platforms below. Drop down and hang from the window
ledge. Move across the ledge to avoid falling into the spikes. Go right and
move across another window ledge. When you reach the end, climb up the ledges
and head left. Hop across the platforms and hack the elevator.
When the elevator arrives, jump onto it and ride it to the top. Go right and
hop across the platforms. When Sam tells you to look out, stay away from a
window if you see a light turn on. Otherwise, you'll be spotted by someone.
When the light is turned off, you can continue onward.
Go past the window and stop at the platform east of it. Climb up the ledge and
wait for the light above to turn off. Climb up and move across the window
ledge. When the lights turn off, hop across the platforms quickly and climb
up the ledge. When the light is turned off, climb up another ledge. Climb up
the ledge above and move across it.
When the light is turned off, go past the window and climb up two ledges. Go
left and hop across the platforms. Hack the elevator nearby and ride it down.
Jump onto another elevator and drop down to the left. When the light turns
off, climb up two ledges and head right. Hack the elevator and jump right
immediately to land on top of it. When the elevator takes you to the roof,
you'll complete the stage. When you do so, you'll unlock a new chapter: A
Lovely Singer.

4.03 - CHAPTER 3: THE HALLOWEEN CHASE

Jerry informs Sam, Clover and Alex that Freaky Circus is back. He's kidnapped
seven people, hidden them in the circus basement, and now he's challenging
W.O.O.H.P to find them! He says that if W.O.O.H.P frees the hostages, he will
give them clues to his identity.

Stage 1: Free the 7 people

Objectives:

* Free the 7 people.
When the stage starts, Jerry tells you to use the Unglue Spray to free the
people. Go right and crouch to continue. Wait for the water jets to stop
flowing before crossing them. When you come across a few steam jets, wait for
them to stop flowing and then cross them. While you are doing so, climb up the
centre walls to find a flower.
Crouch right and go past the water jets. Jump up once and crouch left to avoid
getting hurt by the armoured knights. Press R to free the person. Whenever
you free a person, her location will serve as a Check Point. Go back and jump
up twice. Head past the steam jets and the armoured knights.
Jump up and crouch right. Go past the water jets and jump up again. Crouch
left and watch out for the spiders. Wait for them to crawl up before crouching
past them. Free the person and crouch left. Drop down and free another
person. Watch out for a spider as you do so. Jump on the walls to leave this
area.
Crouch left and climb up the walls. Free the person and jump up the platforms.
Go left and free another person. Now drop down and crouch left. When you
notice a steam jet on a wall, climb up the walls and drop down. Head past the
water jets and crouch left. Free the person and go back to where you freed
the previous one.
You should have freed 6 people at this point, so there's only one more left.
When you reach the top, crouch right. Drop down and go past the armoured
knights. Free the person and exit this area. Jump up and enter the door to
complete the stage.

Stage 2: Analyze the clues

Objectives:

* Analyze the clues.
When the stage starts, you'll have to analyze the clues. Throw each out in the
correct tube by pressing the appropriate button. The clues that symbolize the
buttons are shown on the screen. L symbolises leaf, R paper, A screw, and B
cloth. You can ignore the design pattern, as it doesn't correspond to any
button. If you fail to press the correct buttons 3 times, you'll have to
restart the stage. When the timer counts down to zero, you'll complete this
stage.

Stage 3: Chase on the Highway

Objectives:

* Arrest Freaky Circus.
When the stage starts, use the +Control Pad to move the Antigravity Bike.
Avoid cars and trucks. Freaky Circus is driving the yellow truck. You must
lead him to the oil stains on the road in order to defeat him. Be careful not
to touch the oil yourself. Freaky Circus will shoot lasers at you. Move up
and down to dodge them. When you've lead him into the oil stains 3 times,
you'll complete the stage.

4.04 - CHAPTER 4: A LOVELY SINGER
===============================================================================
Jerry informs Sam, Clover and Alex that a mysterious fan wants to steal Ricky
Mathis' voice, so he sends the spies to protect him.
Objectives:
-----------
* Succeed in dance evaluation.
When the stage starts, Phil Jenkins will instruct you to dance. There are two
series of dance steps. Press the correct button in the heart to dance. If you
miss one, you will fall. If all three spies fall, the curtain will fall and
you'll need to restart the current series of steps. Good luck. Each series
serves as a Check Point. The first series is easy to finish, but the second
one is hard. Since the second has two rows of steps occurring at the same
time, I advise concentrating on one button at a time. Try not to get
frustrated. Keep trying, and don't give up. Remember, practice makes perfect!
Objectives:
-----------
* Escape from the panic room.
When you gain control of Sam, you must observe the path and step through it
correctly to avoid getting caught. Step east 3 times, north 3 times, west 3
times, north 12 times, and east 10 times. Hack the computer and press the
buttons that appear on the screen. Whenever you hack a computer, its location
will serve as a Check Point.
When you gain control of Clover, step east 3 times, south 8 times, west 2
times, south 3 times, and east 9 times. Hack the computer and press the
buttons. When you gain control of Alex, watch out for a robot. If you touch
the robots or lasers here, you must restart from your last Check Point, so be
careful. Head right and hack the computer to the right of Clover. Press the
buttons to continue.
When the robot leaves the area, enter it and you'll see moving publicity panels
of Ricky Mathis. You must go up while keeping Alex in alignment with the
panels. Otherwise, you'll be spotted by a camera. Hack the computer to jam
the camera and switch off one laser.
When you regain control of Clover, go to where Alex is and head left. Hack the
computer to switch off another laser. Watch out for a robot. When you regain
control of Sam, go to where Clover is and proceed left to find a flower. Now
head right and go through the maze. Watch out for 4 robots. When a laser
blocks your progress, wait for a moment to see an opening. If you walk through
it quickly, you'll avoid touching the laser. Hack the computer at the end to
complete the stage.

Stage 3: Defeat Phil Jenkins

Objectives:

* Escape from the avalanche.
* Arrest Phil Jenkins.
When the stage starts, Jerry tells you to avoid obstacles as hitting them will
slow you down and damage your Snowmobile. After a while, you'll see ammunition
for your Ice Tornado Blast. Pick them up, and fire at Phil Jenkins. Press A
to fire. You don't have a lot of ammo, so make each shot count. When you
score a hit against him, he'll flash for a moment. You can't hit him while
he's flashing, so wait a while before attacking him again. Whenever you pass a
cliff, it will serve as a Check Point. You must hit Phil Jenkins 10 times to
complete the stage. When you do so, you'll unlock the final chapter: Kiwi-Kiki
In Danger.

4.05 - CHAPTER 5: KIWI-KIKI IN DANGER
===============================================================================
Jerry sends Sam, Clover and Alex to Kiwi-Kiki, the most beautiful paradise
island on Earth for their vacation. There's a catch though. Terence Lewis has
planned to awaken every volcano on Earth, and he's decided to begin with
Kiwi-Kiki volcano, so the spies must catch him before they can start to enjoy
their vacation. Like Chapter 1, this chapter's ending has a twist which isn't
immediately apparent.

Stage 1: Neutralize the 6 bombs

* Find and neutralize the 6 bombs in the submarine cave.
When the stage starts, Jerry informs you that you can move the Submarine with
the +Control Pad and use torpedoes by pressing A. Go down and then right. Use
a torpedo to destroy the wall in front of you. Don't worry about running out
of torpedoes; you have an infinite supply of them. Follow the path to find a
bomb. Hack it and leave this area. Whenever you hack a bomb in this stage, it
will serve as a Check Point. Head right and destroy the wall.
Take out the orange mines and continue onward. Head north and then left to
find a bomb. Hack it and go back. Proceed south and use torpedoes to destroy
the enemy Submarines. They can fire their own torpedoes at you, so watch out.
Go left and then south. Jerry tells you that a Smart torpedo has attached
itself to your Submarine. Press the buttons to release it before it explodes.
Proceed left to find a bomb. Hack it and head right. After a scene, you'll
have to dodge torpedoes from an enemy Submarine. You can't destroy the
Submarine, so keep dodging them until the timer counts down to zero. If you go
to the bottom right, you'll dodge all the torpedoes, since the enemy never
fires any there.
Head right and you'll see three moving walls. You must fire a torpedo through
them to destroy the wall nearby. After doing so, go right and then down.
After taking out an orange mine and an enemy Submarine, proceed left and hack
the bomb at the end. Now head north and then left. When a Smart torpedo
attaches itself to your Submarine, press the buttons to release it.
Destroy the two orange mines and head north. Go left and then down. When you
come across a lot of green mines, move your Submarine carefully past them. You
can't use torpedoes to destroy them, so be careful, as they can hurt you. When
you confront an enemy Submarine, you'll have to dodge the torpedoes again.
Fortunately, you can still go to the bottom right to avoid them.
Head right and destroy the wall. Go north and then right. Follow the path.
When you see a few enemy Submarines, proceed north and go past the green mines.
A Smart torpedo will attach itself to your Submarine; press the buttons to
release it. Go left and confront an enemy Submarine. Stay in the bottom left
to avoid the torpedoes. Afterwards, head past the green mines and hack the
bomb nearby. Continue past the green and orange mines. When you reach the
end, hack the last bomb and go north to complete the stage.

Stage 2: Find the bomb

Objectives:

* Find the bomb.
When the stage starts, go right and ride the conveyor belt. Watch out for the
pounding pistons as you do so. Whenever you ride a conveyor belt in this
stage, wait for each piston to rise up before continuing onward. If a piston
pounds the floor and hits you, you'll get hurt, so be careful. Since a
conveyor belt moves you towards the pistons, go in the opposite direction to
avoid getting hurt when they pound the floor.
Wall-jump and double-jump right. Hack the computer to turn off the lasers.
Whenever you hack a computer in this stage, it will serve as a Check Point,
until Alex triggers a time limit of 3 minutes later on. Head left and hop
across the platforms. When you reach the switched off lasers, drop down to
the left and hack the computer. This flips the western platforms, so you can
cross them now.
Jump up the platforms and go right. When you notice three flipping platforms,
you'll have to jump up them quickly to avoid falling into the lava. If you
fall into it, you'll get hurt, so be careful. Wait for the platforms to stop
flipping before going up them immediately. Head right and hop across the
platforms. Grab the pipe and move across it.
Drop down and go left. The platforms will rise and lower themselves, so you
must be quick when you cross them. After hopping across, drop down and hack
the computer to turn off the lasers. Alex thinks that she has made a mistake
and warns you that in 3 minutes, everything is going to explode! You now have a
time limit of 3 minutes to complete this stage. If you fail to do this, you'll
restart from this computer.
Go right and wall-jump. Watch out for the lasers as you do so. Head left and
ride the conveyor belt. When you reach the end, double-jump left to find a
flower. Now go right and move across the pipe. Beware of the steam jets
flowing through it. Drop down and hack the computer. Proceed left and hop
across the moving platforms. Climb the ladder to complete the stage.
When the stage starts, Sam informs you that the Armored Robot will protect you
against the radiation. You can jump by pressing A and crouch by pressing Down
to avoid getting hit by the two laser cannons. Kick back the bombs Terence
sends at you by pressing B. Crouch to dodge the lasers from the top laser
cannon, and jump to avoid the ones from the bottom cannon.
After dodging a few lasers, a grabber device will drop an orange bomb onto the
ground. Move back and forth to avoid being hit by the bomb when the grabber
drops it. Kick back the bomb towards Terence's machine. When it detonates,
you'll score a hit and destroy the bottom laser cannon in the process. Some
bombs will explode when they land on the ground, so watch out. These bombs are
dark orange (you should be able to identify them by sight).
When you hit Terence's machine once, the grabber will fire a laser underneath
itself at different times from this point, so go back and forth to dodge it.
Your best bet is to stay on the left side of the screen, so you'll have an
easier time avoiding lasers from the grabber and the top cannon. You must hit
Terence's machine 3 times to complete the stage.
When the stage starts, you'll have to stop Terence, who is flying away in his
escape capsule. You must move back and forth to dodge the rockets that
Terence fires at you. You must also avoid the cliffs. When you see R appear
on the capsule, press the button repeatedly to land on top of it. Press the
buttons on the screen to hit Terence. Ignore the smoke that is now coming from
the capsule, since it can't hurt you. It can make it harder to see when a
rocket is being fired at you, though. Each time you hit Terence, it will serve
as a Check Point. You must hit him 3 times to finish the stage and complete
the game.
After doing so, you can see the ending and watch the credits. Congratulations
on beating Totally Spies! Once the credits end, the Title Screen will appear
and you can load your saved game. You can re-play the stages to find any
flowers you've missed during your first play through. Each time you find a
flower, your progress will be automatically saved, so you can exit the stage
immediately. This is useful if you don't want to complete the stages again.

Q: I'm stuck on Stage 2 of Chapter 5. Where is the last bomb?
A: Read the Walkthrough again. If you can't find a bomb, you've probably
missed it on your way through the stage. Make sure to check everywhere to
find the bombs.
Q: I've completed the game. Can I re-play stages to find the flowers?
A: Yes. Each time you find a flower, your progress will be automatically
saved, so you can exit the stage immediately. This is useful if you don't
want to complete the stages again.
Q: I can't find the flowers. Where are they?
A: The flowers can be found in Stage 2 of Chapter 1, Stage 3 of Chapter 2,
Stage 1 of Chapter 3, Stage 2 of Chapter 4, and Stage 2 of Chapter 5. Check
the Walkthrough for the locations of the flowers.
