Dragoon Might FAQ v1.01

INTRODUCTION
************

Dragoon Might is a one on one 2D fighting game by Konami from 1995. The game is
excellent but fairly obscure. I couldn't find an FAQ anywhere so decided to
make one myself. In making this FAQ I had a lot of help from Plexosolarasolus.
My hope is that for people starting out playing the game this FAQ will make
things a little easier. If you enjoy this game as much as I do then why not try
playing it online using kaillera with either Mame 32++ 0.117 or 0.119.


STORY
*****

According to legend the one who collects all the pieces of the Dragon Medallion
which are scattered across the world can have any wish granted. To become
rich, famous, powerful or even to have eternal life are all possible. Each
character has a piece so to obtain the dragon medallion you must defeat them
all and then face the final encounter against Dogma who is also seeking the
medallion.


GAMEPLAY BASICS
***************

Basic Moves
-----------

Each character has three different strengths of punches and kicks just like in
Street Fighter 2. All characters are armed with weapons except Kodama and the
boss Dogma. Characters can be temporarily disarmed but moving next to the
weapon and pressing any punch or kick button allows it to be retrieved.

Press up to jump. Some characters can wall jump i.e. jump up and then jump
again from the side of the screen.

Press down to duck.

Press backward to move backwards and also to block attacks.

Press forward to move forward.

Press forward twice to dash in that direction.

Press backward twice to jump backwards.

Press towards the opponent plus either medium punch, heavy punch, medium kick
or heavy kick to throw them. Some characters have a grab attack as well as a
throw. Certain characters can perform mid-air throws.

Press up and any punch button simultaneously to attack an opponent who is
lying on the ground.

Press the punch buttons rapidly while holding left or right when lying on the
ground to make a quick recovery. The faster you press the punch buttons the
faster you will recover. You will roll left or right depending on which
direction you hold.

Hang Points
-----------

Pressing any two kick buttons simultaneously allows your character to swing
from tree branches, ropes, pipes, etc. depending on the background stage.
This is basically a way of dodging an attack. Holding left or right while
swinging from the hang point allows your character to drop to the ground
more quickly. It is also possible to reach very high by pressing up while
swinging from the hang point. Aerial special moves can be performed at any
height.

Single or Team mode
-------------------

At the start of the game there are two modes of gameplay to choose from:
single mode where only one character is used or team mode where three
characters are chosen. Team mode works in a similar way to that found in The
King of Fighters series by Snk. In team mode there is a power meter at the
bottom of the screen which gradually fills as a character takes damage. When
the meter is full a Final Attack can be used.

Super Attacks (Bomber)
----------------------

All Super Attacks are performed by pressing any two punch buttons
simultaneously. They can be used at any time except if you have very little of
your lifebar remaining. Each time a Super Attack is used part of your lifebar
is drained.

Final Attacks (Super Bomber)
----------------------------

Final Attacks can only be performed under these circumstances: you are low on
energy and therefore your lifebar is flashing and/or your power meter is either
full or draining. If a Final Attack is used when the lifebar is flashing but
the power meter is not full then part of your lifebar is drained.

Sarumaru
--------

Although the medallion's power has gone, Sarumaru has rescued the monkey's
mountain.

He runs about in monkey mountain with his friends. There is peace in the
mountains.

"No matter who comes, I will protect you all! I'm the king of the apes!"


Zack
----

(Zack looks up at the sky)

"It seems impossible to change the world. Everything has changed too much."

"... alright, we did our best. The only thing we can do now is go back to
our place that we call home."

"Got to go. Thanks Zack... thank you so much."

"Home?.. Yes, I have to return as well. My mother must be waiting!"


Jaoh
----

(Jaoh clad in golden armour with warriors in the background)

Even though Jaoh has become the most powerful, he is not satisfied.

"Listen, all you fighters out there! You medallion holders!"

"Come and defeat me!"

He has realised that only fighting is his life.


Drake
-----

(Drake at his training hall)

Drake - the one who saved the world, is now back in his home land,
training his followers.

To ensure peace in this world, he continues his training.


Kodama
------

"Master! We are all doomed!"

"Damn!! How badly the situation turned out while I wasn't here!"

"I can't retreat now! I will not die alone, gotta take them with me! Come!"

"Raaaaaaaah!!"

Tekkamen
--------

.. now an update. there were marks of claws on the victims bodies of the
unsolved mysterious assassinations.
