I've been looking into streaming music services lately and am
currently trying to decide between Apple Music and Spotify. These
are my current thoughts.
Apple Music | |
Pros: Integrated into my music and existing software already, since
I'm an all Apple household. Related to that, there's a factor of
convenience. | |
Cons: No free option. Can only share music with friends who use
Apple products, I believe.
Spotify | |
Pros: Free option. Can share with friends who don't use Apple
products. Cross-platform (not an issue for me, though).
Cons: Two places to get music: my local music and Spotify. That
fragmentation is not desireable. Web player requires Flash, which
is a huge con for me. | |
General thoughts: | |
Both music libraries seem good, so that's not an issue. I don't
mind paying for a service, so that's not an issue. I'm all Apple,
so being cross-platform is not an issue. I think it is ultimately
going to come down to this:
Do I want to share music with friends but have to use Flash to
listen to streaming music that isn't integrated with my local music?
Do I want to have a one-stop-shop for all my music, without the
need for Flash? | |
I'm not sure I'm ready to go 100% streaming, so access to local
music is still a requirement. |
