1) REVISION HISTORY
Version 1.1 (2003/04/16)
a) I decided to write a faq about Buriki One because I like this game so
much.  In my opinion, this game was the best produced on the defunct
and not very well-known Hyper NeoGeo 64 Arcade System.  The game system
was very innovative for a fighting game at this time.  Sadly, I don't play
the game often and I don't know much about the character's individual
moves, but I decided to write a very simple faq like this one anyway.
However, my friend Tuska have plan to buy a Hyper NeoGeo 64 board with the
game.  So, I think I will play the game again soon enough.

2) INTRODUCTION
In the end of 1999, SNK decided to put some innovations in the fighting
games world.  The developers of this company, known for their awesome
fighting games, released a new kind of fighters on their Hyper NeoGeo 64
Arcade board.  This game is titled BURIKI ONE.

This game looks much like an Ultimate Fighting Championship Tournament,
with the special touch of SNK.  However, the developers changed the
recipe a lot.  In this game, you can't throw special moves with joystick
motions and buttons combinations.  Instead, movement of the joystick
performs your character's attacks, and a press of the buttons (two in all)
moves him.  Confusing?  Maybe at first, but every thing become easy with
practice.  Also, this game contains other new features like a Balance
Gauge, a Life Monitor, winner decided by judges, etc.

The graphics are excellent if you compare it to the other games on the
Hyper NeoGeo 64.  Probably the best SNK can offers on this board.  The
animation is smooth and runs at 60 fps.  The backgrounds looks like a mix
of 2D and 3D.  The music and the different sound effects are also very
good.  Also, each character's attacks are specific to their style.  Don't
forget that this game features Ryo Sakazaki of the Art of Fighting and
King of Fighters series.  You can also use Gai Tendou, a striker character
in KoF Evolution and KoF 2000.  All the other fighters are totally new in
the world of SNK.  Sadly, the game was not release on a major scale, like
all the other products on the Hyper NeoGeo 64 board.  A reason that
  probably explains its early demise.

3) STORY
It's spring 1999...  Fighters from across the world gather at the Tokyo
Dome to compete in the World Grapple Tournament. Each contender has there
own fighting discipline, ranging from the popular styles of boxing, karate
and pro wrestling, to the lesser known arts of aïkido, taï chi and
muay taï.  Finally, they have the chance to prove which martial art
  conquers all!

4) BASIC MOVEMENT
  --Joystick and Buttons--
Button A: Walk to the Left
Button B: Walk to the Right
Press button A twice: Forward Dash
Press button B twice: Back Jump
Press button A and B: Block

  Tap Down-Forward: Low Strike
  Tap Forward: Middle Strike
  Tap Up-Forward: High Strike

  Tap Down: Low Guard
  Tap High: High Guard

  Tap Down-Back: Low Dodge
  Tap Back: Middle Dodge
  Tap Up-Back: High Dodge

  --Special Moves--
The character's special moves are maked with standard joystick motions
like holding Back for a few second, then Forward, or with the
traditionnal motion included in fighting games in general (Dn,Df,Fd or
Fd,Dn,Df).  So, if you use Gai Tendou, you can make a circular kick by
doing Dn,Df,Fd with the joystick, or Jacques Ducalis' "osotogari" by
holding Back, then Forward.  I will put the different character's
special moves in a future release of this faq.

  --Balance Gauge--
Each character has a Balance Gauge in the bottom of the screen.  This
meter will help you to throw or to hold and immobilize your opponent.
The Balance Gauge has different length, depending of the character you
choose.  If your character's Balance Gauge its much shorter than your
opponent, it will be more easy for you to use holds or throws.  And
don't forget that if your opponent hold's attempt is succesful, you
must tap the buttons repeatedly to be release of his grip.

  --Life Monitor--
Instead of a life meter, each player have a Life Monitor on the top of
the screen.  This monitor shows your life line.  This line, white at
first, will slowly change after each hit you're taking.  When the line
turns red, the next hit taked will knocked you out.  So you have to be
  careful.

  --Judges' Decision--
During your match, if the timer reaches zero before a fighters is
defeated, three judges will decide of the winner.  So, you have to
score many points before the end of your fight.  About this, it's
possible to push your opponent or to be push out of the ring, but this
will only slow down the fight.  However, if your opponent takes you out
of the ring, this will cost you a lot of points and the judges will be
more demanding towards you after this.
