I. Introduction
---------------
Okie, let's get one thing straight. I know little to NO kanji or Japanese. I
learn all I know from anime, manga, a few from my friends that take classes.
If you have any info to help out this FAQ, you will receive credit. So I can
not type out the character's ninJutsus etc. Or the names of items, but they
weren't needed by me throughout the entire game. Also visit other people for
help on deciphering them better unless I managed to get a submition.
The reason I wrote this is cuz, well... There weren't any others out in
English going past the Zabuza Fight(s) at the time. And I was getting real
tired of repeated postings on the gamefaqs board. So hear I am to write a full
FAQ. If you need any other help I have email:

I got through the end of the first test of the Chuunin Exam. And managed to fix
the indent problems I had with version 0.5 so this one was published on
gamefaqs.com as of January 1st. I also added a table of contents which tells all
the features I will be getting to after the walkthrough is finished.

III. Walkthrough
----------------
Kakashi's Training (1)
----------------------
The story starts out; Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura are waiting for Kakashi-
sensei to come. You are now in the Training Grounds. Naruto will set up a trap
and Kakashi will fall for it (litterally). Anyways, lots of talking. After
the cutscene, you will be in control of Naruto. For help on battling and what
the words mean visit that section of the FAQ. Just mostly kill them with the
kunai. 2 Hits will do. Head South past the rocks (can't break yet) and at the
fork take a right. And get the treasure, from there head north to reach the
Konoha Mark. This thing automatically replenishes all of your HP, Chakra, and
Status Ailments are gone (except for a future event to Sasuke). So just fight
around and level up until you are satisfied. Just head east to reach a
cutscene followed by a battle with Kakashi. He will dodge all your attacks
etc. And then finish you off with a 999 attack. No resisting that. Naruto then
will fight back, but it is rendered useless, and it is time for the second
part.
Kakashi's Training (2)
----------------------
Now you are in charge of Sakura. She is weaker than Naruto so the fights may
be longer. So first thing is first. Head north and then at the fork go east
and continue passing up a patch of rocks. While heading south, there's a
treasure at the end. Then backtrack a little bit to the crossroad heading
west. There's the Konoha Mark, so train and when you are ready head south to
fight Kakashi. You will get Sasuke to help you fight (not the real one
obviously). You are defeated once Kakashi kills Sasuke and Sakura can't go on.
Kakashi's Training (3)
----------------------
Now it's time to get serious, with the most serious Genin; Sasuke! He is much
easier to level up alone than Naruto and Sakura, but don't get cocky. So head
South and keep following this path (it's rather straightforward from here).
You'll then find the mark so level up and get ready for Kakashi (this one you
have to be serious for). Now be sure to start off the fight with his
Goukyakyuu, Fire no Jutsu (10). And then he should die the next round or the
one after.
After the fight, you find out he was fake and the bell is rung. So time is up,
and you find Naruto tied up while Sasuke and Sakura get to eat. Blah Blah
Blah. If you read the manga or saw the show, this should look familiar.
They offer Naruto their food and he accepts (or declines at your choice).
Kakashi will get enraged and attack the group. So now it's serious. Use
Naruto's Kage Bushin no Jutsu (7), Sasuke's abilities, and Sakura's Lvl1
ability (9) followed by her destructive jutsus. If you took time to lvl up,
he'll be defeated quick, if you didn't then he still will be defeated quickly.
After the fight you pass :P. Congratz first obstacle has been overcome, you
now are a genin. Training now is really just a waste, so head west and leave
the Training Grounds for Konoha.
Konoha
------
First building that you come to is the ramen shop, so go in to trigger the
next cutscene. So after that, exit the shop. One building to the north (right
above it) is the weapons and armor shop. You can't buy much good gear yet, but
sell what you got. And buy later. So now head North to the next prefecture.
There head north across the bridge into the school. Head up the school and to
the right door by the guard. Then head to the first door to the east to reach
the mission room. And you will receive your genin stature. All the A, B, C, D
mission rank is explained. After leave heading south past your fellow
classmates. But don't leave the prefecture, instead at the edge head East and
then north by the female ninja thats walking around across the bridge. Enter
the big red house to receive a mission to protect the Scroll.
Finding Konohamaru
------------------
While you are guarding the scroll, you will see Konohamaru come and steal the
scroll so you're off to find the lil' sucker. So leave here, and follow this
the best you can. Okie as you leave the house, talk to that lady waundering
around. She saws that she saw him around the school. So head there and talk to
the ninja outside, he saw Konohamaru by the mission office. So enter the
school, and as if you are headed to the office (before entering the
door to the right) talk to the guard standing there. He saws he saw him around
the Ramen shop, so head there now. To the right of the Ramen shop is a man
dressed in orange (looks like a bandit) talk to him. He saws he saw
Konohamaru by the Movies (Cinema), so head to the East Prefecture and you'll
find the Naruto Movie Poster. Talk to the guy standing there. Then exit that
part of town back to where the Ramen Shop and the Items Shops are
located. You will find Konohamaru's box following you. (If he isn't there then
just retry, this part can be very difficult). Once he's following you, head to
the North Prefecture and Konohamaru will leave.
Now head outside of Konoha and into the Training Grounds. Here just head
through it normally until you meet up with Konohamaru. You'll have to fight
his sensei, Ebisu, but he shouldn't be too hard, right? So after the fight
head back to Konoha and into the Mission Office. And you'll receive your
reward and be found the next day in Naruto's house.
Lion Training
-------------
Head outside and head to the Missions Office in the School. Then head outside
of town and into the Forest and train for a bit entering and leaving back to
town to get healed. If you can't afford the best weapons and armor (sakura's
fan and sasuke's chain) then it also means that you should stay and level up.
A good range is from 5-7, but it's always livable earlier or later. You can
pick up Sakura's fan in a treasure in this area so at least buy Sasuke the
chain and then Naruto a new Kunai. Stay to the right and head north, you'll
find a treasure so keep heading right. And right by the lake will be 2 more
chests the one on the left is the fan. Easy enough to get for your training.
Head back and reheal and finish your shopping. Then go back to the forest and
head north on the other side of the trees. And you'll find lots of chests.
Keep following the path till the end (there's a rock there) and head east
across the bridge. Keep heading east get the chest at the end and then head
south following this to the next screen.
On this part you will run into bigger black snakes in your encounters. These
guys are pretty resistant to your physical attacks, so use Sasuke's Goukayu,
Fire no Jutsu wisely. You will notice treasures atop of hills, but you cannot
get these yet so head to the topright corner and enter the next screen.
Now head all the way east. The last path leading north (before the long trail)
has a chest that gives you some faster shoes (2 more). Then get that item and
head your way back and head for the northern path this time. And head east
across the little lake with rocks and you will then find the Konoha mark. That
means the boss and your final training before it.
When you enter this next area (remember this one of the scrolls later is
located here, but I'll relocate you here later) you will see a cutscene (btw
where'd Kakashi-sensei come from?). After this cutscene, the boss battle
against the lion begins. Use your best skill as Sasuke (probably still the
fire one), Naruto should use his Kage Bunshin no Jutsu (7 chakra) and then
just melee the fight casting Heals when needed, and Sakura should use her Lvl
1 skill (9 chakra) to help speed her up and use damaging ninjutsus. It really
shouldn't be a hard battle if you weren't having trouble getting here. Now
after the battle you will notice Kakashi (hiding) and then you will need to
make it all the way back to town from here. First though go in the house and
get the Come-Come Paradise (there's many names in english for this) DVD and
to the right of the house for another chest. To the left is where a future
important item is. Go to the mission room and end the mission with a 1200
reward and end the day.
Bandits in the Mountains
------------------------
Begin the day like any other and go to the missions office. And a long
cutscene you'll be given a mission to defeat a couple of bandits up in the
mountains. It's a long and treacherous journey if you haven't fully gotten
used to keeping a chakra reserve. Perhaps now you will be able to buy the
best gear for everyone with the money you earn from the fights. Now
everyone should be close to 10 until you attempt to make it through this
path the whole way. You may also want to stock up on items that can be
used to replenish your HP and Chakra.
To begin this place is pretty straight forward and with lots ogf random
encounters to my experience. So just continue and get the chests if you
feel you have the endurance. The exit is to the topright. And you'll be
in the next screen. Head down the cliff and around the west of the cliff
with a chest ontop. If you're up to it, backtrack ontop of the mountain
to get the chest there. This last screen is the last one until the Konoha
mark. So... live till then. You may want to stay by this until Naruto has
reached 15 and Sasuke and Sakura have passed 10 (a note: on my file I
had Naruto 15, Sasuke 12, Sakura 13 for the boss fight). Now for this
fight, just be prepared, it shouldn't be too hard to take on. For Naruto
use the Kage Bunshin no Jutsu or if you have the chakra (unlocked) then
use the MASS version (50 chakra rather than 7). For Sasuke use the Shadow
Shuriken (40 chakra). If you do this jutsu with Naruto powered up you
will notice that before you get to "choose" target that you now can pick
a 40 and 25 move. The 25 is the technique that Naruto and Sasuke use to
beat a later opponent in the manga/anime. I would use the team version but
it's up to the user. The 25 only will come from Sasuke. Then use the single
targeted Fire technique (4 chakra). Sakura should use her level 1 ninJutsu
and then heal all when needed (6 chakra). Always use Naruto's heal as a
last resort if needed.
After the fight you will pick up the flower that you needed for the
mission and then have to make it down to the village from there. Once you
get to town go to the missions office and do the usual. You will be
dismissed and rewarded 1200. Then it's the next day so head to the
missions office.
Into the Water Country
----------------------
Welcome to a C rank mission. Fans of the anime/manga should know what is
ahead of them. Anyways... And old man comes and insults Naruto by pretty
much calling him a kid and that he can't be a ninja. So he gets
infuriated but Kakashi-sensei stops him. Well for this mission Kakashi
will be lending you a hand. He is controlled by an AI that you shouldn't
rely on in battle, but his heal jutsus are nice to use inbetween. So stock
up for a long journey (you can revisit the city after each portion of the
mission). There's only a new kunai for Naruto. As for Sakura there is a new
Fan, and Sasuke gets no new weapon at all. (I buy kunai for Naruto, fans
for Sakura, and chains for Sasuke). Armor wise there is a new piece of
clothing and pear of boots for Sasuke and Sakura, but nothing for Naruto.
After you are all set for part 1 of this mission, then speak to that old
man near the main gate of town. Then head to the new area, the Plains of
the Fire Country.
In this area I will guide you to get everything, since you should have
the excess chakra to do so nowon. At the first big area head east and up
the first northern path and get all those chests. Then head back and
head south (there's a cliff that you can't go down "Yet" but soon. Keep
heading eastwards and you'll notice 2 guard nins. First head south and
get the chest then go through the gate and head east. In this new area,
head east always taking the north path and you will reach another set
of gate ninjas.
In this area is a cutscene. (I will brief on it) Kakashi realizes that
this should not be a C rank but rather a bit pricey B rank mission. Now
heal at this mark and head east. About midway through this new area,
across the bridge and stuff (remember this spot for a future item),
you will be thrown into a boss battle. It comes right by those trees and
stumps by this extra Konoha mark. They are two ninjas that will poison
the target. They instantly will deal 999 damage to Kakashi. In this fight
just let Naruto get poisoned etc and die. Kakashi will fight again and
defeat the two ninjas and Sasuke and Sakura will gain some extra exp.
After the battle they will be tied to the tree (were the creators
trying to hide that chest behind the tree? haha). Like mentioned before,
Kakashi will say it is a B rank mission and that he was waiting to see
who theyre target was. He says that they will have to go back to town
to heal Naruto's poison, but Naruto refuses and stabs himself (its
shown in the big light) and mentions something similar to "I won't run
away. I swear it upon this pain in my hand." (Please excuse bad
translations, as I mentioned in the intro that I am not so great). You
will then be back to full status. Get the chest then head south to the
next area.
In this area head south and then east to the gate and an old lady says
that she lost her cat. "wtf! there's so many!" You must be saying but
it is quite easy, head to the west and at the southwest corner is a
black cat. That's the one she is missing. So pick the cat up and go
talk to the lady again. Heal then leave. Head to Konoha if you want to
restock (nothing new in stock) then head to the Water Country. So far
all you have is the bridge. So enter it. Learn the reason that you are
to protect Mr. Tasuna while he builds it from Gato. Then leave and the
Swamplands are revealed so head there.
The Swamplands
--------------
Now you are in the swamp. Kakashi is still in your party and it's good
since he uses his thunder ninjutsus quite often. Head all the way to
the west. Then head north and get the chest. Head all the way east and
then south to get a chest, then head north to the next screen. Head west
(remember this area for a later item) and then north. Then head east
staying north until the chest with the shuriken (not the two across the
water these are items you'll need near the end, what I am hinting at).
Then enter the next screen.
Here head south then keep heading east. At the first trail leading south,
take it and follow it around to get a chest. Backtrack back and this time
keep continuing east. Then you will be in the next screen. Head south and
then west to go through another screen and find a chest. Backtrack to the
last screen and across the two bridges. Heal and then prepare for a fight.
In this screen, Naruto will start bragging and throwing his shuriken then
you will be attacked. By none other than... duhm duhm duhm... Zabuza
"Demon". Kakashi will use his Sharingan. And the 3 genins get to a
defensive postition around the old man. Everything is very familiar with
the anime and manga so I won't bother summarizing this. In this battle,
you can go a bit easier since Kakashi is here, but don't let that hold
you back since he doesn't get any smarter. I'd have Naruto use his Kage
Bunshin, Sasuke use the Lion Kick Combo (55) assuming you've leveled high
enough, and Sakura to do what she has been doing. After you win (if you
do what I said then it should be easy enough), Kakashi is cut but was a
bunshin. Kakashi then gets behind Zabuza whom ended up being a Mizu
Bunshin (Water Clone). Then Kakashi gets behind THAT Zabuza...
(confusing, yes it is.) Then Zabuza will trap Kakashi. He will create
another Mizu Bunshin that fights you. In this fight (no you aren't healed
at all) there will be 2 Zabuzas the one in front is a clone which can be
defeated easier, but Zabuza can just remake it. So aim mostly for the one
in back that is trapping Kakashi. Once enough damage is dealt Kakashi will
be freed, hit Zabuza, and then return to you line. Zabuza will do a
Water Dragon and Kakashi will Counter it using the same tech. (no fear it
doesn't hit you). Kakashi then uses a genJutsu type esque and uses the
Ultimate Wave attack that Zabuza was planning to use. The fight is
finnally over, congratulations.
Now a hidden character behind a mask throws an acupuncture needle and
"kills" Zabuza. He will take away Zabuza from you, and you are invited
to the old man's house. So head east to exit the swamps (Kakashi
isn't in your party now). In this screen head east and at the end is a
chest to the south. Now head north then west then north again, after
all of this you will be out of the swamp. So head to the Village and
heal at the Konoha mark (anyone else think it is odd here?).
Inari and the Tree Climbing
---------------------------
When you enter town head west on the bridge and into the first house.
A cutscene will occur in which you find out that the Masked Man
happened to be helping Zabuza and his name is Haku. Then Kakashi will
explain the reason why he thinks that Zabuza may very much still be
alive and then is interrupted by little Inari. He runs to his room after
pissin' Naruto off about saying that noone is able to beat Gato.
Next you will be in the swamps and be lectured on climbing... "Walls?".
Now you can do it by pressing "A" by a mountain, so you can backtrack
through every area to get the items now or later. It's up to you really.
For the fast way out of here, head south to meet Kakashi-sensei and he'll
ask if you are ready. The top answer is No and the bottom is Yes.
After you say that another cutscene happens and then you will be
abandoned overnight in the swamp, and you will then find a person there.
He says that he is a guy and then Sasuke and Sakura come walking in as
he exits. After this Sasuke and Sakura will rejoin you, so head south
and then return to Inari's house.
In Inari's house another scene occurs in which you learn about Inari's
past. Read the manga or watch the anime to find out. Put vaguely his
stepfather was killed by Gato and when that happened he went into major
depression and the town lost all their courage and became the poor
country that it is now. Naruto yells at Inari. Inari runs off and then
his grandpa and mother run after him. He will return and Kakashi will
mention that Naruto knows how Inari feels the best. And that one day he
must have just gotten fed up with crying. This encourages Inari and then
he leaves again. Then everyone will return. Pick the bottom option to
continue with the story, or push the top if you want to train before the
next big battle.
Zabuza Returns!
---------------
Naruto wakes up and notices that everyone left him behind, he then runs off
after them. Then the base is attacked by some of Gato's minions. They will
take Inari's mom hostage, and Inari can only stand their in fear. He
overcomes it though and then next thing you know, Naruto shows up in the
nick of time. So battle will commence. Just use the Kage Bunshin and attack,
use the chakra that remains to replenish your HP. They really are just
measly pushovers as long as Naruto is well equipped and trained. Naruto will
acknowledge Inari etc and then rush back off to find the rest of the gang
because he fears the worst.
Now the rest of the group is walking through the swamp and you will take
lead as Sasuke but Kakashi is helping you out. Continue through the swamp
to exit it completely. Or do it the cheap way (like what I'm doing for
this guide) use Kakashi's warp ninjutsu. (it's the 2 chakra at the very
bottom). Of course if you feel you need or WANT that exp then by all means
go for it, since it never would hurt. Anyways you want to leave the swamp
and get to the bridge. But if you need more items to help you out then by
all means make the trip back to Konoha (no new weapons or armor).
Alright now you are going to have to head east up the bridge. Then head
west to get past these boxes and then head east to reach the next screen
of the bridge. Now head east and south down that little set of stairs. And
you will continue it eastward then up that set of steps to get past all
the rubbage and then head east to reach the Konoha mark and the next screen.
Tazuna will then notice his fallen comrades. And then the screen will be
covered in mist. Guess who's back from hell. Zabuza will then start
insulting the group noticing that there is one missing and another is
shivering. Sasuke will make a comback and then annihilate the Mizu Bunshins.
Zabuza and the masked fighter will appear stage left. They will surround
you and be thrown into and attack. So from the Leaf Sasuke, Sakura, and
Kakashi and from the Mist Zabuza and Identity Unkown.
This is a rather easy battle, survive a little bit and then your battle
will be interrupted and the battle screen will vanish. Uzumaki Naruto will
show up the "Show Stopper". Naruto and Sasuke will be seperated from the
rest. So they will have to fight the Masked one alone. Kakashi will order
Sakura to protect Tazuna. Now for the Genin's battle. Of course it goes all
wrong. He will target Naruto and kill him. Then a conversation undergoes
in which Sasuke uses his "SHARINGAN" to get in the way of the masked
fighter's final blow on Naruto. And as the 999 damage is dealt to Sasuke
he will counter with his own 999 and defeating the enemy but will then
pay the price.
Naruto gets pissed and unleashes the Fox Demon's Chakra and starts going
crazy at the masked fighter. And battle begins again. Just melee him till
you win or use a Kage Bunshin and melee whichever you prefer. But either
way none of your attacks will use chakra so if you need to get the
healing and just toy around him. Naruto will attack him and will break
the mask, revealing that it was Haku the boy that he met the other day in
the forest (swamp). He then loses it and becomes hesistant of killing him.
Then he will retreat from the battle to help protect (sacrifice) himself
for Zabuza from Kakashi's own move that he created. The battle from that
point on, is halted... finished...
Gato appears to break the moment. And starts insulting and kicking the
already dead Haku. Which angers Naruto but Kakashi stops him. He then
gets mad at Zabuza saying stuff like "He admired you-! He gave up his
life to make you happy!" Zabuza then tells Naruto in a "touchy" way to
"Please stop, boy". After realizing that he has no more reason to fight
Kakashi or to live then he attacks Gato bringing him down to hell with
him.
Sakura will be mourning the loss of Sasuke, when Sasuke arises from an
unconscious state. There's the happy moment and then the bandits and
theives and such threaten to break through you and loot the city. So
beat one set of enemies (easy). Then Inari and the villagers will show
up. Naruto then uses his Kage Bunshin. Kakashi soon follows saying that
he may still have the chakra for a bluff and makes 6 bunshins. They run
off and problem resolved. The villagers rejoice and Kakashi walks over
to see Zabuza. He is still barely alive and asks to be moved next to Haku.
It snows and then Zabuza says something touching and bidding farewell to
Haku since he deserves to go to a better place. Kakashi then says something
like "No Zabuza, go see him there together." The snow will stop and the
squad will decide to head back.
The villagers and everyone bid farewell. They decide to call it the
"Naruto Bridge" to help bring courage to their village. As the group
leaves the town and country to return back to Konoha. Head back home and
into the mission's office to report the results and receive 3500.
Congratulations! Mission Accomplished!
To the Chuunin Exams!
---------------------
Wake up and head for the missions office. Now let's get some new gear.
Naruto should already have the strongest sword equipped so nothing for
him. I'd buy Sakura the new 10k fan. Sasuke should get the new sword,
shuriken, kunai, or chain whichever you prefer. I personnally would buy
him the chain to equip and bring the sword for when you fight bosses.
Now head to the eastern prefecture. And head east and north at the first
path and continue across the bridge and into Kakashi's house. The group
will decide that to get Kakashi up in time they would put an alarm clock
in his room. Sasuke will leave and you now are only Naruto and Sakura.
Head back to the missions exam to speak with Iruka-semsei (to the hokage's
right). Then leave Konoha and enter the Training Grounds (the first area
of the game). And go to the right. Konohamaru will be hiding and then
come out. You will then be ambushed by Sand Ninjas.
Naruto should use the Kage Bunshin and Sakura to use the "Inner Sakura"
Ability and then help heal or damage Jutsus. Sasuke will then throw a
shuriken to help save you. And then Gaara comes and challenges Sasuke,
ignoring Naruto and pissing him off. The Sand ninjas leave while soon
following the group. As they leave Sound ninjas appear and next thing you
know you are back in Naruto's house. So head out and towards the bridge
in the eastern prefecture to meet up with Sasuke and Sakura. Of course
Kakashi isn't there still, but he comes bearing news. That chunnin exam
that you heard about from the Sand ninjas is offered to the group.
Sakura is a bit unsure if she really wants to though.
Head to the school (mission's office). And a cutscene will begin. You
will now meet another Konoha squad and Lee. He challenges Sasuke to a
fight and ignores Naruto, thus pissing him off again. Naruto fights
him anyway but is easily knocked away by Lee's Konoha Senpuu (Konoha
Whirlwind). Sasuke will enter battle against Lee. I used the Sharingan
and followed with a Lion Kick Combo and Lee was defeated in that one hit
that dealt 250. Lee will begin to unleash the Primary Lotus on Sasuke but
is interrupted by an unknown figure, Gai-sensei (also referred to as
"Guy" but I will call him "Gai"). He mentions his rivalry with Kakashi
and proves he is strong then vanishes. Lee swears to beat Sasuke in the
Chuunin Exams and then leaves.
Head up the eastern stairs and through the door and head north in here
to reach a cutscene. Kakashi will wish the best of luck to the 3. When
you enter in, Ino will begin to smother Sasuke, angering Sakura. Then
Shikamaru and Chouji will come and insult Naruto and such. Then the rest
of the genins arrive. Thus assembling all 9 of the graduates. An older
Konoha genin comes named Kabuto. He explains all the ropes around the
joint.
Chuunin Exams Test 1
--------------------
You don't really DO anything, but I'll brief on what goes on. Anyways
the person in charge here is Morino Ibiki. He explains the information
behind the 10th question. Now to get the questions right you must put
in the right combination so I will list what they are below.

On a side note, why is there two 10th questions? Anyways then the 10th
question is given. If you ever don't finish one of those questions
then just speak with Ibiki and you'll do it again. Read the manga or
watch anime for what the final question is like. I brief that it gets
rid of anyone that isn't confident enough. Then lots of Kunai will
rain down in a circle and the proctor for the next part of the exam

I would like to start out by thanking the following individual people:

himself) to fix my indent problems. If it wasn't for you then this FAQ
wouldn't even be here and I would've quit long ago in frustration.
